2 out of 5 eggsSounded Great when they worked.

Pros: They sounded great when the signal was there.

Cons: I sit about 8-12 feet from my bigscreen tv (plasma) where all my electronics were and the audio kept cutting out. After going to the tech support site they suggested moving the device as far as I could from the x box because of the wireless signal interfering with the headphone signal. At times it would work but come 5:00 when all the wireless networks in the neighborhood fired up the signal would cut out every 10 seconds. After moving around my setup as much as I could to put it on its own island I gave up and returned them.

Other Thoughts: 2.4 GHZ band is littered with devices which overpower this one.

3 out of 5 eggsGo with the X41

Pros: Lightweight, comfortable, great sound, easy to set up

Cons: Reliability--After a month of use one of the speakers made a loud pop and now it makes a very audible buzz when I use, so much that I have retired to my old stereo headphones. I don't know if this is the case for all of them, but from my research, it certainly isn't rare. If you decide to by these here or somewhere else, get a warranty if possible- you'll be glad you did. Another minor thing is that the cable that connects to the controller is prone to failure due to the connector.

Other Thoughts: When I had them, these were the best. It is hard to get the chat and game sound in the same headset for $200 and also be wireless. My advice is go with the X41. For an extra $30 it has better sound, batteries last longer, more reliable chat cable, and a couple other cool features.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Well built

Cons: Batteries, low sound, not surround sound like they said it would be. This is obviously not newegg's fault, it is the maker of the headphones (Voyetra) Shipping took a bit longer with these.. took an extra day even with next day delivery, newegg did not refund my money. :l

4 out of 5 eggsWorth the cost

Pros: Newegg of course is awesome, their product arrived when they said it would in great condition. Very comfortable, now that the cost has gone down a bit it is WELL worth it. Easy set up, AWESOME sound. I do not agree that I can hear footsteps 2 blocks behind me, but I CAN hear detail that i've never heard before that adds a new dimension to the game. Can be used just on TV if your not using your xbox, which is cool and there is a digital out that you can send to a suround sound receiver so your xbox sound can be heard through your surround sound speakers.

Cons: Was not aware that you have to plug digital/optical cable into xbox HD AV cable. I have just always used my HDMI, and since I have lost the HD AV cable that came with the xbox I had to go and drop another 25 on a new one, minor set back. There is some static that is noticable when game audio levels are low, but its not that bad when you are in the heat of battle. Speaking of heat, your ears can get a little hot after a while of playing.

Other Thoughts: Alot of people complaining about the signal is RF. Sure it has to be line of sight but who cares, I tend to only play games when I am in line of sight with my xbox. Just perch the reciever up as high as your set-up/cables will allow and you shouldnt have a problem. I have NOT tried any of the other brands of console headphones, so I cannot compare. Oh and to thoes who complain about not being able to chat when they go to the kitchen to get a coke because they loose line of sight...dudes its time to move out of your moms basement...

1 out of 5 eggsdon't buy these if you have a plasma display!!

Pros: high quality sound which can give you a competitive advantage over other players. also you can have the game cranked up and not bother anyone else in your house.

comes with optical audio

Cons: Within 2 weeks my microphone stopped working and I had to RMA the unit at my cost for a new headset.

No HDMI input/output so you gotta downgrade from 1080 to 720.

Also the IR used by this unit conflicted with my Pioneer Plasma display and created a horrible buzzing noise even after trying all configurations offered by Turtle Beach support, basically since the troubleshooting process took so long I couldn't return it to where I bought them from and Turtle Beach didn't have any other solutions, other then it should work.

Other Thoughts: I really feel like Turtle Beach should have the Plasma problem listed on the outside of the box instead of making you purchase it, then finding it later in the troubleshooting section. A friendly disclaimer could of saved me a few hundred dollars.

5 out of 5 eggsworth the money

Pros: this headset has helped me more than doubled my k/d ratio in codwaw! once you get used to the surround in the headphone it is wonderful and natural. the bass is pretty decent and i find it well balanced without having to use the bass boost feature. if you are a serious fps gamer you NEED these! If you can afford them then consider no others and just go with them. some people complain about them being fragile, i have had no problems with that and my cat as even drug them across the house a few times.

Cons: the voice feedback through the headphones isn't loud enough for me and i find myself still yelling. but thats better than me waking my wife up by yelling and having gunfire zinging through the house on the surround sound.

also i wish they had a wired version that had surround sound, i would have gotten those to save on battery cost cause i don't really need the wireless.

the transmission of sound is pretty much line of sight so if you go to the next room you lose sound, but if you have your controller with you you'll retain chat function as far as the controller has reception.

under heavy gaming (6 hour session) i may go through 2 aaa batteries (the cheap rayovac ones) but it's well worth the price.

Other Thoughts: aside from the k/d help i also have dropped to low 4 digit rank in ctf with half the time played as the people ranked around me because you can hear EVERYTHING going on around you. you will start to find yourself using dead silence because you can hear people walking a full building away and know exactly where they are in reference to you. they are just simply awesome for fps gaming.

on a side note, my brother tried them, then tried to steal them from me.

3 out of 5 eggsTurtle Beach Ear Force X5

Pros: Has good sound quality (Dolby 5.1 Surround Sound) and transmits voice clear. Has an adjustable mic which can also be removed. Batteries last a while and has an auto shutoff feature. Easy to hook up out of the box. Earphones adjust to just about anyones head shape.

Cons: The price is rather expensive for what you get. These are going for around $200 but I think they are worth about $120 to be honest. For $200 they should atleast include a battery charger + batteries. I guess when there isn't really any competition they can do that. Ears tend to feel a little irritated about about an hour of playing or more. You can hear a little bit of noise(buzzing) when not playing but thats really that big of a deal. Receiever could of been smaller(its about the size of a wireless router). I guess they made it that big so that you could set your headphones when not in use but still.

Other Thoughts: Sound Quality - 9/10
Comfort - 7/10
Value - 4/10

I paid $160 for these on sale and I still think I paid too much. Recommend seller to look for an alternative or wait until the price drops or they go on sale.

4 out of 5 eggsBasically for Xbox.

Pros: Decodes DD/DTS
Lightweight
Auto-power shut off in microphone
Good ergonomics - detachable microphone

Cons: Microphone only works with XBOX. I actually meant to use this to watch television through my receiver, and play PC games. Well, at least I can still watch television.

Mic is also wired, so it is no improvement over my existing PC headset.

Other Thoughts: HUM when silent. Could be soundloop.
Decent sound quality.

1 out of 5 eggsOh gee.

Pros: Sounds great. Great quality advantage on opponent.

Cons: Broke before one full battery use, had to buy a replacement X4 Microphone Boom. Was unable to speak after maybe 10 Hrs of use...

Other Thoughts: Just as reliable as the standard Xbox Headset.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Headset.

Pros: This is a very good headset. It's comfortable, lightweight, and overall awesome. Before these headsets I had a pair of Astro A40 Headset. But guess what they started messing up in a matter of a week. I would recommend this headset over the Astro A40. Don't get me wrong it does have a lot of cool features but the X4's are a little better. And for the price, this is a steal.

Cons: Only con I have is that you have to use batteries. There should at least be a rechargable battery from Turtle Beach you can buy. But hey, the batteries last a real long time. I play 6+ hours on Xbox Live and the batteries seriuously last me a week or more.
