Manhunt 2

ESRB Rating
M - Mature

An experiment at a secret research facility has gone catastrophically wrong. Daniel Lamb and Leo Kasper are the only surviving subjects. The Pickman Project will stop at nothing to hunt them down and stop the truth from getting out.

Demented screams echo around the dank asylum that has caged you for the last six years. You open your eyes. A white-coated body slumps to the floor through your shaking hands. A bloody syringe slips from your arm. Waves of confusion and paranoia crash over you. You have no idea who you are or how you got here.

The door to your cell is open. One choice. One chance. They took your life. Time to take it back.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Sequel Ruined by Censorship

Pros: Having enjoyed the original Manhunt on XBOX very much, I decided to purchase this game when it came on deep discount. Simulating the knife stabs and limb-removals with the Wiimote is very fun, and the critics are right, this game is indeed a murder-simulator. Game play is good, graphics on par with the original, music, story, sound effects all excellent. There's basically nothing dislike except....

Cons: The Censorship. Thanks to some ramped up motion blur and color distortion settings, you cannot see the gruesome decapitations, maimings, and other general mayhem that were the bread and butter of this game series. It ALMOST ruins the game.

Other Thoughts: If I go to the store to purchase a murder-simulating game, it had better have murder-simulation scenes in it. This "protect-the-children" mentality has ruined a great game franchise, all over misguided zeal. I thought we had the ESRB to stop children from buying the game. If no children could by it, why do we need to censor it?

4 out of 5 eggsGOREiffic

Pros: This game is an excellent sequel to the first Manhunt, albeit toned down some, and great for all you adult gamers out there with a Wii who are frustrated with children's games dominating the console titles. Just like the first game, the stealth aspect makes great use of your surrounding environment, including new environmental executions, and the graphics are very good for a Wii title. It also uses the capabilities of the Wii control system to boost the level of involvement in the game by requiring correct timing and movements during executions in order to complete them correctly as opposed to just holding down a button long enough like the first game.

Cons: The execution scenes which are unedited in the first game are blurred out in the sequel, but you can still make out the gist of what's happening. It's still a bit disappointing though considering they leave in the extremely vulgar dialog of characters.

Other Thoughts: I hope they release an unedited version. Or, better yet, release a patch for download that will remove the blurring effect during executions.

5 out of 5 eggsUltraviolent classic

Pros: Very good game focusing on some very violent death scenes. High entertainment value. If you liked the first Manhunt, the Postal series or Carmageddon, this game is for you. Playing it on the Wii is awesome for the physical move interaction.

Cons: It's not on PC. They blurred the death scenes to get the ratings down to M

Other Thoughts: I wish they would have an unrated version of this game.
