5 out of 5 eggsWorks great.

Pros: No background hiss. Louder achievable volumes than previous fm transmitters. Easy to sync.

Cons: Doesn't always auto-sync.

Other Thoughts: I researched fm transmitters quite a bit before purchasing this and was looking for something to listen to audiobooks and podcasts with in my work vehicle as I drive 200-300 miles a day. Hands free phone features are just as great. This little gadget is awesome.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great!

Pros: Connects easily, controls work well. Would recommend to anyone who needs a portable bluetooth solution and doesn't want to rip out their radio. Has served me well, despite leaving in a hot car during summer.

Cons: Low bass.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Easy to set up and use. Decent range, good sound quality, don't need to find a perfectly clear frequency, it usually overpowers the other radio station, and every function works as it should.

Cons: Sometimes a bump on the road and the weight of the device will temporarily cause the device to shut off.

5 out of 5 eggsBest FM Transmitter Out There

Pros: We've had 2 of these for 2.5 years now. Both are still in great working-order.

I've tried several other car FM-transmitters over the years [audio-jack input ones]. All of them were easily swamped by local stations. This one, however, overrides them.

Any time I'm driving long-distance, when the FlexSMART-X2 starts encountering interference, I'll regularly discover that I was tuned to the same frequence as a local station - with a strong signal, not less!

The only time I have any interference from local stations is when I'm in a major metro-area with the entire FM-band packed full of stations, with barely a free frequency. Even then, the interference is due to the random-diffraction of a radio signal off of a building or bridge. For some reason, the random shift of a neigbouring frequence into the band that the FlexSMART-X2 is tuned to causes the FlexSMART-X2 to have problems. Strange, but temporary [and only a real problem when listening to audiobooks].

Anyway, this device is great. I highly recommend it.

Cons: On one of our 2 FlexSMART-X2 devices, the volume/tuning knob is kinda stiff, and less-sensitive [i.e. you have to turn the knob quite a bit to get it to do something].

One other minor annoyance, also with the volume/tuning knob, is changing from tuning to volume. The FlexSMART-X2 will change its display to volume control, but turning the knob still changes the tuning, and not the volume. Happens with both of the FlexSMART-X2 we own. Annoying, but easy enough to recover from.

Still, both of these flaws aren't enough to detract from my rating. This transmitter is just that good.

Other Thoughts: Those people who complain about the "Play" button not starting your music player, or starting the wrong player? That's a problem with your phone or mp3-player, not the FlexSMART. It'll have the same problem with any Bluetooth media-player controller.

5 out of 5 eggsLove it

Pros: Workes seamlessly with my phone.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I own two of these for two vehicles. Both work without issues over FM in my cars that have no aux inputs. Recommend to all.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Cool

Pros: Purchased this for my daughters car. Car has nice in dash CD player with good speakers, but no USB or AUX ports, no tape deck to connect to, this was the only option for connecting phone to car system. I was skeptical, but works like a charm and sound very good also gives you hands free phone calls and USB port for phone charging. Really nice item...

Cons: New Egg put it on sale for $20 less the day after I bought it. :(

5 out of 5 eggsLOVE IT

Pros: VERY clear. Zero "installation". Love that you can also charge your phone while using this. It's super easy! Absolutely love it. Brings your "older" vehicle into the new century.

Cons: In the deep country, got a little bit of static but 99% of the time it's crystal clear.

Other Thoughts: This is a great product! DEFINITELY worth the $50 dollars!

4 out of 5 eggsA great transmitter for the price

Pros: -Easy to install, pair, and use
-Good sound quality for music
-USB charging is very convenient.

Cons: -Can only recognize one device at a time
-Call quality is less than ideal
-MSRP is not worth it, only purchase while on sale

Other Thoughts: Overall, we are so pleased with this device, we have purchased one for each car. The complaints above are pretty minor annoyances, but can be deal-breakers for some people depending on what you're really trying to get out of it.

That said, the microphone quality is usable, but poor enough to knock an egg off the final score. Also, this item should only be purchased while on sale. $120 is just too much for what you get.

5 out of 5 eggsThe End-All Transmitter

Pros: -easy assembly
-fast, stable connection
-attractive, solid design
-great sound
-came with cables for charging and non BT devices

Cons: None really. Others have given this device low ratings due to volume issues, and while the device does transmit music at a slightly lower volume than normal for an FM transmitter this trait is pretty typical. Not worth an egg deduction. Just crank it a bit more!

Other Thoughts: I've gone through countless transmitters over the years; battery powered, DC powered, iPod specific, 3.5 mm, you name it. This is by far the highest quality transmitter I've had yet, and with the reasonable price to boot I'd recommend this to anyone that isn't deaf.

If you're looking for the perfect new transmitter, you probably just found it.
