The SteelSeries Spectrum AudioMixer allows any standard stereo headset with a microphone and 3.5mm jacks to function with Xbox 360 gameplay and Xbox LIVE communication. Its independent audio and voice controls allow the adjustment of volume levels for in-game audio and Xbox LIVE communication. The SteelSeries Spectrum AudioMixer also features SteelSeries LiveMix, a quick-button option to improve the balance and mixing of Xbox LIVE chat and in-game audio, so that voice communication is amplified over the sounds of gunfire and explosions without boosting the volume of the headset and risk hearing damage.
Pros: The thing does its job, there's no doubt in that. Also an extremely long cable (8.9 feet?, so don't worry about length) which can be a con or pro depending on how you look at it, but you can just wind up and bind the excess. All the functions work perfectly fine... IF you can get the thing to plug in.
Cons: One of the other reviews mentions the module doesn't really fit into their controller while Steelseries says in their FAQ that it's just a really snug fit. The fit is too snug, the dang thing doesn't plug in all the way unless I force it with my knee while holding the controller. I tried grinding down parts of it so it would fit the controller better but the housing is so thin that within one second of lightly grinding it left a hole. Very cheaply made product, not sturdy, and definitely NOT properly designed to fit the xbox 360 controller.
Other Thoughts: The only reason I still attempt to use this thing from time to time is that I have horrible luck with getting faulty or down right DOA xbox chat headsets. I've wanted to get a nice headset for gave and voice but they're just want too expensive. I picked this gadget up to use with my Razer Carcharias headset and I can say the quality isn't lowered at all.

Pros: SteelSeries, although now that may be a con as well.
Cons: Fits uncomfortably into the controller, jams in and out very roughly.
Other Thoughts: Really letdown, SteelSeries is where I have always gone with PC. So, I figure this product would be great, but it only causes headaches.
