5 out of 5 eggsOne of the all time best

Pros: To this day, this is one of the most user-modifiable phones ever made. You can unlock bootloader, sim unlock, root, flash custom roms, dual boot custom roms from flash or sd...the options are virtually endless. And for the time it came out it had pretty good specs too. This has been, literally, the best phone I've ever owned and I'm really, really sad to have to replace it finally to catch up with the times.

Cons: There are some of these models floating around with bad screen problems. You'll know if you get one believe me, it's a known issue. The only other thing I ever noticed with this model were some bad boards inside a few batches which caused all sorts of weirdness. 2 of my friends got 1 of each of these types. Mine that I purchased here has never had any sort of issue at all.

Other Thoughts: While it's become wildly outdated with the new quadcore phone now out in the wild, this is still a great all around phone. If you're looking for something to tinker or experiment on then this is your guy. You can do pretty much anything on it. Mine went from running winmo6 to 6.5 to dual boot 6.5/android on sd to full android in nand as has stayed there aside from a few rom experiments. This is just a very versatile phone and it's been very very good to me. Absolutely love it.

3 out of 5 eggsok

Pros: Touch screen interface works great, camera ok

Cons: Newegg sent me the phone without sim card.
Phones battery life not good- have to charge every day (after 18-24 hrs).
The voice queality was mediocre

Other Thoughts: newegg did a good job on shipping the order in time, phone was a good condition when I received it.
But they did not included the SD card- SHOULD HAVE DONE THAT

2 out of 5 eggsGood Phone but missing parts

Pros: This is a good phone if you do not get a defective piece. I have ordered twice and one of them was defective. But if this works well, then this is a very good phone.

Cons: The bad thing about this phone is it always comes with missing memory card, pouch and manual. I have experienced it 3 times in a row! I do not understand why NE should be showing this on their website when they are not going to ship it for sure. Actually the shipper is a company called Brainstorm who is the culprit. They simply strip off the package of the accessories before shipping.

Other Thoughts: The first phone did not come with the accessories and was also defective. The replacement phone sent by NE is working good but again no accessories. I contacted NE for this and they said they do not have the memory card in stock and issued me a $15 credit note each for the 2 phones. Actually the price of a 16GB mem card is around $30 shipped but I do not want to bother with sending the phone and deal with all the hassle of RMA and re-shipping.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat value, poor native OS

Pros: Unlocked phone for a decent price, fast CPU speed

Cons: Windows Mobile 6.5. Horrible.

Other Thoughts: Flash this with either Android or Windows Phone 7 ROM. Makes a WORLD of difference!

5 out of 5 eggsOne of the best from HTC

Pros: This phone still out preforms most of the competition, great screen, fast and very hackable. It's fairly easy to root this and stick Android on it and that makes it one of the best android phones out there. I'm particularly fond of the MIUI ROMS, blows everything else away.

Cons: Battery life bla bla bla, they all suffer from this. One of my pals got a verizon thunderbolt, battery stinks what else is new just deal with it.

Other Thoughts: Battery drain seems to be tied to 2 things , the SD card and the radio rom you flash. It comes with a 16gb sandisk yet when I got a what I though was an identical card the battery would suck down in an afternoon, I wish I knew more about the architecture of the cards to know why. The other is the radio rom, you can flash this separate from the OS, most use 2.15 but I think it's hit/miss what works for you.

If you like to experiment with different ROMS & hack around the OS get this phone, if not, go buy an Apple.

2 out of 5 eggsDefective Phone, missing parts

Pros: Big screen, attractive looking phone.

Cons: I ordered this ph from Newegg and when it arrived, the memory card was missing. Also the phone would not boot up and used to get stuck at the pink 'Stick Together' Screen. It booted to windows just once and restarted again within 2 mins and again get stuck at 'Stick Together' screen. I had to remove the battery every time it got stuck and even then no use on the subsequent boot. I had a very bad experience with this phone.

Other Thoughts: I sent back the phone and Newegg said that 'memory card' was missing. I told it was not sent to me in the first place. They agreed and posted the RMA which is the reason I have given the second egg in the rating. I am waiting for the replacement to be sent to me. Will keep you posted.

1 out of 5 eggsPhone Cool - Distributor Sucks

Pros: Love the phone, that's why I ordered it - TWICE.....

Cons: NE is fine, it's their distributors! They don't stock this phone, they place an order with a distributor..... I've had to order this phone TWICE because it didn't come with everything it was supposed to. The first order, got the phone, very excited, until I opened the packaged and found that the earbuds and the pouch were missing! After playing with the phone for about an hour, I discovered that there were three personal pictures of someone's dog on a bare matress and a beatup van next to a garage on the sim card, then after getting to the phone specs - THERE WERE OVER 49 HOURS OF USAGE on a 'brand new' phone! I sent back, got the replacement today - guess what - THE EARBUDS, POUCH AND THE SD MEMORY CARD ARE MISSING!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME - so now it's been a month between waiting for shipping labels, returns and exchanges and now I have paid for a month of service I haven't been able to use since I don't have a phone and a phone that is NOT BRAND NEW AS STATED!!! BEWARE......

Other Thoughts: So, in the end, I've been on the chat session for about half hour, then at least an hour with customer support and another 30 - 45 minutes with 'Escalated' service to basically find out that NE has no control over what the distributor sends them, so you could be getting a return phone and not get everything you are paying for. Now I have to wait another 2-3 days for a return label and then another 3 - 5 days to get my money back......This 'Brainstorm' is sure making NE look bad, they should find a more reliable distributor for products! Definitely not a happy camper.... Off to try and fiind another phone from a more reliable source.....

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Phone

Pros: Very Fast Phone
Very Nice Touch Screen

Cons: Battery Life
takes me through the day but starts dying at night i reccomend charging it before going out at night.

Other Thoughts: I installed Android on mine, it works much better than windows mobile. Windows marketplace is small but android is amazing. Just google how to put android on HTC HD 2.
