Best phone in its class. Yes, better then the acclaimed "Iphone(s)"
- Pros: Starting off, this phone's keyboard is the best on any handheld device. Depending on your personal fingers the Bold may be a bit better keyboard wise. But I expect most to favor the Xperia. What it comes down to is this phone is FAST. Google maps and GPS systems load with virtually no loadtime. It's faster then the Iphone in virtually everything. Including downloads and internet browsing. The apps that are available have been good so far for the Xperia. Chances are it wont get much better then it is now though due to sales of this phone being only moderate. Part of the reason is due to no provider branded support. This phone is for the hardcore. Panel interface is unique and great. But unless you're one of those constant myspace and facebook users, much else is usefull. Most of the panels are just for fun.. Which is a shame because this interface has great potential. Video resolution is also the best in class. Powered by such a high res screen made by Sony.
- Cons: Windows mobile still has it's normal flaws. But, on the bright side when it comes to lag and loading times, I can safely say this phone negates those. Also, to improve more.. Equip this phone with a 8 or 16 GB memory card. Any windows device gets improved performance by doing so. (I have a 16GB in mine).
Price is obviously not very good for a phone with no internal hard drive. And the speaker quality is only decent due to side mounted speakers (What was Sony thinking here?) But when directing the speakers to a particular spot. It's amazing to say the least. Sound quality and voice quality come through the best I've seen, matching up to phones like the Bold and some of Nokias best handsets. Constant switching between calls/SMS/MMS can be a hassle though. As windows mobile has so many approval and accepting options for everything it does. Very annoying to have to accept every time you send a text to someone. But that's more windows fault, and can be fixed if you go through the steps..
- Other Thoughts: I would of given it 4 stars if I graded it when it was first released due to lackluster performance and bugs. But after firmware and windows updates. It's now one of the best, fastest, bug free phones on the market. Blows any Nokia out of the water. (I feel bad for purchasers of any high end N series). But, to each his own.
If you're looking for top end performance on a windows device, with easy to use software and a phone that actually has app support aside from the iphone. This is the one. Sound quality is the best in class and the keyboard is something you'll be happy dropping that blackberry for. And as far as looks go I think it speaks for itself. Iphone users will bash this phone and do. Their great phones just don't hold much light up to this phone. The only thing this is missing is a front camera for video calling. But I don't even use that either way. I think it's pointless.
Long story short. This phone is the one.
paper weight
- Pros: This phone is nice to look at .A bit heavywith lots of nice features.
- Cons: This phone response was slow from day one.It was returned
for service and was told it had water damage (yea right). If it had water damage they sold me a phone with water damage. save your money and get an IPhone It has a lot of features and awesome apps.
- Other Thoughts: No one pays that amount of money for a phone and allow it to get wet .
I believe that they use the water damage excuse so that they can void your warranty. Save your money unless you like a very expensive paper weight.

Lackbuster
- Pros: Screen resolution, great keyboard and the camera is pretty good.
- Cons: I read the previous newegg review and made sure to update the software on my phone. It didn't make any difference the phone still has the most annoying lag when navigating though the menus. Sony's panel interface look nice but takes several seconds to load the next prompt and your back to the non-intuitive windows interface. Even after setting up short-cuts it still takes longer to do the vast majority of task and the phone locks up about once a week. I thought that having a resistive touch-screen would be an advantage because I would have the option to use a stylus, but I didn't realize that the resistive screens would be insensitive to the point that I couldn't conveniently use my finger for most applications.
On a lesser note the GPS seems to take a long time to compute your location compared to other smartphones.
- Other Thoughts: This phone is a great illustration of the fact that even if you thow a bunch of great features together you can still have a very mediocre product. I would have rated it slightly higher if I didn't feel like I wasted a ludicrous amount of money. The OS is what makes or breaks the usability of a product. I would save yourself much frustration and buy a phone that supports Android, iPhone , or Maemo OS.
