1 out of 5 eggsProbably fine if you live in an unpopulated area

Pros: In my experience, barely functional.

Cons: Could not get clear sound, because it turns out - as Accessory Power, the device maker concluded in a series of email exchanges - there are no vacant FM channels where I live (Seattle). Hard to imagine it's much different in most urban areas. To its credit Beach Audio told me it would not deduct a 15% restocking fee when I returned the transmitter, and Newegg, to its credit, covered the return shipping. I will have to spring for an after-market radio with built-in auxiliary audio/USB port (about 5x the cost of GOgroove) if I want to play tunes thru car speaker from my iPhone's music library. Device probably works great in Montana.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat FM Transmitter

Pros: Small, sounds fabulous, wireless, works great with my Nokia Lumia 810. Seriously though, the sound is fantastic if you're on a clear station.

Cons: The hands-free feature is pretty much useless, apart from reading text messages to me. Having to fumble with taking my calls off Bluetooth every time kind of sucks, but the hands-free is not at all what I got it for. I got it to play music and it does that perfectly.

Other Thoughts: Mine did not work when I initially plugged it in. After disassembling the part you plug in, I found that the factory had not assembled it properly. It wasn't a big deal to fix, just a matter of putting a little clip in its rightful place, but I shouldn't have to do that.

It also tunes to odd radio stations that most vehicles will not tune to such as 100.2, 100.4, 100.6, etc. So you often have to use the auto-tune button a few times before it dials in a legit station.

5 out of 5 eggsgood buy

Pros: solid build quality, nothing feels cheap or flimsy.
looks kinda cool
delivers solid sound with a very minimal buzz of interference
connects to Bluetooth easily and is very self explanatory in its use

its the swiss pocket knife of cig powered devices, USB charging being the most useful, streaming Pandora drains my phone, keeping it charged for a longer drive is a big deal.

Cons: sticks really far out before the head unit is attached so its a bit of a tight fit with my big hand, putting my car into park while its plugged in but its doable.

power connectivity is a little spotty but its possible that's because my car belonged to a smoker before me and the cig lighter has been run through its paces. however it does pick up right where it left off if power is lost and restored, its like nothing happened.

price is a little high, but the addition features being offered makes me feel better about it.

Other Thoughts: Clearly made the right decision purchasing this one, the one with the neck would be helpful if your car shift stick would come into contact with this one. I'd look at where your power source is and see what you need. if you don't much leave your town/city and the radio frequencies in use aren't going to change, i would search for a completely dead radio frequency on your radio and then sync the device to that station and just keep it on that.

4 out of 5 eggsSolid deal

Pros: I am quite happy with this purchase it gets pretty good signal, but its hard for me to speak of the sound quality since my car has really bad speakers. I really like that it had the AUX (which I use more then the bluetooth) and USB ports.

Cons: I have to admit that it slips out of the socket sometime but that may just as easily be a problem with my car and not the device itself. Also the neck which it could get in the way and while it worked in my car it would be in the way in my girlfriends car.

Other Thoughts: Personally I was not a huge fan of the styling but it was cheap and well reviewed so I went with it

4 out of 5 eggsCorrecting my earlier review

Pros: Everything from my previous comment... plus...

You *can* initiate a hands-free call.

Cons: Lousy docs. I figured out the dialing thing today by accident. Not documented (or if it is, documented poorly) that you initiate a call by holding down the button for 3 seconds.

Other Thoughts: Still a 4 because of the docs.

4 out of 5 eggsPretty good

Pros: Works as advertised. Streams my iPhone audio and provides some hands-free operation.

Allows me to charge while using.

Cons: I can't find any way to *initiate* a hands-free call from this device, using an iPhone 4 (iOS6). Thus, only 4 eggs.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Perfectly

Pros: Works great, never loses connection, great at blocking out low levels of static interference when using a frequency that has poor reception from a far distant radio station. Overall, works exactly as I had hoped.

Cons: None really.

4 out of 5 eggsstatic under certain conditions

Pros: price, sound quality

Cons: static in urban areas

Other Thoughts: I've lived with the transmitter for about a month. When used in my home town (Madison, WI), it works great for music. I've taken several trips to Chicago, and it doesn't work nearly as well there. I get a lot of static in Chicago, and while usable, it is nowhere near as good as it is at home.

I've concluded that the reason why reviews seem to vary so much for this item is that reviewers live in areas with different conditions. The more densely populated the area you live in, the more densely populated your FM dial will be, and the more interference you'll get. The instructions mention removing the external antenna, which is not an option in my car. Perhaps this would improve the interference/static in big cities.

People I've had conversations with on the phone report that sound quality on telephone calls isn't great. From the driver's point of view the hands-free calling works well.

Pairing with the phone and selecting an FM frequency are easy to do.

Overall I'm happy with the device and glad I bought it.

5 out of 5 eggsPerforms as expected and then some...

Pros: Easy to pair and select an unused FM station. Allows tuning of 0.1 Mhz so you can use any frequency you want. Sound quality is WAY more than I expected for a lower cost Bluetooth FM transmitter (and it's plugged in inside my center console, out of site). Auto-connects every time I hop in the car with my phone and Bluetooth on.

Cons: Cannot pair with more than one device concurrently (but it's not advertised to and not a major drawback since it's SO easy to pair). Other than that, the portion you push into the cigarette lighter is longer than I would PREFER. I'd never knock an egg off for my own preferences... if I didn't find it acceptable I wouldn't have bought it :-p

Other Thoughts: I listen to music, watch videos, listen to voicemails, and took a few phone calls with it... awesome performance no matter what I use it for.
