5 out of 5 eggsGingerbread and GPS

Pros: Galaxy S phones are quite hackable so you don't have to be stuck with Froyo, but buy the insurance from Samsung!

The Galaxy S I9000 and Galaxy S II are the only Samsung phones to date that have a working GPS in Gingerbread; in fact they are the only ones that have an official Gingerbread (android 3.3.2 and up.) Gingerbread for other Galaxy S models (Vibrant, Captivate) are ports of I9000 software and these phones use a different GPS chip. So if you want to run Gingerbread on a Samsung phone and have GPS working you need the I9000 or the S2.

Some I9000s also have a forward facing camera for videoconferencing - not sure about this one.

Cons: Not an S2, but they're going for $850 or more...

5 out of 5 eggsworks great

Pros: works great with 2.2.1 firmware, speedmod kernel and jl2 modem to maintain 850mhz cdma band

Cons: price still high.. sgs ii is coming out.. i have one on pre-order

Other Thoughts: wish they would post the actual part number the one i got is an i9000t.. beware of the 16gb models as i believe they are the faulty i9000m (canada) models which are prone to memory card failiures.. i got my i9000t here after sending in an i9000m i had for repair the 2nd time.

4 out of 5 eggsVery nice phone

Pros: * Beautiful, bright, large 4" screen. AMOLED is very impressive.

* Form factor looks very sleek and light but really doesn't feel cheap.

* Responsive touch screen. Swipe text entry is pretty cool and easy to use.

* Hardware is Android 2.2 ready (and beyond according to Samsung).

* Audio is decent without a headset. Great clarity on phone calls.

* Tons of Apps. For my first Android phone, I'm very impressed.

* Camera & video automatically adjust as you switch from vertical to horizontal positions. Pretty cool when shooting video.

* 16GB internal memory plus an additional microSD slot (I have 16 GB added- it comes with a 2GB card).

Cons: * Power on off button is located on the phone's right side (instead of the top). It's the very spot you would naturally hold the phone in its horizontal camera position. placing the left forefinger on the button as you steady the camera. Many accidental shut-offs so far.

* In camera mode, there is only a touch screen (no external) shutter button making it really challenging doing one of those typical arm-out self-portrait shots.

* Battery life appears to be lower than average even for a smart phone with all the power saver Apps installed and operating.

* Haven't found a detailed user manual yet-- it's not handy or obvious if its there.

* The included HD copy of "Avatar" doesn't work on my phone, but gives me a "file not found" message. Not a really big deal except I can't "Wow" my friends.

* My extensive Google Contacts account has filled up the allotted contact memory already after syncing.

* Only ships with a 2GB microSD memory card. Really should be at least 8GB

Other Thoughts: * This is my first smart phone. I have never owned an iPhone. The technology is still pretty new to me, so I'm afraid my review is pretty rudimentary as a newby. I'm hoping as I spend more time getting to know the phone, that I'll love it more and more.

* I really think Samsung has come close to a true iPhone competitor with this phone.

* I've heard it said that the phone feels flimsy to some. I really disagree with that assessment. If you are coming from a 'heavy' early model smart phone I suppose that might be true comparatively to what you had before, but to me it feels great and well-made.

* I'm very happy with it so far.

5 out of 5 eggsBest Android Phone

Pros: - New 1ghz processor is faster than any other one out there.
- the amoled screen is amazing and movie watching with 5.1 surround sound on is amazing.
- Big screen for easy viewing and NO GLARE in the sun.

Cons: - I personally dont like the samsung bits on the phone like the keyboard but you can always change those to android mode.

Other Thoughts: - I had the N*xus One and it had 2.2 so 2.1 does not feel as smooth. But when the update for the Galaxy gets released im sure itll be much smoother. Also, the N*exus One had a lot of glare and this phone has almost none.
- I highly recommend this phone to anyone that loves hi def and hates screen glare.

Pros: Sleek, ultra fast response, amazing screen, superb battery life.

Cons: Have not found one yet.

Other Thoughts: Things will only get better with the 2.2 release.
