High Hopes... Let Down
- Pros: Graphics on 720p are great on my 26" HDTV. Opening video was to die for and made you really want to get into the game ASAP. Doing the 'Burn in' was awesome every single time I did it, always just fun to charge in head first.
- Cons: That's where the pro's end unfortunately. This game really, REALLY lacks so very much content for those still interested in the single player. Honestly the description of the game is the whole backstory behind it, you get nothing more from the game, nothing. Gameplay... yeah... FAIL; the single player was built off of the multi-player engine, as in when you die, there is no game over, you simply drop in again and keep going. This is just... wrong as far as single-player games should go, the final boss is impossible to beat without this rediculous advantage that takes all effort out of the game. Online play I hear would be fun but is not, I can't comment, I don't pay to have the game, and then pay to play it online. Built-in auto-lock is a joke, really, it engages an Aim-bot for 3 seconds; ok so I guess if it's programmed into the game it's not cheating anymore.... how the times have changed. Customization lacks, weapon selection lacks, user interface lacks... this game just lacks...
- Other Thoughts: This game had great expectations and promise, and for some of the online functions, it probably delivered. But for those of us looking to the single player, this game has been the worst let-down I have encurred in 15 years of gaming. The controls are edgy, touchy, and cumbersome; gameplay left me absolutely shocked and disappointed, but the multi-player was fun for the most part which kept me from using the game as an airsoft target in the back yard. Overall, this was one of the worst games I have ever played that looked great doing it, save your money, get COD4 Modern Warfare 2, Halo ODST, or some other FPS on the market, it WILL be a much better worth while of your time than this one if you at all like campaigns. Anyone strictly online, this game is hit-or-miss... you have been warned.

On the war-torn planets of tomorrow, mankind's greatest battle is about to begin. With its frontier colonies devastated by a growing insurrection, Earth dispatches the elite 8th Armored Infantry (nicknamed "Section 8") to repel the coming onslaught.
The nickname refers to an old United States military regulation where a soldier would be dismissed from service through being mentally unfit for duty. The near-suicidal missions that this division volunteers for brands them as insane by other military units.
Section 8 deploys by 'burning in' from their orbital drop ships tens of thousands of feet above the battlefield, utilizing the most advanced arsenal of military hardware known to man. Their mission: to scout and secure difficult objectives and smash enemy defenses in lightning-quick assaults.
An intense first-person shooter, Section 8 allows players to dynamically alter the flow of combat as they see fit. Employing tactical assets and on-demand vehicle deliveries, players are given unprecedented strategic control over epic sci-fi battlefields. |
