4 out of 5 eggsWorks great

Pros: Great sound, works very well with my computer, (special setup listed bellow required) Can actually hear the steam that is shown on the character selection screen for the Sith Warrior in Star Wars the Old Republic, Bluray movies sound much better.

Cons: Rechargeable batteries are a must, and I don't care if you have to spend $50 on that, you will save a lot of money. The cups are a little uncomfortable, but it takes a while for it to be a pain.

Other Thoughts: If you have a sound card that supports Dolby Digital live, you can connect the receiver to your computer with the included optical cable. If your sound card doesn't support DDL, but it does have an SPDIF output on it, bluray movies will output the DDL sound when played, but games will just use stereo sound. If you want to be able to use the microphone, you need to get a 2.5mm Female to 3.5mm Male adapter. That will let you connect the included chat cable to your computer. I have heard that if you connect the wired xbox360 controller to your computer, it will eliminate the need for that adapter, but I haven't tried that out yet. As I mentioned in the cons section, rechargeable batteries are a must, I went through 20 batteries in the first week before my parents were able to drop off my charger and batteries that I left with them when I was living at home.

5 out of 5 eggsNeeded to put my two cents in.

Pros: Wireless - I really hate wires, I think they break too easily.
Easy to set up - You literally plug and play with the included cables and change the audio in the Xbox system settings. My PC motherboard came with an optical port so no extra cables needed for that. Works really well for movies that have 5.1 surround.
Range - Range is solid, audio breaks up around 30ft.
Comfort - Lightweight and very comfortable, I watched the extended cuts of Lord of the Rings back to back to back (almost 12 hours!) with a handful of bathroom breaks and I really didn't notice I had them on.
Options - Has bass and treble boosts (individual or together), adjustable angles for the surround sound, and Dolby digital support.

Cons: Not many in my opinion. I will say the batteries can be annoying if used for extended periods of time because they will beep several times before actually shutting off. As stated below though rechargeable batteries will save you a lot of money. I bought a pack of 4 AAAs with a charger (that can charge AAs and AAAs) for $30 from @maz0n (can't use that word seriously?). Seriously get rechargeable batteries or go wired, it just makes sense.
I also HATE the cable to plug it into the Xbox controller. For a $150 (at the time) wireless headset, you would think it would come with a wireless dongle for the controller. Those are bundled with the REALLY expensive ones though, gotta make $$$ somehow I guess...
I guess I should note that the "surround sound" isn't true surround sound, its virtual instead of using multiple speakers. It's not a big deal, just worth mentioning for people looking for a true surround sound experience. This is a waaaay cheaper option though so honestly it's not important imo.

Other Thoughts: To the guy whining about how much he spent on batteries: rechargeable batteries do exist and are an incredibly cheap (and worthwhile) investment. Why you would spend $100+ is just plain stupid. I purchased a charger (for AAAs and AAs) and four AAA batteries (rated for 1300 recharges before they lose overall capacity) for $30. If you're looking for a solid pair of headphones that work with PC, Xbox, and possibly Playstation (audio only via optical, not for chat. Haven't actually tested that but it wouldn't surprise me if it did work) then look no further. These are my first pair of gaming headphones I've used and are easily the best pair of headphones I've ever owned. Because they use optical they will also work on Xbox One (chat should function as well) and most likely PS4 (again but for chat) so it's a good long term investment as well. Overall I couldn't be happier, especially since these were a Christmas present!

2 out of 5 eggsNOT Worth it.

Pros: -Wireless (sort of a pro)
-Surround Sound
-Sound Quality (again kind of)
-Durability (so far seems fine)
-The Microphone is probably about the best part (which isn't honestly enough of a selling point)

Cons: First of all I've had this set for roughly 4 months and already have gone through about $100 worth of batteries. I will burn through a pair of duracell coppertops in a day or less. Given the fact that I have used them quite a bit may affect this battery life but overall the upkeep was getting to aggravating. This is what plays into the issue with wireless being a "pro"; while it is nice to have a wireless headset the wireless nature becomes a hassle. Furthermore I had quite a bit of trouble actually connecting this headset to my 360 (when I first got the headset), better yet I was completely unable to connect it to my computer until I got the $10-15 cord off of turtlebeach's website which then meant I was burning batteries while still being wired to my computer.

Sound Quality. Overall it's pretty nice however as aforementioned the battery life was driving me nuts, this lead me to go acquire a new headset. I picked up a steelseries sierra v2 for $75 (less than half as much as this one cost me) and so far the quality seems to be quite a substantial set up. I don't know if it is just me, I haven't gone back and forth to test it but as of now I'm convinced the sound quality is lower on this headset even while it costs more than double. This isn't to say the sound quality is low, it just isn't what I would say is worth the price.

