Please read the product description carefully for all unlocked cell phones.

Some unlocked cell phones sold by Newegg may have previously been locked to a specific carrier. A carrier-locked cell phone may often have carrier-specific applications and branding. Some of these applications cannot be unlocked and/or may not function with a different carrier. Also, applications requiring a data plan may result in data usage charges from the original carrier.

In addition, the cell phone box may arrive unsealed and the cell phone may appear previously handled. The unlocking procedure requires unsealing the box and manually handling the cell phone. In this case, the cell phone should not be considered "tampered with" or "defective".

3 out of 5 eggsTime for prayer

Pros: Good to have an Android phone with access to data for relatively low cost.

Cons: A bit slow and sometimes unresponsive, particularly when browsing the Internet. My particular unit was originally destined for the Middle East and has apps I cannot remove that remind me when to face Mecca and to read the Q'ran. Farsi keyboard is also the default. Unfortunately the screen doesn't auto rotate, particularly when browsing the web. Some of this will just take some getting used to. This older version of Android doesn't have obvious access to Android App store.

2 out of 5 eggsBeware of Arabic phone!

Pros: responsive touch screen, wifi-access, GPS, unlocked

Cons: I can't say much because I got this phone and had to return it immediately. The phone is the Arabic version and tied to Etisalat company in UAE. The phone can use wifi and works with no-data plan sim card, but don't have Android Market App! That means I can't download apps at all. It came with can't-deleted religious apps which, i guess, will benefit users in UAE, but not me. Also, the phone language(locale option) is in Arabic & English only!!

So, make sure with the NewEgg or manufacturer that you need a US-version one if you want to order it from this webpage.

5 out of 5 eggsgood deal

Pros: Browses web, gets IMAP email, plays music, decent speakers, swaps between 3G/wifi seamlessly, small and cheap, easy to learn to use, runs stable.

Cons: Too slow for lots of games like Angry Birds or 3d apps.
Won't install many of latest video game apps.
Doesn't seem to have accelerometer/tilt sensor for gaming.

Other Thoughts: My first smartphone and it's a keeper. Does what I need most and runs great at home and with prepaid 3G.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing product

Pros: The wifi is just amazing, the features on the phone blew my mind, I used to have an iPhone but i like the myTouch 3G much better. It's an easy phone to use, importing contacts makes the phone a lot easier to handle. Also the android market was very user friendly, had good apps to download

Cons: the only bad part about this phone was the beginning, when you first get the phone, they tell you to activate the phone, but to activate it, you need a data plan. for all you pre-paid T-Mobile costumers out there, if you edit the APN to be "wap.voicestream.com" (no quotation marks when you type it in) you can get a 24 hour data pass for $1.49, this allows you to get EDGE/3G on your phone for that time span, and it allows you to connect to your google account, letting you acvtivate your phone

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: -Immediately uprades to 2.2 FroYo.
-WiFi calling.
-Exchange support.
-Great value for the features and moderate performance.

Cons: -Minor hiccups after OS upgrade (contacts wouldn't sync, factory reset fixed).
-Not the latest and greatest.

Other Thoughts: Bought this phone to bridge the gap until I can qualify for another discount. Wasn't happy with my previous phone (Symbian, enough said). Everything works well enough. With this phone version (1.2) you DO get the 3.5 mm headphone jack and better memory (288 MB RAM). Some lag here and there but mostly snappy and responsive.

2 out of 5 eggsPlain box???

Pros: Phone updated to Froyo when first activated. Screen is great and responsive.

Cons: This came in a plain box, with no carrying pouch. Only got the charger, cable, headphones and manuals. There was only a 2GB SD card, not 8GB like some others got. It also only comes with a 30 DAY warranty.

Other Thoughts: As much as I order from Newegg I was a little disappointed with this purchase. There are limited return options and the delivered product contents seem inconsistent in their availability as evidenced by the differing reports in other reviews. This is a new phone and I was expecting the whole MyTouch package with the case and the 8GB SD card. Yeah, I know... wah....

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome phone

Pros: Work with T-mobile prepaid which is what I need. Upgrade to Android 2.2 directly. Love the swype key, making texting way easier.

Cons: Haven't found any yet.

Other Thoughts: A great android phone for people who doesn't like to spend a lot of monthly fee $$$ on contract.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat phone

Pros: 1. all features advertized are working smoothly under version 2.2.1
2. great price for the features and performance
3. it was slow right after activation, but after a factory reset the responsiveness improved a lot (the upgraded version provides a skip option at login, so don't need to activate again)
4. works in Rogers Pay Go
5. native Google calendar and email sync instantly

Cons: require data plan to activate. I borrowed our friend's Rogers Pay Go phone and used my own SIM (my old phone was voice only as we don't data) to subsribe the Rogers 7 day data pass ($7). Then I put the SIM in the new phone and activate it (It took a good 8-12 hours for a complete OTA upgrade to 2.2.1). Glad that I do not need to upgrade manually. And it's good to test out the data service features (GPS, tethering ...) for future use.

4 out of 5 eggsYou need a data plan - at least to start

Pros: * Once the phone is activated it will work without a dataplan via Wi-Fi, but there is a big issue you must work around first (see "cons").

* Works with Rogers PayGo accounts.

* Phone is upgradable to Android 2.2. In my case this was automatically done by being connected to Rogers.

* There are numerious apps to turn off access to the cellular data network. This conserves battery life.

Cons: * The phone is a "brick" until you activate it. Until it is activated the phone you cannot do anything useful with it. You can't use it to setup Wi-Fi. You can't use it to play music. You can't even play with the user interface.

* You MUST HAVE A DATAPLAN to activate the phone. If you don't have one, you can borrow a friend's SIM card to activate the phone and then put yours back in afterwards.

* The default "access point" parameters for your carrier (assuming it isn't T Mobile) are wrong. You will need to find them on the web. In my case, I searched for "Rogers GPRS WAP settings".

* The phone can be a little sluggish.

* Wi-Fi drastically reduces battery life. (Get an app to turn it on/off as you need it.)

* The OS upgrade from Rogers appears to have cost me $5-$10 (in PayGo). It seems to simply charge you for data even though you don't have a dataplan. It was worth it though. (It's also mandatory for Rogers.)

Other Thoughts: I wanted a smartphone that could play music and sync to my calendar via Wi-Fi and could work with a "pay as you go" account. This phone definitely does that and more.
