1 out of 5 eggsdoesn't work

Pros: decent price, detects my Huawei EC168 AllTel air card, wireless signal is excellent

Cons: it simply won't connect. it has 68% signal strength, followed all instructions on here and in the manual and it simply won't connect. even tried putting in the #777 for the number to dial and still nothing.

Other Thoughts: definitely won't recommend this. i think i'd rather spend the $300 for a proprietary one and know that it's going to work right away without a huge headache.

4 out of 5 eggsSo Far So Good

Pros: I'm no expert- this is my first ever wireless router and I was able to get it working in about an hour. It supports my Verizon U-150 modem fine. As the other reviews say, the directions and printer material are miserably lacking and unhelpful. I could access the GUI from the CD included and that made it much better for the initial setup of the router. I was able to enable encryption pretty easily and my kids can now access our lone internet connection with their iPads and Nooks without trouble. I wish it had another LAN connection so that I could set up wireless printing, but there is only one LAN connection.

This router was CHEAP- $10 after rebate and shipped free and fast by New Egg. We'll see if the $20 rebate actually comes back, but I figured for the money, it was worth taking a chance. So far so good.

Cons: only a single LAN port, instructions are WORTHLESS. Luckily I had 1/2 a clue, but I am not the most tech savvy.

Other Thoughts: Like I said, for $10 it's hard to go wrong. And it seems to work just fine for my needs.

3 out of 5 eggsNot sure why this is called a cellular router

Pros: Rather inexpensive router that works well

Cons: The device has no modem or built-in 3G capabilities. This is a basic wireless b/g/n router with a USB port where you can plug in your own USB 3G modem. It is also rather bulky and requires a separate outlet. You'd be better served by getting a personal hotspot directly from your carrier or buying a portable router like the ASUS 330.

1 out of 5 eggsHad to throw it away

Pros: Very low price.

Cons: Was not immediately compatible with my AT&T card. Only one of the most prevalent networks in the US. Horrible set-up instructions. Ignored by customer service, both on-line and by voice mail. Finally gave up, considered it a loss and lesson learned.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great

Pros: Has WAN and LAN port... I have a regular WIFI + LAN network. I use this for backup with VZ UM175. I simply have a separate SSID for the CDW350 than the SSID for the DIR-655. I have a 1GB Switch that I plug into the DIR-655. If my Cable Modem goes down, simply unplug the cable from the DIR-655 into the CDW350 and I am all set with a backup network. No more panic attacks -- waiting 2 days for the cable guy to come out.

Cons: The original firmware auto-deteced the UM175. The latest firmware (5/2010) doesn't auto-detect it. Need to manually define. Go to INTERNET SETUP | COUNTRY= USA | TELECOM=OTHERS | 3G NETWORK= CDMA2000/EV-DO | DIAL #= #777 and you are set.

Not a big deal, but it's only 150mbs N, as documented.

Other Thoughts: Compact size, nice for travel.

1 out of 5 eggsDied

Pros: Easy to set up

Cons: Wi-Fi is useless. As soon as you start using Skype - cuts off the connection every 70 seconds .

Other Thoughts: Died in 33 days unconditionally.

4 out of 5 eggsaluratek cdw530AM 3g

Pros: Once you get it working (use instructions on the CD) it's a great device! I was able to connect my AT&T compass 885 up. Coverage is good for the small single antenna. 3 story house and able to reach everywhere even to the garage. Many security options.

Cons: You may as well file the quickstart guide in the garbage. Very confusing (probably foreign trasnlation). The "wizard" was useless too. The CD (which is a different company label) had a set of direction that was much better! Basically.....go to advanced settings and leave all the setting dynamic IP and the 3 g settings blank for verizon, sprint, and at&t. Make sure you have used the usb on a pc first for activation. THEN place it in the router. Picked it right up and started working. Had taken an hour to set it up. Had I known the blank settings and not used the wizard, it would have been 5 minutes!

Other Thoughts: Nice product. Small and very fast! just bad instructions and very little tech support.

2 out of 5 eggsUltimately, It Works

Pros: It does what I wanted it to do. I'm now able to share my Sprint 3G connection, which uses a Sierra Compass USB modem. The router has good range; 5 out of 5 bars everywhere in my 2 story house, plus basement, and far enough outside to cover the homes of several neighbors in most residential areas - you may want to use security, which is easy to set up. I'm also able to share files and printers, quickly and easily.

Cons: I suspect the instructions were not originally in English, and the translation isn't good. I became confused with a couple steps, and spent hours per day for 4 days trying to get it set up. I looked for a tech support number, but there is none. I tried going to the website on the packaging, but that site is apparently non-existent. I tried emailing the address provided, and the email came back as non-deliverable. I was about to send it back to Newegg, when I decided to stop at the Sprint Store and see if someone there could help me. I lucked out there, finding a person who knew what I had to do to get it to recognize and use my modem. Though I was now connected via 3G on the host computer, I was still experiencing "limited connectivity" when accessing the network with my laptop. I probably messed something up in all the previous attempts, because I finally reset it to factory defaults and started over. From there it was up and running in about 20 minutes.

Other Thoughts: If it continues working as it has been for the first couple days, I would be willing to rate it higher. The reason for the "2" is the difficulty in setting it up, and the absolute, total lack of support. If you're familiar with setting up networks, and don't really need the instructions, you may be just fine with this, but despite being an advance computer user, I could have really used the help when it comes to networking. Without any tech support, the set up was a nightmare.

1 out of 5 eggsThe Aluatek CDW530AM will not accept my Sony Ericsson MD300 3G modem. Aluatek HELP responded "it won't work with your modem." Attempts to gain a list of what modems will work have gone ignored.

Pros: Oh, it's cute as a button

Cons: Won't work with my modem, can't get a list of modems that will work with it.

Other Thoughts: Aluatek, as well as other companies should advertise the limitations of their equipment, and at least help when a customer needs information.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent

Pros: Sooo easy to set up, what a pleasure for a change. Wish I had just found it sooner and saved myself a lot of headaches! Everything working and laptops connected.

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: This is an awesome deal. A great product as usual from Newegg!
