Assassins Creed Review
- Pros: The game starts off as a cracked scientist figured out how to unlock memories of our ancestors via our DNA and opens up two interesting story lines at once. Apparently we have invented a machine in modern day to read unknown memory registrars in our DNA and that our main character in this game is the decendant of a long lost (and somewhat wayward) assassin. The game provides an in depth story line that is easy to follow and interesting and adds lots of areas to explore right off the bat. The combination of modern science and genetics with ancient history is definately an interesting take for a video game.
- Cons: The game is very slow. I dont just mean that in a methodical way, but also litteral. Running around too much marks you (somehow *shrugs*) and causes the guards to attack you. Trying to avoid battles while doing high profile things (like climb walls of castles) can be tricky. The fighting style is very limited as you dont get to pick attacks, just what the char attacks with, and when. Basically, when you press X, you might jab...or you might throw a haymaker... thats for him to decide, not you. Fighting seems too easy up front as all you have to do to win any fight is grab, throw them to ground, attack until they die (attacking on ground enemies causes them to not be able to stand up). Game also has you seeking out 100 flags from the initial realm for no apparent reason...many hidden in bushes and atop the tallest peaks. Most humans and objects like treasure chests DO NOT interact with you, other than they get mad if you bump into them. Speach in this game to NPCs is EXTREMELY limited.
- Other Thoughts: This game is a lot slower than the previews made it seem. There is a lot of "hide and seek" in it as well with the collectable items, (King Richard Flags) and they dont seem to tie into the story. This being with it forcing you to walk (or at least run slowly) everywhere and take your time often makes it feel like the makers are purposely making you spend more time playing the game than you would like. (A lot like Final Fantasy boasting 20+ game play hours because it is impossible to avoid the 100000 battles between you and the boss)
For the interesting story line, good plot and settings, mixed with the slowness of play, sometimes awkward character movements, and lack of interaction between people and objects, I give it a 3 star review. Something worth playing, but not entirely worth the $60
Nice
- Pros: Simply amazing graphics. Story line is engaging and surprising. Control interface is pretty intuitive. Very fun to play so far.
Climbing buildings is very cool and a good way to get away from guards. Grabbing guards throats and throwing them 10 yards is pretty cool. It's a very effective way of crowd control as well when fighting multiple opponents.
- Cons: Some of these cons are probably due to my inexperience with console games.
The chase camera needs to be more responsive. Fighting multiple opponents can be a drag when you cant see the second or third opponent who is typically out of view.
Going from a sneak kill to a regular kill is annoying as well. You sneak up behind two guards and kill one, and then you stand there for a few seconds while the other guard beats you silly. I have found no way to stay in fight mode after a sneak kill.
It seems as though you are fighting for the bad guys at the beginning of the game.
Wish there were some lootable items in the game. Like weapons and gold and such.
The religious tone of the game might not be for everyone. It could be very insulting to you depending on what your religious beliefs are.
Single player only.
- Other Thoughts: This is my first Xbox 360 game so take what I say with a grain of salt.

Great game but needs work.
- Pros: The game is a great game hands down. Graphics are outstanding, climbing system is easy and fun when you are in a rush to get someone fast. Most missions are easily done but some might require a diffrent approch.
- Cons: I would have liked to have day and night which the assassin's creed 2 is going to have. A leveling system would have been nice so I have more of a reason to fight guards other then watching them get stabbed.
- Other Thoughts: Over all great game but needs work
Realistic fighting...??
- Pros: Awesome movement mapping, easy to manuever throughout the city.
Graphics look gorgeous in HD. Fun to sneak around and assassinate targets cleanly.
- Cons: Sucks terribly when you don't get the kill unnoticed and get swarmed by like 30 guards.
Combat system is TERRIBLE. It consists of 3 things. Block, Parry, and Counterattack. THAT'S ALL YOU DO!!! The only cool part about fighting is when the other person doesn't know you're there. Once they see you, it's like playing rock-paper-scissors and the enemy always picks paper.
- Other Thoughts: make the fighting system cool and it's a great game.
Assassins Creed GOOD
- Pros: Really great story line, outstanding characters, and some really cool plot twist, and it has decent game length.
- Cons: none
- Other Thoughts: none
