5 out of 5 eggsA Great Phone!

Pros: I bought this as a present for someone. They received it and liked it very much. There hasn't been any complaints from them ever since, so all I can say is that this phone is amazing.

Cons: No cons at all.

Other Thoughts: It's a great phone for its price, I might even order another!

3 out of 5 eggsGift to a frustrated 92 yr old father

Pros: Price was right and it works with T-Mobile. Still trying to understand phone features.
Blue tooth will help in his loaded Avalon (if the Samsung link is automatic like my old Nokia N95)

Cons: charging only when phone is off is pretty nasty trick. Smart phones and semi-smart phones are not sufficiently intuitive for a 92 year old. This is an ongoing struggle and I live 10,000 miles away. Instructions by voice and email are dificult.

Other Thoughts: What the old man really wanted was an I-Phone or Samsung Note that he could use with a prepaid T-Mobile Simm card. He is not interested in contract service, 3G, or Wifi. Hxly Smokes - he griped that the Star wouldn't play solitaire. Found Solitaire that is supposed to run on the Star. Will find out soon.
I hope I don't do this to my kids.

1 out of 5 eggsdon't buy it

Pros: the fake call thing is neat... but they have apps for it nowadays

Cons: this is the worst phone ever. when i really needed my phone it won't charge. rather it will charge when it's turned off. like it won't charge at all when it's on (and not in a call) with this phone i will never buy any samsung product. and best part is? this is an international phone so no warranty anyhow! i bought this at some store in the international district and wow, i feel really stupid for buying it. i should've paid extra for something more. this is just a cheap want to be smart phone. horrible battery life, horrible charge, and the charger that comes with it is junk.

the touch screen sucks, it makes a lot of pocket calls for a phone that has a "lock" button. and like a previous reviewer said, if you need to use a keypad when in a phone call you don't have much time before it locks again...

poor OS design, poor touch screen, texting is a nightmare unless you use the stylus, and that just isn't practical all the time.

Other Thoughts: i really needed to make a phone call and the phone would not charge. i had to turn it off. well i missed some important stuff. yep, a really bad exp, i was considering buying the galaxy s2 but yeah, screw that.

if you need a cheap phone, don't look at this, the so called features don't make up for how much frustration you will go through later.

1 out of 5 eggsVery poor quality screen

Pros: The phone has lot of features provided the phone lasts.

Cons: Broke within one year. Found that there was not even one year warranty on this one. The screen calibrartion was totally lost. You press one thing and something else happens. It is dengarous. Unwanted calls were being made. Also screen gets locked when you make a call. This is a big problem when you dial 1-800 numbers, which requires further key press. To unlock the screen you have to press unlock button on the side of the phone and quickly press the keypad button. If you delay, you may be timed out. There is no way to avoid locking. I wasted my money on this one. Never buying another Samsung phone.

Other Thoughts: This is a cheap touch screen phone. Cheap Samsung phones are really cheap in quality. Don't buy cheap Samsung phones. Lot of features but what would you do with the features if phone stops working?

2 out of 5 eggsNot enough for long term heavy duty usage

Pros: 1. Good touchscreen feature.
2. Good standard smart phone feature enough for basic usage.
3. long battery life can make you charge probably only twice a week for normal usage.

Cons: 1. Touchscreen not so sensitive and well use.
2. phone need to have memory card to make it can connect to PC. This looks like firmware bug for me.

Other Thoughts: I have used this phone since AUG/4/2010
1. I have encounter some kind of fail dial out & receive call issue time by time after 8 month use of this phone.
2. The tocuhscreen now stop to work after 10 month usage and this kill all the usage of this phone and it now like a dummy rock.
I am not confidence on this kind of product quality.

3 out of 5 eggsCheap Touchscreen Phone

Pros: -Cheap
-Slim design
-Good response in QWERTY keypad
-Smart unlock

Cons: -No WiFi
-Multimedia messaging doesn't work
-Poor back cover design
-No flash for camera
-Resistive touchscreen rather than capacitive

Other Thoughts: Overall, the Samsung Star is a cheap, standard touchscreen phone. The biggest con is certainly the lack of WiFi built in.
