The slim and elegant Nokia E71 gives you the tools and interface needed to keep abreast of your world, handling work e-mail and multimedia on the go. Integrated 802.11b/g WiFi gives you access to open networks at work, home or on the road. The included 3.2 MP camera/camcorder provides your own media recorders, and Bluetooth connectivity and stereo music streaming will keep you entertained if no one else is bending your ear. Getting a SIM card from your service provider will complete your connectivity wherever you stray.
Its stylish stainless steel case is matched to a 2.4-inch 320 x 240-pixel LCD screen and a full QWERTY keyboard. The system offers easy input with auto-completion and correction, and it learns from you for fast, error-free typing. Two customizable home screen views include active standby plug ins and application shortcuts for easy multitasking. Integrated A-GPS and Nokia Maps help you find your way anywhere you can find a connection!
For beautifully styled mobile efficiency, the Nokia E71 offers efficient workflow, quick communications and instant entertainment at your fingertips!
Pros: Sleek look & feel, tiny in size, very slim, very light weight, superior build quality, small but very usable keyboard, very stable OS - Symbian S60 3rd Edition (version 200.21.118 latest, make sure you do the update before you configure your E71), voice call quality is outstanding, battery life is amazingly good, lots of features included (and if something is missing for your needs just search the internet for a 3rd party program, chances are there is something that will work for you). The extra apps I installed and tested are: Gmail Mobile, Skyfire (browse any website like it is, YouTube, Facebook, etc.), Opera Mini (another web browser), DivX Player, Nimbuzz (IM), Fring (IM), Gizmo (IM), Skype Mobile, Google Maps, Joiku Premium (3G->WiFi bridging), Garmin Mobile XT (it's better than Nokia Maps and only one-time fee). Built-in music player is awesome (supports tags/art) and replaces my Creative ZEN 100%. I watch AVI videos using DivX Player (FF/REV features are slow though), FM Radio!
Cons: I have one stuck pixel (grey) on my screen and I have been using JScreenFix periodically to exercise it. It got much better but is still there. I hope it will go away completely soon. Does not charge through USB and the reason is it would take 1.5 times longer to charge if you use USB (500 mA maximum current) but if I were nokia I would give the ability to charge through both USB/Nokia connector. The 2.5mm audio jack is nice and auto sensing, so if you want to use 3.5mm stereo headphones you need to get a 2.5mm to 3.5mm two-band (3-section) not 3-band adapter to match pin out correctly. I wish it had true Push e-mail support out of the box but there is 3rd party software for that. Stock Nokia e-mail client must stay connected to the mailbox and it will keep automatically checking for new messages every 5 minutes. Everything is great and programs integrate into the OS pretty nicely although I do wish there was just a little bit more integration between 3rd party apps and OS.
Other Thoughts: This is my first Smartphone and I love it a lot. I am using it with AT&T in the US: $39.99 450-min voice plan, $5.00 200-msg domestic sms plan, $15.00 unlimited data (and yes I can tether it to my laptop), plus tax - this can't be beat. I got 8GB SanDisk microSDHC card for storage of Garmin maps and my multi-media files. I also got and recommend FlexiSkin and ClearRouch screen protector specifically for E71 from Am*z*n by BoxWave. I love how the OS lets you navigate around and switch tasks with a breeze. Everything is fully customizable if you spend time to figure it out but mostly everything is rather intuitive and I only had to refer to the manual a couple of times - no joke. The user interface is nice and feels great. You'd never believe you can navigate this well around without a touch screen, this phone is the ultimate proof that you don't really need a touch screen to stay just as productive. Soon I plan to launch a website dedicated to Nokia E71. I will post here again soon.

This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: First of all my favorite by far is the Nokia OVI service that allows me to sync my contacts, task list, Calendar and notes with the press of a button to OVI.com for free! Very fast UI, Fast real web browser, thin profile,10 hr talk time, loads of ram, great application library for just about everything you need, very stable OS, Intuitive interface, loads of features like native SIP/VOIP and great bluetooth stack, supports full SDHC spec so u can use any size card no problem, very fast boot compared to winmo and blackberry, endless customization, themes and apps are a breeze to install when they are signed and date is correct, lots of options for everything. You can wirelessly print docs! Plays youtube videos, Call quality is crispy and email support is great and a breeze to setup. All i entered was a name and password and the phone took care of the rest.No more fighting with complicated settings with blackberry and winmo to setup my email. REAL GPS! Support for exchange, an office docs
Cons: Gets a little warm when using data, trouble installing legit apps because of stupid symbian signed but i understand why they do have that (sometimes have to play around with the date), head phones are mediocre but nothing a pair of shure SCL4's wont fix, slow usb transfers, proprietary charger not usb, buttons are a little small but easy to get used to, camera is mediocre but 3mpx what do u expect? took a little while to add 1,000+ Mp3's to library but it plays them all magnificently, finger print magnet but easy to clean because its made of steel,
Other Thoughts: Hands down best phone ever. I have recommended it to all my clients. Loads of security features (I love encryption) I was playing the gameboy advance emulator (full speed) while downloading a 1.5 GB torrent to my memory card and playing music in the background and pausing to read the guide on IGN using the full web browser just like it would look on firefox. No crashes no hanging no resets no lagging. Copy and paste, MMS support (im looking at you iphone). Programs I recommend are: Nimbuzz for chatting(very easy interface: supports every chat service under the sun including facebook and gtalk and free skype calls over data), Vampent for emulation (gba! snes!), Symtella and Symtorrent (P2P), PDF+ for pdf, Garmin Mobile XT for GPS, Core player for video. I focused more on the real world usage not business uses of this phone. It owns RIM just for the fact that it wont erase all your data or send out emails on its own or show u the hour glass of death and u wont wake up to a JVM ERROR!

Pros: 3.5G, WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0, QWERTY, Solid Construction, Symbian OS, Decent Camera with LED Flash, Leatherette Sleeve and Wrist Strap
Cons: None so far.
Other Thoughts: Slides into my left pocket, goes with me everywhere. Very solid phone, seems to grab and hold a cell tower well, even if the signal is weak (better than other phones I've used).

NO T-MOBILE 3G!!!
Reviewed By: on 10/27/2009
Tech Level: somewhat high - Ownership: 1 month to 1 year
Pros: Stylish great size great keyboard
Cons: NO 3G on T-MOBILE!!! no 1700/1900 which is their band Advertised on every site as t-mobile compatible No usb charge
Other Thoughts: I found out the hard way that there is no 3g with this phone and t-mobile. It will work with edge though and that's ok unless you are in an area with only 3g. Then you can't even make a call. If you have at&t though, you will love this phone. All of my friends have iphones and I think they are chumps.

Nokia E71
Reviewed By: on 10/21/2009
Tech Level: somewhat high - Ownership: 1 month to 1 year
Pros: I purchased the E71x from ATT, pretty much the same phone. It has been wonderful. Solid OS, great apps once you find them. There are tons of free, open source programs out there for this phone. Battery life is excellent for a smart phone at what it is capable of. Nokia is not so popular in the U.S., but throughout the globe there is a strong following so you can find plenty of support and software.
Cons: USB charging as others have mentioned. When I've got my phone hooked up to my laptop to install or remove software, it would be nice to have it charging. E71x from ATT is loaded with junk bloatware. Cannot remove it without use of external software.
Other Thoughts: Keyboard took some time to get used to, but it's much faster than a traditional 12 key phone pad. Search for blogs about these phones. Tons of great info and links to be found.
