Why use a wired controller?
- Pros: Owned 3 months so far with heavy use and i'm still on my first battery set.
- Cons: I'm not picky enough to find one, it just works.
A Must Have For PS2
- Pros: Play from your own comfort distance, flawless conectivity
- Cons: ?
- Other Thoughts: I think I'd like another
Bought for the dpad, of course.
- Pros: The usual pros. Excellent build quality, reasonably good rumble quality, great dpad for fighting games compared to stock PS2 dual shock (the reason this was purchased), and long battery life.
- Cons: The usual cons. Buttons still aren't analog so games like MGS3 are unplayable, but that doesn't matter much because any game that primarily requires analog sucks on this controller anyway due to the poor precision of the analogs and the badly designed back button angles. The shape of this controller is designed with 1 hand size in mind, and it hurts to use for everyone else. It's not like the stock PS2 controller that can be held many different ways for analog use and be comfortable, this one can only be held one way. It's also too heavy, the buttons tend to take more work per press than stock dual shock, and they have an annoying "click" noise (and tactile feel) when pressed.
- Other Thoughts: This is my second one of these (and my 5th Logitech dual-shock type controller in general) and I knew what I was getting into when I bought it, but it's still somewhat disappointing to be reminded of the various pros and cons, because while they remain the same as they always have, they remain the same as they always have. The same pros, the same cons, never changing anything significant. The last reasonable improvement we saw to any logitech handheld controller was fixing the dpad on the original dual shock PC. Since then, nothing. That's both good, and bad. It sucks to have to pay this much money simply to get a controller that gives reasonable performance in fighting games like VF4/SFII/DOA2/etc, but at least we have an option. Pity the stock PS2 controller dpad design wasn't as good as the rest of it, huh?
