Castlevania: Judgement

ESRB Rating
T - Teen

In Castlevania Judgment, players can choose sides in an epic battle of good versus evil using iconic Castlevania characters designed by famed manga artist Takeshi Obata. Using the motion-sensing controls of the Nunchuk and Wii Remote, players can slash, stab and whip their way across a variety of stages and environmental elements with various surrounding objects as weapons. Select characters can also set traps and make use of monsters on the field to achieve victory in a clash of epic proportions. As an added bonus, players are also able to compete head-to-head using the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection and connect with Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia on the Nintendo DS to unlock bonus gameplay content.

3 out of 5 eggsMediocre Fighting Game

Pros: Simple button configuration and combos. Character selection spanning generations of Catlevania. Decent graphics for Wii. 3D stage environments with out of ring areas. Free walk before round starts.

Cons: Must manually face character before attack registers in the correct direction. Simplistic controls with only limited moves. Bad camera angles which limit view of opponents or self. Story is super weak. Beginning/Finishing animations limited and repetitive.

Other Thoughts: Seems like a "Soul Caliber" or "Tekken" style fighting game without the refinement. Could use some more localized content. Might be a good game for die-hard Castlevania enthusiasts.

4 out of 5 eggsFun for fans

Pros: - Very stylish with good character design, fun to see what they've done with classic characters.

- Pretty good graphics for Wii; the Wiimote and nunchuck work rather well, better than the gamecube controller certainly.

- Fun unlockables to keep you playing, including little items you can equip on your character's costume.

Cons: - There are certainly better fighting games out there.

- Very cheap final boss.

Other Thoughts: Basically if you're not a Castlevania fan like me, minus one star from my review.
