It's got a fresh new look.
- Pros: If you're fan of the game and/or you liked the Monopoly game for the original NES, this one's worth picking up. Overall, the menus are easy to navigate and I like the fact that you can set house rules for a variety of stuff. Making deals with the A.I. and other players is also very simple. The Wii mote isn't used very much when it comes to it's movement features... mainly for shaking the dice and pointing at things in the menus. Then again, that 95% of the game right there. I havent tried the mini games yet, but plan to soon.
- Cons: The Monopoly guy can't ever seem to shut up. He's got some input on every move you make and it get a little old after awhile.
The A.I. can be beat every time with one basic strategy, so it can get boring quick. So it's best if you have some friends to play with.
- Other Thoughts: I figured out a basic strategy for betting the A.I. after the first game. You just have to stop them from forming a monopoly on all the colored properties. If you can manage to get one property of each color, you've basically won. At that point, just keep making laps around the board, build up your money and make cash offers to the other players ever so often for their property. Once you have a monopoly on property, start building house and hotels and you'll quickly wipe out the A.I. Also, don't bother with trying to get all the utilities or rail roads, but if you land on them, buy them anyway. They're worthless in the long run, but they make great bargaining chips. If the A.I. want's to trade a colored property for one of them, ALWAYS make the trade. Thinking “long term” is the name of the game.
