3 out of 5 eggsHype

Pros: It's GTA! Great story with decent gameplay, amazing use of the touch screen at first, yet it gets kind of tedious. World is huge, and it's a pretty easy game. Characters have great personalities, and controls are seamless.

Cons: Gta games are great, but somewhere along the way for me, they lost some substance. The humor became funny, to acceptable, to predictable. The graphics are sub-par, I don't like the cel-shaded like graphics. Getting money comes down to getting deals with dealers, especially on coke. Driving around gets boring, rewiring cars gets annoying, and getting away from the cops can take forever.
Those are the main things I find myself doing every time I play.

Other Thoughts: The best thing about this game hands down is the story. Yet, it was not enough to hold my attention for long, I ended up buying another game, and I've only beaten 25% of the game. It got kinda of cyclical, I found myself doing the same thing over and over.. and over... I will finish it in time, but It definitely does not deserve the score it got IN MY OPINION.

5 out of 5 eggsBest DS game

Pros: It's Grand Theft Auto! And you happen to have a DS?

Good mix of GTA gameplay and DS features.

Many things to do. There are the main story missions, side missions, odd jobs and of course, you can explore and rampage at your leisure.

Best graphics I've seen on a DS game.

Fun and addictive gameplay. If you liked the first two GTA games you would most likely have fun with this one too. Heck, if you liked any GTA game you should like this one too.

You can order weapons to be delivered to your safehouse and you can use taxis if you don't feel like cruising yourself.

Makes use of the touch screen. It doesn't feel too pointless and gimmicky either. In fact, I think it's fun.

There is multiplayer, but I have yet to try it.

Cons: Too easy to amass a fortune. Makes cash rewards seem rather pointless before long. This is especially true as there is not much to do with the money. Then again, this is true of all GTA games.

There is noticeable slowdown at times. I am playing it on a DS lite. I suppose if you play it on a DSi it would perform better.

On foot combat takes some getting used to. I still have difficulty targeting specific cars/people.

As someone else mentioned, there is a lack of music and so what is there gets old before long.

Doesn't have a simple scoring system like in the first GTA games. This is a personal con, as I was hoping there would be a simple online high score list. I loved competing with friends for high score in the earlier GTA games. Now it's pretty much just a long list of random statistics. There are however, some forms of 'achievement' I guess. You can earn medals and awards and try to achieve better time on missions. They aren't very satisfying to me though.

Other Thoughts: Be sure to check the 'System Options' in the game! There are some features that may make it more pleasant. Such as adding health or gps to the top screen. Otherwise you will be looking up and down very often ;)

Easily the best DS game. And that's coming from a fan of the Advance Wars games, Pokemon, and Zelda. I hate how so many DS games are either little puzzle games that make good use of the touch screen, or good, big games that barely make any use of the touch screen. GTA Chinatown wars is not a mere puzzle game and it is not a game that relegates the touch screen to just menu navigation.

Honestly, if you can play an 'M' rated game and you have a DS, there is no reason not to have this game.

5 out of 5 eggsSo far, the only DS game worth buying

Pros: -Very well-executed top-down view makes driving at high speed more manageable than you might think

-Variety of side-missions and a wealth of things to break up the monotony of doing nothing but missions

-Creative and fun missions that are typical of the GTA series (far better than the ones in GTAIV)

-Drug dealing is a blast, and can be quite addictive

-Funny and well-written cutscenes flesh out characters.

Cons: -Controls for on-foot shootouts can be irritating

-"Radio station" music can get repetitive

-Parking a vehicle near the entrance to a safehouse can make it so that you can't get in. Insanely frustrating when you have a wanted level.

Other Thoughts: Far, far better than GTAIV. If you like Vice City (or San Andreas), you'll love this game.

Try out the first two GTAs to see if you like the top-down view, though. They are free to download at Rockstar's website!

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Game

Pros: The graphics for this game considering its on the ds is great, makes great use of the touchscreen unlike most other games.

Cons: I mean, its not a game that will have you on the couch for 6 hours straight, if it were a pc game it would only get a 4 (you know, for story line and things like that) but for a ds game its a 5.
