5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: My friends, this headset has been with me for years. When I dwelled in the lowly peasant position of Console Gamer, I wore these headphones for hours on end, toiling away on Skyrim, Halo 3, Fallout, and so on. I could have easily logged a month with these on over the years. Needless to say they were worn well and with pride, and have lasted its way to a 5 star review. I have stepped on them, thrown them around, put them on my dog, dropped them on full plates of food and have slept in them night after late night. They provide a clear sound, booming bass, and noise cancellation that would let you fall asleep with fireworks exploding out your window. Put is this way: Through punishment, multiple girlfriends, several seasons of TWD and GoT, and hundreds of in game hours, these puppies still work, and I enjoy their company when I play PC games to this day.

Cons: The Cable. That's it. The Cable. So easily lost, but also easily replaceable, and cheap too. Over the course of 3 to 4 years, I think I have gone through 4 besides the stock white one. May have to deal with poor voice audio from fellow gamers due to cord/jack issues, but that comes from heavy use and is workable, as I can still use mine with a little elbow grease.

Other Thoughts: I am almost sentimental in writing this review, it is a great headset that has served me well, and if I ever walk the console path again, I wouldn't pause to pick up a pair of Turtle Beaches. Though not that applicable to the PC side of the spectrum, they still are on my neck in the morning when I fall asleep watching movies or listening to music. Might not be top notch audio, nor the sexiest headset you have ever seen, but it works hard and gets the job done in sometimes inhumane conditions. The times I have had with these atop my head have been some of the best moments of my late childhood, weather it be listening to expletives being thrown around party chat or laughing of hard you cry, these were, and hopefully continue to be a great vehicle for those moments.

3 out of 5 eggsOkay for Xbox

Pros: Has good sound, can get REALLY loud in FPS games. It's not the best but hey, there's a reason it's not surround sound.

Cons: Only 2 speakers so you only get analog sound. Hissing when chat is put on loudest setting. Undetachable mic

Other Thoughts: Okay for a first headset

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Headset For Under $100

Pros: Wireless. Good life with rechargeable batteries. Durable since i've had it for 3 years now. Does great with FPS's. I've been able to hear enemies footsteps from MW2 to BF3.

Cons: Sometimes theres a bad connection with the cable that connects the headset and the controller. Gotta twist the connection or it will cause echoing for others. Researched this online and it's a common problem.. Not Newegg's fault so no egg loss.

5 out of 5 eggsCable Issue Fix

Pros: The headset provides great audio and serves it's purpose while gaming. I have the version that comes with the 5.1 decoder box(forget which series).

Cons: The HDMI/RCA issue: Use the Microsoft HDMI kit. It comes with the audio connector that will fit along with an HDMI plug. Microsoft purposely makes the component/RCA box huge, so you will have to buy their $50 HDMI setup. The fix for this is to get the audio part from a used retailer, you know...somewhere to Stop for Games... People trade in just that part because, what do you know, they don't need it with HDMI. I picked up that part for like 5 bucks when I got mine. It allows you to hook up the HDMI to your TV and then get the red/white or optical from the little box. You would have to turn your tv down to avoid wierdness, but if you are playing with headphones, your TV is probably not an issue. Hope this helps.

Other Thoughts: There are also a few aftermarket, non-MS audio solutions, but they are only by luck of the draw. I found that one of my old universal RF adapters actually fit, but that was just tacky to leave all the extra pieces hanging.

4 out of 5 eggsA quality set of 'cans!

Pros: Comfy, sturdy and quality sound. Great microphone (from what all my fellow gamers are telling me).

Cons: Prone to a VERY loud piercing feedback shriek if the PC / inline amp volumes not set up properly.

Takes up an additional USB port on the PC.

Other Thoughts: Takes some time to get the sound adjusted properly; by this I mean the co-ordination between the PC and the in-line amp. Until you spend some time getting the balance right, loud and/or high volume spikes can cause feedback and you'll blast your poor ears with a stupid loud shriek! Took me a little research to figure out what was going on, but I finally settled on my PC set to about 65% on the master volume. Now, I can turn the headphone volume up to louder than is healthy and not have to worry about the feedback issues.

4 out of 5 eggsGood! but...

Pros: Amazing sound! And can be worn for hours without discomfort.

Cons: If your using an older Xbox with the wireless adapter, the receiver that comes with the headset will conflict with the Xbox adapter if it is close enough to it. And makes connecting online frustrating!!

5 out of 5 eggsTurtle Beach X31

Pros: Fit comfortably, Sound quality is far better then other headsets at same price.

Cons: if your xbox is hooked up via HDMI you cant hook up your headset because it has white and yellow jacks unless you have sterio output or you buy an hdmi adapter.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Well Made

Pros: I've had this headset for about 8 months and it has been working well. The audio is very good, and has been helping my gaming performance for a while. With the bass boost, I can hear certain things much clearer and listen to my music with more "unce".

Cons: After about 6 months, the talk back cable has malfunctioned. Perhaps it was because of some broken wires or it was my fault for playing around with it. I'll soon be ordering a new talk back cable though.

Other Thoughts: Overall, this headset is perfect for its price, but if you want a headset with larger earmuffs and Dobly 7.1 audio, then get the x41. My friend has that one and it is superior to the x31.

5 out of 5 eggsBrilliant, but not long lasting

Pros: This headset was absolutely amazing. For $80 I got 3 and 1/2 years out of it. Speaker quality was good, mic quality was very good for a gaming headset. Wireless transmitter was fairly long range, bought 20-ish feet for me.

Cons: After 6+ hours of gaming, got a little uncomfortable. Realistically I shouldn't be playing that long anyway.

Other Thoughts: For $80, I wouldn't even expect 3 years. She finally went kaputt on me about a month ago. The left side only gave me about 30% volume. Balance in windows could even it out, but made it too quiet to listen to anything. I should note that the mic quality was so good, I ripped out the mic and wired it to a 3.5mm jack. Its very clear, probably even good enough for amateur instrument recording.

1 out of 5 eggsGARBAGE!!!

Pros: probably work awesome if my TV is from 1973

Cons: this headset simply doesn't work with hdmi if your TV does not have a stereo jack out. Of coarse my TV does not have said jack so if i do decide i must use these then i will have to hook my Xbox up via RCA cables.... really RCA cables? what kinda junk makes me use the RCA cables in this day and age

Other Thoughts: how could no one have mentioned this sooner in the reviews? do most other TV's come with this jack now?
