4 out of 5 eggsWildfire fan

Pros: JUST ROOT IT! Do not upgrade to Froyo (2.2). Check your HBOOT version to see if it is 0001 or 0002. Search the xda developers' web site for more information about Wildfire/Buzz. I went with root and installed CyanogenMod7 (v2.3.3) and never looked back. Excellent battery life and overclocked the processor with CPU Tuner (to play games like Doodle Jump as it should be), more internal RAM (got rid of all the pre-loaded junk from the provider), and overall a REAL Android phone! It's slim & light-weight and its soft-back feels good on the hand. I like the fact it has a LED flash (acts as a torchlight too), and the camera quality is not bad for this price range. Audio quality (mono speaker) is good, ringer is loud (yay!) and works perfectly fine with Google Voice too. Bluetooth works fine with my PC, handsfree and headset.

Cons: As most have observed, compared to higher-end Android phones, you may have only 50~100MB of internal storage, so for apps that don't have SD storage options (such as those that run widgets), you are limited by that. The processor isn't the greatest and there's no dedicated GPU. Battery life is so-so when factory stock. The screen resolution is a little non-standard, so I've had some apps that had their interface cut of a bit if I did not hide the status bar. Camera shutter-lag is kinda bad in low light shots.

Other Thoughts: The GPS module works, but I don't have a data plan so I don't know much about its performance "on the field". Now, this thing isn't a Ferrari, more like a Honda Civic Si, so don't expect heavy-duty games like Angry Birds or anything 3D/rendered to run smooth like butter. Be realistic, since you are buying a entry-level Android device! :)

4 out of 5 eggsGood phone

Pros: Upgradeable to Android 2.2, HTC Sense, Nice size for hand

Cons: A little slow sometimes, some apps are not available due to the small screen resolution.

Other Thoughts: The weather function works for almost everywhere in the world. It does a nice job of recognizing your location. Overall, a very nice first android phone.

3 out of 5 eggsWildfire?

Pros: Nice size; android os; HTC Sense

Cons: HTC Sense is European based, you'll have to dump the clock/weather applet immediately - no American cities; doesn't recognize 3G in urban areas - defaults to Edge; short battery life with or without wifi enabled, even shorter with it turned on. Slow processor, minimal onboard RAM for apps.

Other Thoughts: I chose this phone because it was a cheap entry into Android OS . If you're just getting started with an Android phone, you may like this.. odds are you'll outgrow this one fast. It's barely adequate for most tasks. Be prepared to dump it within a month.
