Nintendo Wii

Personalized to You: First, you take a fitness test so the game knows your current fitness level. Then, you tell the game what you're trying to achieve (slimming your stomach, strengthening your arms, etc.). Based on that, the game designs a program specifically for you based on your fitness level, goals and schedule.

Constant Guidance to Ensure You're Doing the Exercises Correctly: The camera projects your image onto your TV next to your in-game workout buddy, Jenny McCarthy. Jenny is in the game, motivating you and coaching you to success. The camera tracks your movements so Jenny can tell you what you're doing right and correct any mistakes. That way you know you're not wasting time.

Exercise Controller-Free: The camera sees you, so it works without requiring any additional hardware (such as Wii Remotes, Nunchucks, and balance boards), leaving your hands free to focus on the exercises.

Fun and Motivational: Jenny McCarthy is your workout buddy - always by your side, entertaining and inspiring you. As you exercise, the game regularly displays how many calories you're burning and your accuracy percentage so you can always strive to beat your high score!

More Exercises Than Any Other Game: More than 400 exercises ensures that your routine is working to meet your goals Plus, you'll never do the same workout twice.

Compatible With Your Own Fitness Equipment: The game works without requiring any extra equipment, but if you have free weights, a balance ball, a step bench and/or a heart rate monitor, Jenny will include them in your personalized routine.

Challenge Yourself: Test your fitness level with the physical challenge, a test designed as a check-in for you to see how much your fitness level has improved. Take it any time!

Play in English, Spanish or French.

2 out of 5 eggsIf you can't dance, forget about it!

Pros: Great workout - if you can last very long with the girl's annoying "watch your arms" and "follow me" when you are. Who is she, anyway? Seriously - I have no idea. O_O

Cons: If you can't dance and don't like disco, forget this one. The music is annoying, the "get a move on" when you are, and the dance moves are enough to turn a person off of exercising completely! Not to mention seeing yourself on screen - in my case...."eeewww!"

Other Thoughts: If I wanted a dance game I would have gone with "dance dance revolution" or "just dance". The Yoga from Wii Fit is much better than this.

1 out of 5 eggsWII - Your Shape w/Camera

Pros: NONE

Cons: Included USB camera did not work.

Other Thoughts: Got on sale from NewEgg for $X with free shipping. To return it for replacement would have cost as much as the original. Not worth it!

2 out of 5 eggsNot worth buying, not even to tinker with

Pros: Relatively inexpensive.
Includes Camera, which does have a built in microphone.
With proper drivers, camera can be used as a webcam.

Cons: The exercises aren't great and you can't skip certain exercises you don't or can't do.
Certainly not for men.
Camera does a poor job at capturing many motions.
Requires Firmware 4.3, or extra cIOS hacks.
Only one other game uses the webcam.
Finding and setting up the drivers on a PC is a hassle.
Completely unnecessary.

Other Thoughts: I purchased this for only $10 so it wasn't a big loss and I do get a webcam out of it. The first problem I had was trying to install this on my homebrew-enabled Wii. It turns out the camera a very specific IOS to function and after hours of digging through the internet I finally found what I needed to do. Even with the correct cIOS it still has problems, but atleast now it is playable. The second problem was looking for the drivers to use this on a PC. Ubisoft and the manufacturer, Hercules, don't put them on their website, but I was able to find what appears to be homebrew software and driver that lets me use them on my PC. As a webcam it's pretty nice, wide angle and clear picture.
The game is unnecessary because there are so many better alternatives already established on the Wii such as WiiFit, Jillian's Ultimatum, and EA Active. It's also ridiculous that a motion-gaming console would ever need another motion-gaming peripheral, especially one so poorly put together as this.

4 out of 5 eggsNot bad, could be better

Pros: The web cam is nice because it allows the system to see you work. The system/gal rates how well you appear to match her arms and leg movements. Assuming you're not bothered when she scolds you for not LOOKING like you're doing it right, then you'll get your work out.

My wife loves it.

In theory, the semi-randomized work-out varies based on how well you are keeping up.

Cons: The web cam only works well if you wear contrasting colors and have a plain background (no dining room table). Otherwise the accuracy of the image processing is reduced.

You can't disable complex aerobic moves you HATE. For example there are some complex "3 or 4 step dances, left then right, forward and back, hands like this then that" which only work if you can mentally handle dancing.

In contrast, I prefer the simple 1-2 1-2 style exercise and there is NO setting which allows me to say "I'm mentally hindered - just give me simple jumping jacks etc".

You need at least 6 to 8 feet of width to handle the fancy 'dance' steps.

You have to manually enter your weight every time. A Wii Balance Board interface to weigh oneself would make sense.

Other Thoughts: As with most aerobics, if you are a true coach-potato you'll find this too intimidating.

Start with something easier like Wii Fit, then if you can get yourself of the couch 3 or 4 times a week for a month, invest in one of these.

As I said, my wife loves it. I would too if I could turn off the stupid "dance routines" which make me feel stupid because I can't think so fast on my feet!
