Learn more about the SAMSUNG SGH-I927

Please read the product description carefully for all unlocked cell phones.

Some unlocked cell phones sold by Newegg may have previously been locked to a specific carrier. A carrier-locked cell phone may often have carrier-specific applications and branding. Some of these applications cannot be unlocked and/or may not function with a different carrier. Also, applications requiring a data plan may result in data usage charges from the original carrier.

In addition, the cell phone box may arrive unsealed and the cell phone may appear previously handled. The unlocking procedure requires unsealing the box and manually handling the cell phone. In this case, the cell phone should not be considered "tampered with" or "defective".

1 out of 5 eggsWorst Phone I've Ever Owned

Pros: Good screen display, keyboard, widgets

Cons: terrible battery life, terrible connectivity, crashes often, instagram and google maps barely work, low quality camera

Other Thoughts: It's true-this is the worst phone I've had the misfortune of owning. I got it for free with an upgrade, and I would NEVER pay ANYTHING to own this. No one makes cases or screen protectors for it, so it's super vulnerable to breaking. Most of my apps barely run on it, standard ones like Instagram and Google maps, even facebook crashes all the time. I would rather have my 2007 nokia flip phone than this useless hunk of junk. It crashes all the time for no reason at all, and the battery doesn't register as having the correct battery percentage. It freezes up whenever I finish a call, and the screen goes blank. Even the TIME was wrong today, so I can't even use it as a clock. This phone is actually making my life miserable right now, please DON'T BUY IT.

2 out of 5 eggsStay away

Pros: Fast Tegra 2 process, okay physical keyboard, bright display, nice camera, custom roms available

Cons: Unstable.
The phone some times does not receive phone calls. I guess somehow the antenna gets turned off during idle.

Stock rom causes the screen dying issue many reviewers have stated before me. Flashed the AT&T ICS rom and that somehow fixed the problem (no idea how software fixes a hardware issue, maybe different voltage levels?)

Screen rotation some time breaks when flashing roms or restoring from backups.

As many have said before, this is the i727R, not the AT&T i727. It seems that the Canadian Roger's version has some quality control issues.
My phone also locked after flashing a new rom. This shows that the seller did a software hack to get the radio band unlock instead of an official unlock code from the carrier... At least we do have options to get the carrier unlock code.

I talked to newegg about this, they simply told me to contact the seller... You would think that Newegg would stand behind the products on their site. I have had great experiences with Newegg before, and this experience should not be be acceptable by their standard.

Other Thoughts: At this point, I would recommend going with the Samsung Galaxy S2 over this. You can get it used for a comparable price and it is faster.
If you want a physical keyboard, go with the Droid 3 or Droid 4. Unfortunately these need to flash a radio image to get them working with US carriers unless you get the XT860 (GSM version of the droid 3)

1 out of 5 eggsDGH-I927R

Pros: Fast phone, nice display, Querty Keyboard

Cons: Very Difficult to connect to hidden ssid's, Died after two months

Other Thoughts: The Phone itself is very nice when it worked, it did not relock for me. But its started shutting down by itself and I had to remove the battery to get it to start again, in 3-5 minutes it would shut down again. Re formatted the phone and it worked as it should for two days, boom vertical lines across the screen and then it would slowly go black. Remove the Battery and it would get to the splash screen, get vertical lines and the display would fade to black.
Contacted Samsung and they basically told me to jump off a cliff. All Samsung products sold online WILL HAVE THERE WARRENTY VOIDED. This Lead me back to Newegg an the extended warranty I bought.

The Phone is on its way back to newegg, under the extended warranty. If you decide to buy a Samsung product, online get and extended warranty from the seller, Samsung will throw you to the Wolves is you utter Online to them...

5 out of 5 eggsGreat phone

Pros: Price to performance is fantastic on this phone dual core and easily update-able be aware you might not get a AT&T branded phone i bought this and got the rogers version which was a bonus cause I'm actually a rogers subscriber (identical hardware different ROM still unlocked so it matters not) it get's relitivly good battery life and better coverage than my old phone.

Cons: It is a little bit thicker than some of the new phone due to the slide but its not much. Stock gingerbread androids a little inefficient AT&T's 4.0.4 Ice cream sandwich is full of bloat-ware and you'll have to find a copy that doesn't relock you phone if you wanna use it on rogers and you wanna update. also be aware the at&t update causes the backlight on your keyboard to stop working.

Other Thoughts: Love the phone I'm new to the android custom rom scene but if you interested this phone is a great phone to begin with especialy when it on sale. It become a PHENOMINAL phone with a firmware upgrade. Recommended this phone to a few friends they are all running it stock and still love it.

3 out of 5 eggsDGH-I927r

Pros: Fast phone, great screen and responsive.

Cons: Its not 8 gig as advertised, its only 4 gig. And its a SGH-I927r not and SGH-I927, AT&T model.

Other Thoughts: SO Far so good.. It had not relocked, it shouldn't because I'm using it on a Rodgers network in Canada, if it does relock I'll report back.
This phone is a huge improvement over what I had, but lost two eggs for slightly misleading advertising...
