1 out of 5 eggsWrong size SIM Card

Pros: .
Got on sale for $99
Nice phone for the price

Cons: SIM Card that came in the box didn't fit.

Got regular SIM but phone needed MicroSIM

Need to spend $10 to get a T-Mobile MicroSIM card

Other Thoughts: I can't believe I got the wrong size SIM.
The SIM number matched the number printed on the outside of the box.
Also there was no activation code number.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome deal, especially with $40 T-Mobile plan

Pros: This is an amazing phone for the price. It does everything you expect from a smart phone. The battery life is good; it usually has about 70% of the battery left at the end of the day after a moderate amount of use. The wireless hot spot (tethering) works great. For just $40 per month, you can get an unlimited talk and text plan with 500 GB of data from T-Mobile. This INCLUDES wireless hot spot (tethering) which many providers either do not allow or charge extra for.

Finally, some of us actually WANT a 4" screen because we want a phone that will fit in a pocket. If I need a big screen, I will use a desktop or laptop computer. Phones are for portability.

Cons: You have to avoid heavy internet use with the 500 GB data plan. You can always upgrade for more money.

Other Thoughts: I turned off the Wi-Fi calling like many people have recommended, and I have not had any problem with signal strength. You really do not need Wi-Fi calling if you have unlimited minutes.

5 out of 5 eggsRidiculously good value

Pros: Not too big (unlike most all Androids), fast CPU, plenty of memory, SD slot, 4G, Wi-Fi calling, Wi-Fi hotspot. Wireless reception solid. Good battery life. Battery easily replaceable. Speaker tolerable.

CRAZY value @ $119 (vs. $550 for iPhone 5c??)

Cons: So-so fit/finish - the "skin" at the bottom of the battery cover is peeling away a bit on mine.

Other Thoughts: Had to get rid of my otherwise nice HTC Wildfire S due to intolerable lack of on-Phone flash (couldn't install apps any more.) iPhone ruled out due to rapacious pricing. Wi-Fi calling, hotspot a requirement, so needed a T-Mobile certified phone.

Most Android phones these days are trending towards gigantism, but as I don't carry a purse nor wear cargo pants, I was looking for a smaller package. HTC's fit/finish seems best to me, so the One Mini would have been a good option, but no T-Mobile certification, so no Wi-Fi calling :-(

After the Wildfire S experience, did not want a dumbed down, planned-obsolete phone (one with too little memory, sealed battery etc.)

The Galaxy Light popped up and hit *all* the sweet spots - size, performance, functionality. Got mine quickly from Newegg and it did not disappoint. Android 4.2.2 UI was confusing and cluttered, so I went to "Easy" home page mode and am happy with it (warning: some settings, such as per-caller ringtones and hotspot password, will *require* you temporarily to go out of easy mode to make the changes.)

Then my wife's HTC Radar (Windows phone) died. She was fed up with Windows Phone's applessness and was agitating for an iPhone. For $550? I plied her with the $119 Galaxy Light & she is happy as a clam, now streaming 8trax at work.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Smartphone

Pros: 1 gig of RAM, removable battery, micro SD card slot. smooth running phone, great reception in my area 4G, 4G LTE, very fast phone and smooth operating.

Cons: none that i can come up with.

Other Thoughts: The call quality and speed of the web on this phone (T-Mobile) is amazing. I'm coming from having owned 2 previous iPhones and this phone honestly does everything the iPhone can do + more. Why pay contract prices or finance your phone.

3 out of 5 eggsIt's ok at best

Pros: Light, feels good in the hand and fits in pocket very well

Cons: Unresponsive, slow, and a lot of lag. My LG Optimus F3 was much quicker. And the battery life is really bad on this phone, even with the screen dimmed. With light use at work, it would barely make it home, and I mean, only checking it at work.

