1 out of 5 eggsDo NOT purchase for waterproofing

Pros: None.

Cons: Waterproofing not guaranteed.

Other Thoughts: Despite following the instructions included with the case, including the regular, periodic waterproofing tests, my Lifeproof case leaked while wading in a pool, killing my phone inside it. I filed a warranty claim, and Lifeproof offered to replace the case but would not provide any compensation for the phone. Tobias from Lifeproof stated "Our case is designed to be waterproof, but this also requires meticulous care to ensure that the case is in perfect working condition to be able to withstand being submerged." I followed the instructions provided to ensure the case maintained its waterproofing, because I live near the ocean and spend a lot of time in the water, but apparently that is not considered "meticulous care". What I don't understand is, if following Lifeproof's instructions is not condsidered "meticulous care", how is the consumer to know what is? Does that make sense to anyone? If the waterproofing fails, what are the chances that the device inside will survive? Probably slim to none. And Lifeproof's solution is to send you a new $80 case (not even the $80 itself) and provide no compensation for the electronic device that costs a few hundred dollars it is "warranted" to protect. In my opinion, this amounts to a zero confidence rating in the waterproof feature of this case. So, consider this when purchasing this case -- even if you follow the instructions provided, there is no guaranty that the case will remain waterproof within the warranty period, and should the waterproofing fail, the only compensation you will receive is a new $80 case for a device that no longer works. I highly recommend you look at other waterproof cases and take this one out of consideration.

5 out of 5 eggsUsing with 5s

Pros: I borrowed the same Lifeproof case from a friend to try, and bought my own since I liked it. Already had a glass of water spilled on it, no big deal. Case is thin compared to many others. Price was right.

Cons: None really. See other thoughts.

Other Thoughts: The case for the 5s has a thin membrane for the fingerprint sensor on the home button. Decided I didn't need it. I ended up placing a thin strip of good 3M tape over the little plastic nub that presses the home button to protect the fingerprint sensor on the 5s.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Case

Pros: Extremely rugged durable case that stays true to its name sake and statements on abilities.

Cons: Have owned two of these cases in the past 2 years first one however still in fantastic shape that i gave to a friend. developed an issue with muffling sound on the mic with phone calls. possible issue to look at when buying one of these. granted that issue did not develop till almost a year after purchase.

Other Thoughts: pros of this case definitely out way the cons only case more rugged in drops is a otterbox. however that case does not offer waterproofing at all or 100% sealed from dust which kills devices such as this.

5 out of 5 eggsGrea for what it is...WATERPROOF

Pros: great for beach, pool use, taking photos and videos underwater or use around water. Mine hasn't leaked a drop, and we have made tons of awesome family videos

Cons: poor sound quality, funky fit against screen

Other Thoughts: This case is not for everyday use, it is plastic and will wear out. However, it is GREAT for use around water and even swimming. $79 case is a lot cheaper than and underwater HD camcorder, so it's a great bargain for taking videos at the pool alone!

1 out of 5 eggsCase died after a year, wore out the edges. not a good product. Thought i had an indestrutible case, now I have a cracked iphone

Pros: was nice when it was brand new.

Cons: figured life proof meant it was going to last and protect my phone, spent $89 at the att shop when i got my phone. died after aboput a year no alarm went off telling me i needed to buy another $80 case.

Other Thoughts: Just let the insurance off, att was charging me for everything, pick a different carrier. then the case "fell apart" glass hit something and its smashed,

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Case

Pros: I'm not sure what the other reviewer's problem is.

I am an infantryman in the US Marines and I chose this case because I wanted to take my phone out to the field and on deployment with us so I could snap pictures and not worry about my phone getting damaged. It worked fantastic. I was not easy on my phone, we hiked through jungles in Austrailia, conducted raids on other ships, and even swam around in the Pacific practicing raids with our CRRCs (the little rubber boats), and my phone was never damaged. I kept it in my pocket the whole time, even when we were doing our boat course and we were constantly in the water. I've dropped it several times, no damage or scratching to the phone. The case is a champ.

Cons: I will say that it does kill the sound a bit when trying to listen through a speaker, which I don't like to do much anyway. It's a tad bit muddy and the volume is dampened a bit.

A minor annoyance, but a neccesary one for what the case provides, is the way you plug in headphones. There is a part that you screw in to the headphone hole in the case to keep it "lifeproof." You have to unscrew it to plug in headphones. You can plug the standard iPhone headphones in without the adapter, but this isn't waterproof. If you want to plug in any other headphones and/or you want to keep your phone lifeproofed, you have to screw in the provided adapter.

I knew what I was purchasing, and I understood this was nessecary to keep my phone protected, so it was never really a con for me, but I did lose the screw a couple times, I must admit. There is a little keeper on the adapter wire, but it fell off... So just be aware of that.

Other Thoughts: Great case, does it's job, and I'm pretty sure Lifeproof insures your phone from water damage now. That's how confident they are in their product, and I have to say it's well worth getting if you are consistently active with your phone.

Again, I am a Marine that has taken my phone on every field op since February, and our most recent deployment for the last six months, and had it in my pocket all along, through hikes, raids, boat courses in the Pacific... and I still have my phone, undamaged, with pictures to tell the tale. I highly recommend it.

1 out of 5 eggsrun away

Pros: Package it comes in looks nice, the rest is fail

Cons: Expensive, poorly designed, poorly made, poorly thought out.

Other Thoughts: The screen DOES NOT SIT FLUSH. That's right a huge ugly bubble that makes your iphone 5 look like a joke. What's worse is the sound quality, worse still is attempting to use the touch interface that the iphone5 has. Every time you attempt to touch the screen you have to first push down hard enough so the loose screen cover collapses and you can finally make contact with the iphone5 screen underneath.

I can't believe this design would pass ANY kind of QC or user tests.

I wouldn't use this case if they shipped free with a $5 bill in the package!! Yes, that bad - run away.

1 out of 5 eggsrun like hell

Pros: Box it ships in looks nice, like lifeproof put more design thought into the package than the phone case itself.

NewEgg RMA didn't charge me restocking fee.

Cons: Expensive, poorly designed, cheap screen cover, cover DOES NOT SIT FLUSH-- that's right there is a huge bubble right near the camera lense which means it doesn't sit flat. So now the cheap plastic cover flexes ontop of the screen every time you attempt to use the tought screen. Very ugly and annoying.

Major design flaw

Other Thoughts: I guess if you just charge it, keep it in your pocket and only use it with bluetooth-- Kinda like buying a car and just using it only your driveway.

Wow. Do get this case EVEN if they PAID YOU TO USE IT! (yes It's really that bad)
