1 out of 5 eggsPhone and Seller: Extremely Underwhelmed

Pros: Affordable as Smartphones go

Cons: Poor battery life, poor picture quality, calls constantly dropped, WiFi Calling" feature on T-Mobile Smartphones does not work. Experience made worse by Samsung & newegg.

Other Thoughts: Basically, not satisfied with phone. In the end, Samsung said that since it's new, return it. Newegg per thier policy for new unlocked cell phones refuses to take it back once the box is open and will only make exchange if the phone is defective as determined by Samsung. So you contact Samsung who, par for the course, is unhelpful then newegg steps in and contacts Samsung to get answer. If you purchase a phone, open it, and it does not live up to the claims or work as a reasonable and prudent person might expect, your stuck with it. I bought for price and will pay for doing so.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect!

Pros: A great alternative to a full blown smartphone. It has most of the same features but is slightly trimmed down in size and overall "gadgets". GREAT battery life.

Cons: None so far.

2 out of 5 eggsTerrible reception

Pros: The phone has an excellent display, is reasonably speedy, has most of the latest Android features (it runs Jelly Bean 4.2.2), is compact and pocketable, and has decent battery life. If that were all there were to it, it would be a steal at $120, compared to $230 for a Moto g LTE.

Cons: Reception, on GSM, HSPA, and LTE, is terrible. I literally have the phone sitting right next to my Lumia 521 and Moto g (non-LTE), both also on T-Mobile, and this Galaxy Light can't make calls or send/receive SMS while the others can. (And don't even try to access the Internet...) The Galaxy Light just says, "mobile network not avalable, connect to WiFi to make calls or send SMS." I've tried this in my home, at my office, and everywhere in between in my car. Where the Lumia and Moto can make/receive calls, the Galaxy Light just can't. Whatever Samsung did to compromise the antenna/RF performance probably wouldn't matter as much on AT&T or another network with stronger signal that T-Mobile, but, as it stands, in my area (suburban Boston), this phone is useless to me. The Lumia 521 and Moto g are both perfectly usable on T-Mobile, rarely losing signal or dropping calls, and usually getting 1 - 7 Mbps on HSPA. The Galaxy Light is very fast (10+ Mbps) on LTE, but only when you have a very strong signal. Otherwise, it's 0 bps on any network.

4 out of 5 eggsDecent Phone

Pros: I went from a Galaxy S3 to this. I find myself using my phone more as a phone, and less as a tablet at this size. That was kind of the idea since I went with a less expensive plan at T-mobile than before.

Overall I like the phone. It feels cheaper than the S3, but (duh) it is.

Cons: Nothing that wasn't expected in moving to a cheaper phone. Everything is just barely not as good as the S3.

5 out of 5 eggsGalaxy Light

Pros: Big improvement over standard Galaxy. Comes with SIM card. Went online to my t-mobile account and changed to the new card and the phone worked great.

Cons: Smaller screen than S3 or S4.

4 out of 5 eggsOK Phone for the $$

Pros: Nice size in hand and pocket, good processor speed, nice screen. Great battery life! Wi-Fi calling, can multitask even on phone calls.

Cons: Physical home button to easy to push by mistake, ear speaker can distort at mid-high volumes when using as a phone. No mass storage mode only connect as media device or camera modes. Camera quality sucks.... sorry no sugar coating that one.

Other Thoughts: The phone itself works well and has a lot of bang for the buck. The main issue I had with the phone was it had a hard time switching between LTE, WCDMA, and GSM. When it was connected to LTE network it worked great, but then when it tried to drop to 4G it would not make the jump correctly and would drop all the way to Edge (2G). I had to set it to only connect to WCDMA/GSM, which sets it to primarily 4G - once I did that it was very stable.

The other main issue I have is the physical home button is very easy to hit by mistake which then kicks you out of what you are doing. Also have to be careful with it in your pocket! As mentioned the camera quality is not great and is kind of clunky to use - if you take a lot of phone pictures this is not the phone for you.

On the plus side you get a quad core processor, that can multitask very well, and great battery life. I can read books, play games, stream music, and make calls all day long and the battery is generally above 20% when I plug it in to go to bed.

Most issues with the phone can be solved by googling the problem and finding out what settings to change. Most of the issues are specific to Samsung android phones in particular, and there are some annoying T-Mobil things but I am not docking the phone for T-Mobile's issues.

2 out of 5 eggsPoor Radio Reception

Pros: Size (I like a smaller phone), features

Cons: Really poor radio. Has major trouble keeping connected to 4G LTE, even in moderate strength areas. I had three of these and they all acted the same. If you look on the web you will see similar comments/reviews

Other Thoughts: I purchased 3 of these thinking I had a great buy knowing Samsung's rep. These are the worst phones I have ever owned. I loved everthing else about the phone. But that is a deal breaker for me.

3 out of 5 eggsgood TMobile no contract phone

Pros: Great price that is very difficult to beat.
The screen size is a good fit for a phone that will fit in your front pocket. Nice screen resolution.
Response time is good.
Overall very functional at a very good price.

Cons: Shipped by SIMPLY WIRELESS per UPS. No packing around the boxed item within the shipping container.
Can only be returned when you can get it back to NewEgg within 15 days of purchase. Take off 3 days to get it to you, and that leaves you 12 days to get it back to NewEgg.
Drops calls too much when connected by LTE. This can be alleviated by using another connection other than LTE on the phone. I have read that this is a problem for other Samsung phones.

Other Thoughts: You cannot beat the price for this phone. It works, and to get it for a littel over 130 is a very good deal.

1 out of 5 eggs3 months of frustration

Pros: 8GB of storage and microSD card. That's really about it.

Cons: Poor reception anywhere in the metro area. 1GB RAM isn't enough. I don't know how much is used by the system, but there is never more than 150mb available at start-up. Consistently drops my wifi connections. Freezes, hangs, sporadically reboots. No auto-correct spelling, only "auto-suggest". Battery drains quickly.

Other Thoughts: My HTC phone with another provider was much, much better. I'm even considering going back to my old Palm phone. I'm trying to get help from tmobile, but it's frustrating. "Please factory reset, and then install one app at a time, waiting a couple of days before installing the next app." This quad-core cpu is s-l-o-w. It's not a $600 phone, so I don't expect $600 worth of extras, but a phone that works isn't too much to expect. Good grief.