5 out of 5 eggsSurprisingly good for the price

Pros: Great little phone. For a few years I've kept a phone on a T-mobile $3-per-day-used plan as a second/emergency-backup device (in my life this actually comes in useful a few times per month), and often keep it upgraded with trailing-edge technology like this, starting with a feature phone, then a couple of 3G androids (the Concord, which was horrid, and then the Prism II, which was boring & under-powered but OK). When this came up for $110 on a shell-shocker deal, I went for it to finally add 4G capability. Now, I've had maybe eight other Android phones on three networks over the years, and my current main phone is an LG G3 on Verizon, and I have to say that I was not expecting to like this phone as much as I do. It is small, light, and fast. The screen is bright and responsive. Calls sound great, I use it regularly for conference calls that can last an hour or more, both using the wi-fi calling and over cellular, often on speakerphone or with a headset.

8GB is actually a good size for a basic Android phone. I've had phones with smaller memory and it's always a battle to fit apps and data, even if you have an SD card. But at 8GB there's enough storage that you don't usually have to worry about it. Also, the display resolution is far from top-of-the-line, but it is quite adequate for a screen this size.

Cons: I haven't really found many cons with this phone. Maybe that it's small, but I also listed that as a pro because that works for me for the way I use the phone. Maybe because it's a low-end phone there aren't as many accessories for it. But honestly, I've been quite pleased with it every time I use it. It is very clearly an inexpensively-built, plastic phone, but I don't think you can expect much more at this price.

5 out of 5 eggsBest affordable phone.

Pros: I did extensive research for buying a replacement smart phone.
I bought 3 of these SGH-T399 phones.
I bought 1 SGH-T399 off of newegg,
I bought 2 more online from a different site.
At this present moment newegg has the best price for this phone.
Paying more than 200 dollars for a phone is a waist of money, so buy this phone.
I really don't see how anyone could possibly go wrong buying this phone.

Cons: I don't like android, but that still buy this phone its great.

1 out of 5 eggsPhone and Seller: Extremely Underwhelmed

Pros: Affordable as Smartphones go

Cons: Poor battery life, poor picture quality, calls constantly dropped, WiFi Calling" feature on T-Mobile Smartphones does not work. Experience made worse by Samsung & newegg.

Other Thoughts: Basically, not satisfied with phone. In the end, Samsung said that since it's new, return it. Newegg per thier policy for new unlocked cell phones refuses to take it back once the box is open and will only make exchange if the phone is defective as determined by Samsung. So you contact Samsung who, par for the course, is unhelpful then newegg steps in and contacts Samsung to get answer. If you purchase a phone, open it, and it does not live up to the claims or work as a reasonable and prudent person might expect, your stuck with it. I bought for price and will pay for doing so.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect!

Pros: A great alternative to a full blown smartphone. It has most of the same features but is slightly trimmed down in size and overall "gadgets". GREAT battery life.

Cons: None so far.

2 out of 5 eggsTerrible reception

Pros: The phone has an excellent display, is reasonably speedy, has most of the latest Android features (it runs Jelly Bean 4.2.2), is compact and pocketable, and has decent battery life. If that were all there were to it, it would be a steal at $120, compared to $230 for a Moto g LTE.

Cons: Reception, on GSM, HSPA, and LTE, is terrible. I literally have the phone sitting right next to my Lumia 521 and Moto g (non-LTE), both also on T-Mobile, and this Galaxy Light can't make calls or send/receive SMS while the others can. (And don't even try to access the Internet...) The Galaxy Light just says, "mobile network not avalable, connect to WiFi to make calls or send SMS." I've tried this in my home, at my office, and everywhere in between in my car. Where the Lumia and Moto can make/receive calls, the Galaxy Light just can't. Whatever Samsung did to compromise the antenna/RF performance probably wouldn't matter as much on AT&T or another network with stronger signal that T-Mobile, but, as it stands, in my area (suburban Boston), this phone is useless to me. The Lumia 521 and Moto g are both perfectly usable on T-Mobile, rarely losing signal or dropping calls, and usually getting 1 - 7 Mbps on HSPA. The Galaxy Light is very fast (10+ Mbps) on LTE, but only when you have a very strong signal. Otherwise, it's 0 bps on any network.