Durability; the headset I've had for a period of time and it seems to be okay. Seems to be fairly high quality material (plastic and what not). I've had another turtlebeach set break on me kind of randomly which led me to initially acquire this set.

Comfort, again the headset isn't entirely uncomfortable but honestly not $160 worth (what I paid). I would recommend once again the Steelseries I mentioned previously as they have proven to be much more comfortable in comparison.

Other Thoughts: Overall:

My thoughts summed up would be, the headset isn't a bad one per say but overall VERY much NOT worth the price for quality in comparison to the less than half as expensive SteelSeries Sierra V2 which cost roughly $75-76 after I believe an 8% sales tax.

Comfort: Sierra
Sound Quality: Sierra
Price: Sierra by hugely incomparably far (initial price and upkeep prive via batteries for the x42)
Microphone: Toss up, friend has said the turtlebeach was slightly louder; however on other turtlebeachs there may be feedback if used on a PC. Both x12, and PX31's have been troublesome with my friends while using chat programs like Razer Comms, Ventrillo, and even in-game chats.
Durability: Sierra I think, I've seen turtlebeachs come and go and my friend has has a sierra for about 2 years with no issues.
Overall: Sierra but quite a bit honestly

5 out of 5 eggsIf you're Sound Whoring... Get This

Pros: 1.Great range for a 5.1Dolby digital headset. Likely due to the dual band 2.4/5 GHz WiFi frequencies it can operate on.

2. Crystal clear surround sound that can be adjusted to different, multiple angles, so you know which direction the opposition is coming from before you actually see them.

3. No noticeable clicks/static/interference that you might find in older headsets. Again, likely due to 2.4/5 GHz dual band.

4. Chatting works well, even for someone like me who murmurs & mumbles while chatting.

5. Handy beeping warning when your headset batteries are about to die, so you can swap them out before the start of the next multiplayer match.

6. No discomfort, & fairly light when used over prolonged period of gameplay.

7. Definitely noticeable advantage in score.

8. TosLink optical cable included.

Cons: 1. Not exactly cheap, but well worth the money spent, especially if you are an avid gamer.

2. Volume low when initially used out of the box. Put a scare into me until it automatically adjusted itself & the problem went away.

Other Thoughts: Read the instructions first before using.

Hold down side button on transceiver for 10 seconds, then do the same with the power button on the headset until you hear the beep.

Multiple uses for this headset.

It can be connected & used with anything that has a toslink optical cable connection, such as home theater system, blu-ray player, or TV with optical out port.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat

Pros: Great sound, crystal clear, no distortion! its got about a 30ft range, so I can lay in bed and watch movies finally and not have to worry about waking people up!

Cons: If you're hooking this up to the PC, you'll need to run to an electronics store and grab a 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapter, or pay another $20+ for the pc chat cord. It comes with the xbox adapter, which doesn't fit regular jacks.

Also, you'll need that pc cord if you don't have an optical out port on your sound card or motherboard. The usb is just used to power the receiver apparently.

The instructions are severely lacking and the knowledge base just plain sucks when it comes to troubleshooting. had to look up that chat cord problem on youtube.

None of those things are something i'd take an egg off for though,.

Other Thoughts: My friends reported a slight humming sound when I talk, but its nothing loud

4 out of 5 eggsNot too bad.

Pros: Decent sound, 7.1, comfortable, wireless, good battery life, light weight.

Cons: It's wireless, accept for the mic cable. It tends to get in the way. When the cable is plugged in, there is a slight buzz but it's not even close to being noticeable when playing. Bass and treble are ok but not as good as my G930 for the PC. Also, they run on batteries but they do give a warning before they die.

Other Thoughts: Overall, worth the money.

5 out of 5 eggsShould have bought these first

Pros: Comfortable, great sound, solid performer

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: Purchased the X32's first and heard the "buzz" lots of others complained about. Should be noted I didn't hear it during game play, only while paused. The X42's have a "buzz", too, but it's very slight.

Wireless connection is solid and pairs/connects quickly. Sound quality is great and they are comfortable to wear.

5 out of 5 eggsIts Great!

Pros: This was the best headset I have had in a long time and I have been through 3 different headset. This has great bass and treble boost. I highly recommend it's a great buy.

Cons: I just wish I could plug it in my tv and use my xbox HDMI cable at the same time but I have to use my xbox 360 optical port
