Please read the product description carefully for all unlocked cell phones.

Some unlocked cell phones sold by Newegg may have previously been locked to a specific carrier. A carrier-locked cell phone may often have carrier-specific applications and branding. Some of these applications cannot be unlocked and/or may not function with a different carrier. Also, applications requiring a data plan may result in data usage charges from the original carrier.

In addition, the cell phone box may arrive unsealed and the cell phone may appear previously handled. The unlocking procedure requires unsealing the box and manually handling the cell phone. In this case, the cell phone should not be considered “tampered with” or “defective”.

5 out of 5 eggsAT&T 3G Works On This Phone

Pros: To my surprise this phone does have the AT&T 3g compatible radio. I purchased this phone as a simple backup phone. Based on the newegg specs I expected the phone not to work with AT&T 3g and I was fine with that. I was just happy I could find a cheap android phone.

When I entered my at&t SIM card and booted the phone I noticed that the phone connected to my AT&T 3G microcell. I found this surprising because my Microcell only sends 850/1900 3G signal. When I realized that the phone was able to see 3G signal I said 'what the hell' let me enter AT&T's APN settings.

After entering the settings I was then able to surf using my at&t 3g data connection. Just to confirm this wasn't a microcell anomaly I went outside and watched the phone notification bar switch from '3G' to 'H'. So I'm kind of scratching my head here. The specs say it doesn't have the 850/1900 wcdma bands however the phone works perfectly with AT&T 3G.

I guess I'm really lucky!

Cons: Sometimes the phone is a little slow but I can totally overlook that fact since it was super cheap.

Other Thoughts: For a hundred and thirty bucks I have an android with hot spot functionality and AT&T 3G connectivity. I couldn't be more happy. Best backup phone ever!

4 out of 5 eggsGood for the money

Pros: Price, Decent battery life (not great, but not bad either... ran a GPS app on a 6 hour hike and the battery survived), Cheap, completely uncrippled, trivial to use for tethering in both linux and windows, touchscreen surprisingly easy to use despite small size

Cons: Next to useless camera (so bad, barcode reader apps don't work in bright sunligh!), Small and low-res screen, slowish processor, slow to load websites with graphics heavy or with javascript

Other Thoughts: I wanted a cheap android device with wireless capabilities so I could check email and try out android GPS apps. This fit the bill. It's pretty slow to run games (angry birds is sluggish, but playable), but it's fine for email checking, web browsing and GPS apps. So, you get what you pay for, but it's still quite serviceable.

1 out of 5 eggsWho needs a warranty?

Pros: A fair mix of equipment, when it works.

Cons: Six months in, it won't take a recharge anymore.

Huawei stands behind nothing, their policy only covers devices sold and returned in SINGAPORE. Apparently, consumer goods stop being genuine and warrantied once they touch a boat.

Other Thoughts: This handset alone cost me $25/mo, for how long it lasted. Total ripoff.

3 out of 5 eggs3G on T-Mobile

Pros: @Bidwell This phone will never support 3G on T-Mobile as it does not support 1700 UMTS band. It is made for Singapore market.

Cons: None

4 out of 5 eggsGood Unlocked Smart Phone for Cheap!

Pros: - Wifi
- Small
- Bluetooth
- Has a Camera (not good quality though)
- Nice small led indicator lights
- Nice blue color
- Email
- Youtube
- Android
- Loud speaker
- Google

I bought this phone to replace my old 580i sony ericsson. I got a great deal on the phone with the $25 off tax promotion that Newegg had. This phone is a pretty good step up from my old phone and what really attracted me to buy it is that I can browse the web, check my email and watch youtube on it. Wifi on the phone is great because I don't have a data plan. I am just a casual phone user and I do not do any heavy texting and data use.

Cons: - DO NOT USE THE WALL ADAPTER THAT COMES WITH THE PHONE. The charger that came with mine didn't work. It is really cheap in quality & drains the battery instead. That is why so many people have bat issuesd. Just use the USB cord and connect it to your computer.
- A little slow & can't handle advanced games such as angry birds too well.
- 3mp Camera takes pictures but is not very good in quality. Even my old 2mp on my sony ericsson takes better pics.
- GPS works but it is extremely slow & cannot locate you if you are moving. You have to be in an open area & standing still to locate the satellites. If you don't have a data plan, you cannot use google maps because the maps are not preloaded onto the phone. You have to download an app
- Battery life is not good if you use the internet, gps, or youtube a lot (4hrs batt life). Can last 3 days on standby only if you turn off wifi, GPS & bt
- Default ringtone and alarm only rings once and stops which is useless. Have to download zedge app

Other Thoughts: Only buy if you want an unlocked smart phone for cheap. Know that this phone cannot compare to the other smartphones out there such as the iphone. I have an itouch & the speed & screen resolution is much better than this phone. Only get this if you are a casual phone user.

