Guitar Hero World Tour invites you to put down your guitar – and pick up a pair of drum sticks or a microphone and rock out! World Tour adds the use of percussion and vocals to the rhythmic play.
Gameplay remains true to the original with improved mechanics resulting from the expanded capabilities. A new, "Beginner" difficulty setting lets newcomers get into the game and "Easy Rhythm" allows younger members of the family to join in. Play with local or online players and climb your way to the top with Band Career mode. Take your game online and compete against other players in battle of the band competitions. All of the songs will be derived from master tracks with bands ranging from the Eagles and Billy Idol to Sublime and Linkin Park. No more strict set lists. Instead, play gigs through your "career" and choose which songs you want to master first. World Tour takes things to the next level by allowing you to create new songs – complete with lead, bass and rhythm guitar and drums – and upload and share your tunes.
World Tours adds a USB microphone and wireless drum set along with increased functionality to the guitars. The drum set uses the Wii Remote to connect wirelessly and is velocity sensitive - letting players alter the sound of the two toms, snare, the pair of symbols and the bass drum pedal. The included guitar features an additional touchpad which lets players alter the tone of sustained notes as well as supporting other methods of guitar play.

Great game, but needs quality control
- Pros: Guitar Hero World Tour kit is also compatible with some of the newer Rock Band Games. Great game to have if playing with 3 other people. Also has a great songlist to start off with and includes the ability to download user made songs and download new songs from the in-game store.
- Cons: One of the cymbal pads came DOA. Found out online that the pads for the drum set weren't made very well and that it's a common issue to have pads that either don't work or work TOO well (pad will hit even when hitting other pads due to sensitivity). Drumsticks that come with the kit are flimsy and feel like they were made with really cheap wood.
- Other Thoughts: I purchased from Newegg only because it was on sale for $159.99 + free shipping. Only problem with buying from Newegg is that they take at least a week to RMA, so that's already 7-10 days that's gone from your 30-day money back guarantee. Unless Newegg has this on sale + free shipping, do yourself a favor and drive to your nearest game retailer and buy from them. If there's anything wrong, at least you can get it taken care of within a weekend.
Good but not great
- Pros: It's fun as usual and $30 less than retail.
- Cons: The drums aren't as fun as I thought. The cymbals are a bit on the flimsy side.
- Other Thoughts: I'm fairly certain that I got a refurbished/returned set. The box was re-taped and when I opened it up, the box containing the drums had writing on it...appeared like scribble. I am debating on whether or not to return this and just get the guitar + game.

Awesome Game
- Pros: This game is fun, challenging, addictive, and a great multiplayer game. I've wanted to try Guitar Hero for a very long time, but I didn't have a game system. When we finally bought our Wii, this was our third game for the system. It's a ton of fun.
- Cons: The drum controller was faulty right off the bat. This is a known issue and Activision replaced it for free. However, this meant sending part of the unit back and waiting for the replacement. And when we got the new set, it was broken when my son pulled on a wire and it came apart. I fixed that myself.
- Other Thoughts: The game gets 5 eggs, the drum kit gets 2 for being faulty. My game disc is scratched so I have to get that replaced now.
Drums not so great
- Pros: Game is very fun hours of entertainment
- Cons: Drum set is cheap, I had the green drum fail after 1 month. I was able to take the drum apart and resolder the wire to the sensor and recover that drum. Now after 2 more months the yellow cymbal quit working. My wife is the only one that uses the drums and does not hit them very hard. Just poorly made
- Other Thoughts: I'll be trying rock band 2 next there equipment(drums) looked to be higher quality. I guess we'll find out
