Panasonic is one of the premier names in consumer electronics, and has been for decades. This 1.9 GHz Digital DECT 6.0 phone set, with base and four additional handsets, lets you move freely around your home with startlingly clear sound. The encoding technology provides greater protection against eavesdropping for all your calls, and the 1.9GHz frequency range keeps you out of conflict with other wireless devices such as computer routers, wireless keyboards, and microwave ovens.
Program each handset to ring — or not — as you please. Before going to sleep, simply set the bedside handset to Night Mode so that it won't ring in your bedroom. In the meantime, the handset in the living room or elsewhere will still ring when that important call comes in without disturbing the person who's sleeping. If necessary, leave the ringer off, and the light-up indicator at the base of the phone will alert you when a call comes in!
Expandable up to five handsets in addition to the base, this setup lets you have the chance of a phone within reach no matter where you go at home, and its power will let you hear clearly no matter where you go!
Pros: 5 total phones, and expandable to 6. For the price, this set cant be beat! Top quality from Panasonic (again). Lots of options. Programing is very easy. Excellent range and sound clarity! My favorite feature is the call blocking! The phones themselves can block any number that you want it to, and it can also block the calls that come in with no number, or (Out of Area, Private number, Private caller), which is a huge plus in my book! Great keypad layout, and big keys. Plus the keys are all backlit! You can make, and receive calls with the base unit alone. Basically all of the features of past Panasonic models, with more to offer, and built very solidly! It feels like a phone, not a toy, which many other brands feel like! Long talk time, and standby time! I just think these are the best cordless phones built! I've used GE, At&t, and Vtech, and this Panasonic model are far superior! Both in features, and quality!

Other Thoughts: Great price for this set, and would recommend them to everyone! We are in a Medium size, 3 bedroom, Ranch style house, with plenty of walls which separate the rooms that the phones are in. Lots of electronics, from LCD HDTV's to Plasma HDTV's to computers, and other electrical appliances, and have no signal interference at all. The phones also have no problems operating outside of the house, when doing yard work!

speaker phone way too quiet

Pros: 1) 5 phones for $129
2) large brightly lit screens on handsets
Cons: 1) Even at full volume, the speakerphone on the remote units is very soft. I have a 2-yr-old Panasonic system and the speakerphones are very loud. At their loudest, these are quiet
2) There is a slight hiss in the speakerphones that's very obvious because they are so quiet
Other Thoughts: Once you unpack these you'll never get them repackaged.

Great phones

Pros: Sound quality and range is great. We cna use them all over the house and they sound great. The other cordless phones we have don't work near as well. The intercom feature is great; no more yelling up and down the stairs. The phones are sturdy and have good weight. Uses AA rechargables, not some special battery. Battery life is good but we do tend to keep the on the charger all the time and have had them only a week. Call ID announce is great to have.
Cons: Would be nice to be able to label the intercom stations on the menus; ie: Instead of 1, 2 ,3 etc.. have 1. Bedroom, 2. Kitchen, 3. Family room, etc... Wish they had a set with 6 phones in it. I could only find a 5 phone set and I am seriously considering buying the extra handset. Call ID announce usually comes on the 3rd ring.
Other Thoughts: An All-Call on the intercom would be nice.

Pros: * Large handsets with large buttons (easier for older folks) * Good Battery life * Compact charger stations
Cons: * Poor Answering System - Very faint and distorted speaker on base unit when listening to messages, even at full volume. I am going to have to use my old cheap UNIDEN base as the voicemail system. * Very "un-informative" new message indicator
Other Thoughts: If it wasn't for the very poor voice mail system, this would be a good buy. I wish more people mentioned this in their reviews.
