Please read the product description carefully for all unlocked cell phones.

Some unlocked cell phones sold by Newegg may have previously been locked to a specific carrier. A carrier-locked cell phone may often have carrier-specific applications and branding. Some of these applications cannot be unlocked and/or may not function with a different carrier. Also, applications requiring a data plan may result in data usage charges from the original carrier.

In addition, the cell phone box may arrive unsealed and the cell phone may appear previously handled. The unlocking procedure requires unsealing the box and manually handling the cell phone. In this case, the cell phone should not be considered “tampered with” or “defective”.

1 out of 5 eggspiece of Shizza

Pros: iPhone competition, 5.0MP camera, video recorder. Upgradeable storage, good screen, good battery life. Does everything the iPhone does and more, but isn't an iPhone.

Cons: Piece of Shizza. I hate this phone, it's memory cache is smaller then a rats nut sac. I hate it, it always lags and I keep it regularly cleaned out. Infact It torqued me off so bad I decided to get on my computer and start writing reviews about it. I hate this phone. My iPhone never lagged on me like this. Biggest s hit brick I have ever had for a phone.

Other Thoughts: Smashing it, especially since it was free from my telecommunications company.

5 out of 5 eggsHero

Pros: Before anything else the 5 star rating is for the phone after it is rooted with a custom rom. As long as you root the phone and load a custom ROM the phone is AMAZING! If i had to rate newegg about NOT saying it was from Ukraine and didn't have the market i would have given them 2 stars.

The Hero:
Amazing apps
Good sound quality
Head phone jack
Very ergonomic feel
Responsive and vibrant touch screen
Best android phone I've used yet
Several other Pro's read online reviews

I switched from being a very long running Blackberry fan owning several. My last was the 8900 Curve.

Cons: Phone DID NOT come with market.
This phone is from the Ukraine and HTC does not support market their nor in most of the Asian country's.

The phone itself doesn't really have cons

Other Thoughts: I bought the phone before the first person said the phone didn't have the Market and was from Ukraine. Newegg didn't mention that info which would have lead me to buy from e bay. Because of the return policy i kept the phone and Rooted it with a custom ROM to get my app. I know know allot more about my Hero. The phone i received had the patched update so the normal and easy way of rooting didnt work. I have to down grade then Goldcard my SD card to load the custom ROM. Now that i am done with that the Hero is amazing.

Newegg is a great place to buy and i still recommend them highly just be very careful about unlocked phones.

5 out of 5 eggsKnow what your getting into

Pros: -Every bit as beautiful as you expect
-Responsive
-Clear sound, music has a larger than device feel
-Good reception (Wifi and Cell)
-ANDROID!
-Gmail/Contacts/Calendar
-Exchange Active Sync

Cons: No Android Market out of the box.
-Product is from Ukraine.
-Im not very good with Slavic languages so the manual is pointless.
-Requires tech knowledge if you want Android Market
-No 3G in US

Other Thoughts: The phone was fairly easy to root and install custom ROM. Do the research before you get yourself into something bigger than your comfortable.
If you want a phone that looks cool on the outside, then just open the box and your done. I you want to take advantage of the android platform for all it's worth, then do some reading before you purchase this.

4 out of 5 eggsInternational

Pros: Great user interface. Very smooth. Very intuitive. Keyboard and word prediction work EXCELLENT! Customization is easy... tons of options.

Cons: Manufactured in Ukraine. The main drawback to this is NO ANDROID MARKET. I contacted HTC Support and they told me that they cannot add it to this "model" (UKR). Almost every other country is supported. I don't know what makes phones from Ukraine different, but that is a big disappointment.

Other Thoughts: I was still able to install some apps by downloading and installing, but some apps are available only through the Android Market. This is a pretty key feature to owning an Android phone, so not having it was a big disappointment for me. I spoke to NewEgg about the fact that the product page lists HTC America as the manufacturer. They have agreed to exchange the phone for me, but there is no guarantee that it will be manufactured somewhere different. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed until I get it back.

...and I actually paid more to buy from NewEgg because I have always been satisfied by them in the past and I trust them. I didn't mind paying more for the quality that I was expecting. Guess I should have taken my chances with the better deal.

2 out of 5 eggsHTC Hero A6262

Pros: Android OS 1.5 is fast and stable. Screen is clear and smooth.

Cons: The Hero I received is an A6262 model which is from the Czech republic. it does not have the marketplace installed. This is a major contra issue. no ability to add apps via the place make the device nearly worthless to a user in a region that has the marketplace available to them.

Other Thoughts: HTC has no ability to change the ROM version. New Egg has relegated themselves as inert and unable to assist. the device at the time of purchase was not identified as having this major limitation. Using 3rd party rom's and nandroid booter makes it possible to change the ROM but at great risk of 'bricking' the mobile device. stay away until the region that the device originates from has the marketplace available locally.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Phone!

Pros: Very slick UI, when I first recieved it there was a bit of lag, but since HTC released the new update, everything has been silky smooth.

Facebook and Twitter intergration is awesome, the phone allows you to link Facebbok friends to your contacts, so their contact picture gets updated, and allows you to see your friends updates from the People application.

Full featured web browser with Flash intergration! The one thing I felt was lacking on other fruit phones was Flash support! Now you can see the internet how it was supposed to be seen. Currently as time of this review the included flash player is only Flash 9 Lite, in October there is supposed to be a beta release of the full Flash 10 for android phones, with a full release shortly following. But as of now it supports most flash content on the web.

Cons: No US 3G support. I'll admit I knew about this before getting the phone so it's not that big a deal to me, but it may be for others. If 3G is important to you, I'd suggest you look else where for a phone.

Other Thoughts: Lack of 3G in the US is the only real bad thing about this phone, but the WiFi makes up for it IMHO. Most places I go have WiFi access of some kind, so having a 3G signal isn't important to me.

3 out of 5 eggsExcellent Phone, Poor Language selection.

Pros: * Excellent built quality
* Android (Linux Based)
* Make Sure to install latest ROM from HTC 2.73.405.5
* Excellent size and weight

Cons: * For and "International" Unlocked version, sold in the USA I was surprised it only included English, Polish, and Czech for the locales. No Spanish, Italian, German or french
Spanish is the second most common language in the USA , and is spoken by over 12% of the population. The United States holds the world's fifth largest Spanish-speaking population
* HTC Customer support is useless. I was actually told over the phone that the only way I could get spanish on it was to go to Spain.
* My 5 year old treo, has about 10 of the most common languages to choose from.
* I know about the Custome Locale.apk, but it is not any good at letting you choose diferent OS language and text prediction languages. I need my OS in english and text predition in spanish
* Virtual keyboard is useless without text prediction in your needed language.
* If you have normal to big sized fingers expect alot of errors in your typing.
* Not all applications allow for landscape virtual keyboard

Other Thoughts: - 2 eggs
1 for not including more languages in the ROM and for HTC's terrible customer service. If any one can tell where I can get a ROM from spain it woud be appreciated. HTC could have provided it for me, but instead the choose to tell me that spanish was not supported in my device, It is almost 2010 (Thick globalization), but my device only supports English, Polish and Czech
- 1 for inaccurate virtual keyboard, even with calibration.
