2 out of 5 eggsXperia X1

Pros: Looks nice.

Cons: Slow response time, not many useful apps for my taste, windows mobile stinks! Syncing to anything non-microsoft can be a pain. Very pricey for what you get (or don't get)!

Other Thoughts: Get a Nokia!! I've been a loyal Sony Ericsson consumer for about 8 years, but with each of the last few phones I've had (p990, p1 and now this) I've lost interest in their interface and their desire to please their customers. With each of the phones mentioned above I became more and more disillusioned as useful apps (calendar, music player, sync) were changed/modified until now I find them almost useless (especially with Windows mobile - garbage!!). I bought the nokia 5800 nav edition and have not looked back. Definitely more bang for the buck than with Experia!

5 out of 5 eggsVery Good Phone!

Pros: Over all phone was well built, aluminum brush finish. Top notch build compared to all the other Sony Ericsson and other brands I had used.

Easy to customize, just go to the xda-developer website and flash with the latest official Sony x1 rom for the N. America, it will fix alot of bugs and show battery life on the top.

As for main phone use its really good, signal reception was surprisingly very good compared to my other phones! Im well satisfied on its bluetooth connection with my other devices, its instant. Over its a well made phone that can be use as a phone and browsing internet.

For fun part, I installed 3D games, messengers and other Divx players. Its really good. Im having fun with the phone. But im still confused on the contact list! So far im very well happy, the phone itself serves are a mini computer. And guess what, I found a PS1 emulator, it works on this phone!

Cons: No detailed user manual! For some reason its a self learning thing for you. if you are a tech savy it wont be hard to learn.

Battery is alittle bit on weak side if you use it too much on wifi internet. So that is understood.

Phone is alittle bit heavy but its because the case is metal so its good.

Windows sometimes still hangs, but its not really that annoying compared to Nokia software bugs.

Other Thoughts: I hope they can release an official winMo 6.5 for this phone.

5 out of 5 eggsVery nice phone

Pros: 1) Very nice screen. One of the best on the market.
2) A lot of free apps available for WM.
3) Fast 3.5g connection. I was able to watch live TV without hiccups.
4) Great reception (with att)
5) I was able to use third party app and "remote desktop" to my home machine. Fast connection makes it do-able.

Cons: 1) A bit hard to press the keypad especially the middle row since the arc design. But I think just takes time to get used to it.
2) The X Panel does take a bit time to load. But I downloaded the SPB Mobile Shell and it works awesome.
3) Microsoft exchange push email slowed down the OS a lot. I need to do every 5 mins instead of as item arrives.
4) the build of the joystick is not as solid as I thought.
5) Speaker is very disappointing.

Other Thoughts: Overall is a very good phone. If you are techical, then you probably would love it. But if not, it might be frustrated to setup this device.

5 out of 5 eggsWhen it comes to phones, everything HAS to be compared to an iPhone now??? NO!

Pros: -Great call quality (Believe me, I had really cheap phones prior to this, and I enjoy not repeating "WHAT DID YOU SAY?" over and over again...)
-QWERTY Keyboard (Spacebar in the middle. Nokia products have their spacebar to the right, it makes a difference!)
-Windows Mobile 6.1
-Camera quality is great to be viewed on the cellular device itself (Do you seriously expect HD quality from a phone? You are over-thinking it...)
-Battery power is very durable to last you a couple of days on end
-Contact list is easy to edit and use
-Threaded SMS
-WiFi (An alternative if you do not have a cellular plan with mobile internet access, understandable speeds)
-3.5mm headset/headphone jack (As provided in the box)

Cons: -Price tag (Only if you are picky, but a cellular phone is a better investment than buying yourself a PS3)
-Small cracks nearing the sylus/battery pack for no reason at all (It has been rumored SE had a recent recall)
-Slight program switch lag, but understandable speeds (Alike all computers, RAM takes time to load. I've seen people being picky for 30 sec load time when my laptop takes 3x than that to load!)
-Hard to find black colored models without the price difference from the Silver version

People expect too much coming from a phone!

Other Thoughts: First off, customers enjoy bashing and comparing other phones to the apple iPhone and how its 'oh so superior that your current phone lacks'.

Well, you know what? This is not an iPhone nor apple product.

Don't let society control you! Most of the reviews are always negative, just because X phone is better than Y phone gives me the right to brag how my experience with X phone sets a generalization for the product. Some reviews are not honest and simply base their individual preference, rather than reviewing the overall product for the public.

This phone is a great product with a lot of features. But, features I wouldn't find myself using on a regular basis such as the panels. The keyboard is a necessity, as I have upgraded from a $80 flip phone to this $599 phone.
Touch focus on the camera is great technology. I have sweaty palms and originally was not a fan of touch-screen phones, but I found great response using the Xperia thus far.

Durable product if you have the $

4 out of 5 eggsi face the same problem with sony ericsson

Pros: i accept the person who was talk about water damage.before 5 months i use a sonyericsson w810..and it was water damaged so the SE void my warranty because of water damage.even they can collect money for repair and fix it,but they just returned like that...actually i know this is not correct place to talk about w810...just i want to say how the SE dealing the water damage..

