If it got ME off the couch...
- Pros: Wii fit is the first exercise "device or gimmick" that has actually got me off the couch on a regular basis, and that I've stuck with over the past 20 years. My daughter and I are both overweight, and we've both found the Wii Fit to be engaging, fun, and varied enough to keep our interest. There is something for everyone, (with the exception below) and I actually look forward to waking up to exercise! Plus, I bowl twice a month and since regularly using the Wii fit, I'm able to stay focused on my bowling without tiring out half way through the night--a definite plus! Finally, mine is running on rechargeable batteries
- Cons: I'd have to say the Wii Fit is NOT for advanced exercisers who are looking for weight bearing exercises or someone who is looking for the gym's social atmosphere. Also, I think the Wii Fit places a very bizarre emphasis on balance...I mean, yes, I don't want to fall over while doing a pose, but the emphasis on keeping balance is really too much. Also, what is with that childlike, high pitched voice inviting me to step on the board and telling me that it's "measuring, measuring...all done". All in all, nothing is going to make a long-term effect on one's weight without a change in diet, but I definitely feel more "fit" after 2 months using the Wii Fit.
- Other Thoughts: I'm overall very pleased!
A Love / Hate Purchase
- Pros: Wii fit is a lot of fun, and it's not a bad way to burn a few calories. The balance board is an interesting piece of tech that I hope to see other games start using.
- Cons: It's a frackin bundle - we ski and a mat for the wii fit board? Not worth the extra money. I considered it the "I own wii fit this year" tax. If you can find it in non bundle form anywhere, get it that way - but be warned, don't keep high hopes of finding it in non bundle form before the new year.
- Other Thoughts: I'm a little surprised to see newegg participating in the lowdown dirty practice of bundling
