Pros: Works great. Really fast and has a ton of memory. Camera is very nice. I wash this phone under running water and it is cool to see it still works.

Cons: too light, sometimes I forget it is in my pocket.

Pros: Good phone in most aspects, but you throw away $600 if you use it for even a minute in 6" of water. Good battery life. Sleek aesthetic design.

Cons: This phone is aggressively marketed waterproof IP65/IP68 up to 1.5 meters depth for up to 30 minutes. THIS IS FALSE ADVERTISING and if you try to make a warranty claim on this phone with Sony they WILL tell you that it does not cover water damage.

Other Thoughts: I have had this phone for a little over 7 months and was very pleased with function and operation, HOWEVER I will never buy another Sony phone or any other product again.

I took this phone with me to the pool and my son asked me to take a couple of underwater pictures. I had not used this functionality yet, but it was one of the reasons I bought it. The dedicated camera button to take underwater photographs was something that was a deciding factor.

We were both a bit nervous about using this feature as neither one of us had used a phone which could be submerged. We ensured that both port covers were firmly attached and did a quick test run. We dipped the phone in the pool and took a quick snap shot. So far so good. So then we take a few more in no more than a 2 minute time period and then get out of the pool to look at the photographs since the light was so bright it was difficult to see what our pictures looked like.

Once out of the pool we found the screen would not respond to commands despite the entire phone being dried off. We decided to put on the lock screen, but this still did not clear up the problem. We then decided to do a hard restart on the phone.

The phone did load back up, but this time we noticed the screen start to flicker, and remained unresponsive. I immediately turned to phone back off and brought the phone home not starting it up again. I started to get scared that despite all the precautions we had taken before submerging the phone, it indeed had taken in water. We proceeded to use a high power vacuum to attempt to suck out any water that could have entered the phone through some type of manufacturer defect. We then placed the phone in a bag of rice, and began researching online. It turns out this is a major problem for this phone in which hundreds, maybe even thousands have had to find out the hard way.

The response from Sony? Water damage is not covered under the warranty. This is a defective product and known issue for these phones, but the refuse to address that the reason the phones are getting water damage is because of a defective product.

If you don't ever plan for this phone to even get mildly wet, then sure its a great phone, but if you do use it as marketed you will end up with a very expensive paperweight. Price quoted to fix the problem is $649, which is more than it would cost to buy a new one.

So not only will the warranty be voided for a manufacturer defect, they wish to rip you off with the service fee to fix the problem the phone had from the beginning, taking no accountability for a flaw in design or craftsmanship. So even if you don't plan on using your phone for underwater photographs, if something does go wrong, I wouldn't count on Sony standing by their products. They will use any excuse they can muster to get out of responsibility.