Cons: SE HAS TO IMPROVE THEIR REPAIRS SERVICE FOR WATER DAMAGE

3 out of 5 eggsNot bad phone - WM leader - but still behind Nokia

Pros: I like the resolution of the phone - it might make it little bit too finger unfriendly BUT it works. Home PointUI is definitely MUST HAVE addition to this phone.

Cons: I completely disagree that this phone blows any Nokia of any series. I state that not because this phone is bad, I just say this because Windows Mobile IS BAD and will REMAIN TO BE BAD... Android and Symbian are FAR more functional because WinMo is computer based OS where Android and Syymbian are Phone OSs that are simply made for the phones.

Other Thoughts: I like this device and would love to see how 6.5 works on it. It is still WinMo but just would want to see it how handles it - other than that I think that Sony is on right direction of making quality device that are durable and of very good build.

1 out of 5 eggspaper weight

Pros: This phone is nice to look at .A bit heavywith lots of nice features.

Cons: This phone response was slow from day one.It was returned
for service and was told it had water damage (yea right).
If it had water damage they sold me a phone with water damage.
save your money and get an IPhone It has a lot of features and awesome apps.

Other Thoughts: No one pays that amount of money for a phone and allow it to get wet .
I believe that they use the water damage excuse so that they can void your warranty.
Save your money unless you like a very expensive paper weight.

2 out of 5 eggsLackbuster

Pros: Screen resolution, great keyboard and the camera is pretty good.

Cons: I read the previous newegg review and made sure to update the software on my phone. It didn't make any difference the phone still has the most annoying lag when navigating though the menus. Sony's panel interface look nice but takes several seconds to load the next prompt and your back to the non-intuitive windows interface. Even after setting up short-cuts it still takes longer to do the vast majority of task and the phone locks up about once a week. I thought that having a resistive touch-screen would be an advantage because I would have the option to use a stylus, but I didn't realize that the resistive screens would be insensitive to the point that I couldn't conveniently use my finger for most applications.

On a lesser note the GPS seems to take a long time to compute your location compared to other smartphones.

Other Thoughts: This phone is a great illustration of the fact that even if you thow a bunch of great features together you can still have a very mediocre product. I would have rated it slightly higher if I didn't feel like I wasted a ludicrous amount of money. The OS is what makes or breaks the usability of a product. I would save yourself much frustration and buy a phone that supports Android, iPhone , or Maemo OS.

5 out of 5 eggsBest phone in its class. Yes, better then the acclaimed "Iphone(s)"

Pros: Starting off, this phone's keyboard is the best on any handheld device. Depending on your personal fingers the Bold may be a bit better keyboard wise. But I expect most to favor the Xperia. What it comes down to is this phone is FAST. Google maps and GPS systems load with virtually no loadtime. It's faster then the Iphone in virtually everything. Including downloads and internet browsing. The apps that are available have been good so far for the Xperia. Chances are it wont get much better then it is now though due to sales of this phone being only moderate. Part of the reason is due to no provider branded support. This phone is for the hardcore. Panel interface is unique and great. But unless you're one of those constant myspace and facebook users, much else is usefull. Most of the panels are just for fun.. Which is a shame because this interface has great potential. Video resolution is also the best in class. Powered by such a high res screen made by Sony.

Cons: Windows mobile still has it's normal flaws. But, on the bright side when it comes to lag and loading times, I can safely say this phone negates those. Also, to improve more.. Equip this phone with a 8 or 16 GB memory card. Any windows device gets improved performance by doing so. (I have a 16GB in mine).

Price is obviously not very good for a phone with no internal hard drive. And the speaker quality is only decent due to side mounted speakers (What was Sony thinking here?) But when directing the speakers to a particular spot. It's amazing to say the least. Sound quality and voice quality come through the best I've seen, matching up to phones like the Bold and some of Nokias best handsets. Constant switching between calls/SMS/MMS can be a hassle though. As windows mobile has so many approval and accepting options for everything it does. Very annoying to have to accept every time you send a text to someone. But that's more windows fault, and can be fixed if you go through the steps..

Other Thoughts: I would of given it 4 stars if I graded it when it was first released due to lackluster performance and bugs. But after firmware and windows updates. It's now one of the best, fastest, bug free phones on the market. Blows any Nokia out of the water. (I feel bad for purchasers of any high end N series). But, to each his own.

If you're looking for top end performance on a windows device, with easy to use software and a phone that actually has app support aside from the iphone. This is the one. Sound quality is the best in class and the keyboard is something you'll be happy dropping that blackberry for. And as far as looks go I think it speaks for itself. Iphone users will bash this phone and do. Their great phones just don't hold much light up to this phone. The only thing this is missing is a front camera for video calling. But I don't even use that either way. I think it's pointless.

Long story short. This phone is the one.
