With a two decade career, the Madden NFL series has lasted longer than the careers of most players but it still scores a touchdown when it comes to putting you on the gridiron. The new "Madden IQ" system adapts to your skill level based on your performance in the Virtual Trainer drills and adjusts the game's difficulty. The EA Sports Backtrack replay feature analyzes the plays in a TV-style telestrator format, helping you improve your game. If you blow a crucial play, use the Rewind feature to do it over. Two players with differing skill levels can compete on an even playing field with handicapping.
Completely revamped graphics are highlighted by improved stadium models and details including realistic weather effects that'll see the turf turned to mud during scrimmages in the rain –which will affect your players' performance. Television-style openings, booth commentators and HD quality video, along with improved player models that will have you believing this is Monday Night Football. Exclusive to the Wii is the 5 on 5 mode with its arcade-style football play. The Wii Remote lets you create plays on the fly and direct receivers, deliver bigger hits and choose your style of celebration after a sack or scoring a TD.
For the first time, online league play is available with up to 32 players taking part in a NFL season including an NFL draft and making trades among their teams. Capture your triumphant moments and create your own highlight reel to share on EA Sports World.

Much Improved Over 08
- Pros: The game play is very smooth, very reminiscent of the way older, awesome versions played. The graphics on the actual play are much, much better than 08 (this seems to come at the expense of the crowds but, I could care less about that). The Mii is incorporated highly into it, which is cool for me - I don't really care about seeing John Madden. Also, the online play works well.
- Cons: Honestly, I don't know at this point. Maybe the crowds but, it is a Wii game so I understand what to expect.
- Other Thoughts: This is the best looking EA sports game on the Wii that I have seen to date. Also, I love the game play - it is very smooth. I wasn't going to get this but, decided since it is the 20th anniversary and I've played all previous versions that I might as well. I am glad that I did, it's much improved over 08.
Really?
- Pros: Wii Remote Interactivity. You can move the Wii remote to make the players do stuff
- Cons: *(1.Graphics)*- Wii or not the cost of the game should equally represent the quality, and this is not worth 50 bucks
*(2.Unclear descriptions of Wii remote use)* It gives you brief descriptions of what to do, some of them work and some dont, for me at least!
*(3. No Play Clock) - Seriously? this is Football we are talking about here and there's no game clock? I understand duming the games down for people who have no idea whats going on but its not even an option to turn on or off, not even in Pro, All-Pro, or All-Madden modes. Thats was really dumb.
- Other Thoughts: It's fun, but if I had to do it again I wouldn't spend the 50 bucks. sell the Wii and use that 50 bucks to a get a PS3 if you want a good looking version of this game.
I understand the Wii cannot compete with PS3 and 360 but the price of the game should represent the quality of game and this is not as good for Wii as it is for PS3 and 360. Madden 05 for PS2 in my opinion has better graphics than this game on this system, for reference.

Not Quite What I Thought, But Still Decent
- Pros: It's a Wii game, so the physical interaction is big. This is my first experience with Madden for the Wii, and I was not quite sure what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised by the depth of the game, it's not just the 5-on-5 you see in the commercials.
- Cons: It's Wii, not PS3, so it gets a little bit of a pass on the graphics. However, it feels like they took Madden for PS2 and added the "Wii functionality". They need to get rid of Al and John like they did for the Next-Gen versions of the game.
- Other Thoughts: All-in-all, I think this is a great game with the spirit of what the Wii is about in mind. Hey, maybe I can use this to finally teach the game of football to my wife! :)
