Guitar Hero World Tour invites you to put down your guitar – and pick up a pair of drum sticks or a microphone and rock out! World Tour adds the use of percussion and vocals to the rhythmic play.
Gameplay remains true to the original with improved mechanics resulting from the expanded capabilities. A new, "Beginner" difficulty setting lets newcomers get into the game and "Easy Rhythm" allows younger members of the family to join in. Play with local or online players and climb your way to the top with Band Career mode. Take your game online and compete against other players in battle of the band competitions.
All of the songs will be derived from master tracks with bands ranging from the Eagles and Billy Idol to Sublime and Linkin Park. No more strict set lists. Instead, play gigs through your "career" and choose which songs you want to master first. World Tour takes things to the next level by allowing you to create new songs – complete with lead, bass and rhythm guitar and drums – and upload and share your tunes. The wireless guitar has increased capabilities letting players alter the tone of sustained notes, play staccato and even mimic slapping the bass through the use of the new touchpad located just below the fret buttons.

A great addition to the Guitar Hero series
- Pros: If you like Guitar Hero or any type of rythme game, this game is for you. There's tons of decent and others good on the disc, lots of it, especially for the Wii. It's the first title on the Wii that has downloadable content. Right now there's a handful of good songs that's in the Music store, 200 Wii points each, 3 of them which is free. You could also make your own music and share them with the community or just download some, there are really some creative music, such as the Mario theme that you could play on the guitar. The guitar is pretty standard, the slider (touch sensitive) doesn't really make a difference in the experience, using the buttons are a lot easier.
- Cons: There's Rock Band 2, which is probably better. The only thing that Guitar Hero has that Rock Band 2 doesn't have is the Music Creator. It's your choice.
- Other Thoughts: It's a fun game. If you've never played Guitar Hero or are a verteran this is a great game for you.
Great out of the box!!!!!
- Pros: Great! everything worked fine... The kids love it.... and well...... I do too... :)
- Cons: should have bought the full package with drums... but if you are looking for another guitar and the game this is the way to go

Guitar Hero
- Pros: ok 4.5/5
This game allows a wannabe guitarist to understand how fun it could be to play in a band. That being said, the game itself is obviously much easier than playing the instrument itself. As an average (at best) guitar player myself, I find the medium setting to be pretty easy but the Hard setting will take some time to get thru. My 11 year old daughter is at the same level but she plays it non stop. The interface is about as good as it will get with the limited number of buttons.
Good for teaching kids rhythm and to not look at their fingers as they play...some benefit on how to hold a guitar but IMO doesn't do much for actually playing a guitar.
- Cons: Some of the songs are too hard (thrash) for the avg kid in my opinion. Would rather have had more mainstream rock (more Heart, Scorpions, Stones etc than Slipknot type)
- Other Thoughts: Realize the software will allow hammer on's and pull offs and you will find things much easier.
