RE4 wii edition
- Pros: Wii control scheme is far more accurate and responsive than GCN controls. Aiming is easy and very effective. Reloading feels good and using the knife with the wii remote is incredibly fun. The game is actually a bit easier with the wii remote since you can target heads, knees, etc very easily. The controls also make the game very immersive. you can control certain aspects of the cut scenes (i.e., running by waving the remote, shaking the remote to knock enemies off, etc.) Also, the remote is used in game to accomplish certain tasks. You crank the remote to raise platforms, etc.
Let's not forget about PRICE at only 30 bucks you can't go wrong.
- Cons: you can only turn with the analog sticks. That is, the pointer does not shift your perspective when you move it to the edge of the screen. Also, using the control pad on the wii remote to move the camera kind of sucks.
- Other Thoughts: Pros far outweigh the cons. This game is unbeleivably fun. It is probably the best Wii title out now and it is also one of the cheapest. buy it now and get to slashing and pointing and waving and cranking, etc!
Excellent Wii Title
- Pros: Let me preface this review by saying that i have not played any other version of this game (it's also available for GameCube and Playstation2). This was the second game I bought for my Wii, after Zelda, and I found it to be incredibly immersive and excellent. The controls were easy to understand and quickly became intuitive, and I found the "about-face" quick turnaround to be completely invaluable. Precision targeting with the Wiimote was an important part of the game and provided a lot of satisfaction with successful hits. I spent probably more time in the shooting gallery minigame than I should have.
- Cons: No multiplayer co-op, some movement constraints. You can't sidestep, so when you're getting cornered your best option is often to charge straight through the crowd of zombies, then spin around and engage them while they get turned around.
- Other Thoughts: I can't compare this with its other versions, but for me, this game and Mario Galaxy were the Wii's killer apps. If you have a job or a life, this game is not for you unless you have excellent willpower and time management skills.

Pleasently Surprised
- Pros: The game is a LOT bigger than I had anticipated. The visual effects even on the Wii were impressive and entertaining. They game plays like reading a good book.. its just hard to put it down. I found myself playing till 2am.. I had no idea it was that late.. The plot line, the story.. is excellent.. fun fun 1st person game
- Cons: I actually bought it a couple a months ago. I popped it into the wii, played for a bit and got frustrated that I didnt quickly get a hang of the controls. But I guess that is like most games. When I finally played until I got the hang of it.. I started loving it. I actually played most of it with the Wii gamepad. It recommends the nunchuck, but I figured out the game controller easier. I switched back to the nunchuck later.
- Other Thoughts: $19 for gong on adventure like this?? the game more than paid for itself. Give it a little time and you will get sucked in. I throughly enjoyed my time playing it.
RE4
- Pros: WII Mote makes for innovative controls and shooting, having to aim at the screen makes the game more immersive and you feel like you're right in the action. Having owned RE4 for the ps2 i can say that this is a fun and vast improvement and i wish they had made this an exclusive. The graphics are the same if not a tiny bit lower than the playstation 2, but i hardly notice the difference. Everything else is the same as the playstation 2 version.
- Cons: The game is HARD. I havent been able to tell yet whether it is because of the Wii mote use or they upgraded the AI, but i havent had a challenge from a game like this in a long long time. I expect it will be even longer than the ps2 version which took rougly 10-13hours to FC. I also have to contemplate the effectiveness of using the Wii mote during action scenes, such as shaking the remote left and right. It does not always seem to pick it the shaking of the remote, but this may be a line of sight issue between the sensor bar and the remote.
- Other Thoughts: It would have been nice if they had included some sort of seperate content, something to make the game a little more fresh. And Idk why people are complaining about button controls, you can always change what does what in the options menu so quit complaining. The layout is perfectly fine with me and makes the game more challenging, which is what i look for in a game.
- Pros: -Utilizes the Wiimote for point-and-shooting.
-May not be scary (it was for my kid brother at age 11), but does a decent job of setting moods even without the support of music.
-Almost feels like an arcade game.
- Cons: -2 years after the initial releases instead of revolutionizing the controls it feels as if they simply swapped out an analog stick for the Wiimote's point-and-click precision. It's incredibly irksome playing a FPS in which in order to shoot you must first hold a button to *stand still*, use one control to aim with your arms/upper torso and another to move/bend your back/neck to rotate your range of view. The standing still part neither makes any sense to me nor is it enjoyable.
-Looks absolutely abysmal on a 40" 1080p HDTV even with composite cables.
- Other Thoughts: I haven't played any other version of RE4. I've seen reviews, discussions, etc. and can't figure out why everyone makes the world out of this game. It's good, but I don't see why anyone would label it as the best.