I recommend jail breaking this phone which I did on the first week & there is a significant improvement. Doing this eliminates the junk apps that originally comes with the phone. This really helped speed up my phone & extended the battery life. You are able to overclock to 691mhz & underclock to 30mhz on demand. If you want to do this go check out the xda forums for android to look for mods. I highly recommend the DroniX operating system for the ideos by estaban. I have tried all the other ones but this one is the best in performance & visually (try to get the gingerbread theme). Next is the Froyoman by Dev team. The Froyoman is very good in performance, however the visual interface is not as appealing.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat phone best buying from t-mobile

Pros: You get more than what you pay. Great features.
Best for people who want an unlocked smart phone without data plan but have wifi access most of time .

Cons: Battery could be better but enough for a day, if you have a job during the day.

Other Thoughts: Small of course. But big phones with same features worth 2-3 times of the price.
slow a little bit. But it is nor designed for heavy duty use.
The phone sold here is for singapore. So it has some features that you have to change for USA user. Not all can be changed though. I am a Chinese, so I am not bothered.
It's best to buy it from T-Mobile which has swype and maps for GPS. T-MOBILE has made enough good changes for USA users.
OVERALL, if you're not a heavy app user, receive information mostly from text scource, and hate to spend money on data plan where you are under wifi almost all the time, it is probably the best phone you can have. I purchase daypass from T-Mobile when I am out for trips.
Besides, it is a good phone for kids if you do not want them play game frequently .

1 out of 5 eggsterrible product!!

Pros: -Newegg's customer service
-phone was easy to use

Cons: -the phone wouldn't take a charge after just 32 days of ownership
-screen size small; hard to text or use touchscreen keyboard (I've got small fingers)

Other Thoughts: I bought this phone since I didn't want to upgrade my AT&T account and pay $$$$ for data plan. I put in my SIM card and phone was ready to use. However, after just 32 days, my phone wouldn't take a charge. I left my phone charging for 30 hours and it still showed 1% charged. I called Newegg right away and at first the customer service rep said that they couldn't refund my money since I missed the 30-day refund policy by 2 days. When I asked to speak to a manager I got transferred to someone else (not a manager) but this rep was alot more helpful. I was able to get a pre-authorization on my return and the refund has been credit back to my account.
Don't buy this phone. It'll stop working after 1-2 months.

1 out of 5 eggsFour hour battery!! Android OS - Good, Battery - The Worst

Pros: Android OS, reasonable price, good features (compass, GPS, FM tuner)

Cons: Battery lasts only four hours!!!
Seriously, I need to take my charger with me just to make a call. I've only had phone 3-months, and this battery is the biggest downfall of this phone.
I would give the phone higher marks if the battery could last longer.

Other Thoughts: I will try calling manufacturer, but not optomistic.

2 out of 5 eggsDisappointing

Pros: unlocked, Android OS. Wi-Fi

Cons: The major problem is that the battery barley lasts a day and the device is very slow to charge.

The GPS is very unreliable, often does not pick up enough signal to locate.

No Adobe Flash

Other Thoughts: The navigation through the menus is not as intuitive as it might be, and the slow response at times doesn't help.

I was also disappointed that Adobe Flash is not installed because the processor is not powerful enough. I did not spot tha tin the fine print.

2 out of 5 eggsOpen Box shipped for new item, TWICE

Pros: I don't know, yet.

Cons: I ordered a NEW IDEOS. I received an open box, used phone. Called newegg. They wanted to wait to ship a new one until they received the return. I said, "Not cool." They shipped another out right away. Got it the next day. BUT it also was an open box, used phone?! Called newegg back, they took $40 off and we called it even. I really wanted a new phone, but it looks like Newegg isn't capable of delivering one. CHECK THE SEALS ON YOUR BOX when the phone arrives. Are the cables factory wrapped? This is the first problem I've had with newegg products. I'm mostly satisfied with their response, but I wanted a new phone, and they couldn't deliver what they're selling. Odd.

Other Thoughts: I haven't even tried this phone. But the experience of acquiring it has left a sour taste in my mouth. If I end up loving this phone, I might come back and re-rate it. But this low rating is here to help others realize that newegg is consistently shipping open box IDEOS as "new". Enjoy!
