Swords, Dungeons, Sorcery, and Dragons... Enjoy the Ultimate Gamemaster-Driven Fantasy on Your PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita!

"Dragon's Crown" is an action fantasy RPG in the vein of "Princess Crown" and "Odin Sphere", married with gamemaster-style storytelling as seen in "Etrian Odyssey." With a strong focus on high-fantasy, a new era of adventure now begins.

"The paths that lead people to this land are manifold and varied, but they share a single goal. Now you have journeyed here to brave the dangerous, monster-ridden dungeons. Daring adventurers from far and wide have come to face the labyrinths on the outskirts of town, and you are joining their ranks. You must first gather a strong party. No adventurer will be able to overcome these trails alone. Let us begin your journey... I wish you good luck."

5 out of 5 eggsclassic side scrolling level up fun

Pros: Great control and great story. Visuals are stunning and the environments are very well done. Voice acting pretty good too! Overall a very fun game with level ups and the distribution of points and upgrades need to be chosen wisely.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Kept my eye on getting this all summer and finally jumped when the publisher decided to drop the price around the holiday.

3 out of 5 eggsGet this one on the Vita

Pros: Nice to see modern take on the old-school 2d side-scrolling action fighting game. It feels very smooth and fluid, and plays well. There's some depth to character customization via items and/or abilities purchasable through skill points.

Cons: Can feel repetitive to have to replay maps over and over for either loot or to complete "quests."

The game feels like it was built for a touch screen, in the ps3 version you have to manipulate a small hand with one of the control sticks to "click" objects. It's a better experience on the Vita.

Lack of crossplay is very confusing on this title. As it is literally the exact same game on the Vita and you can even share save files between both versions. Having to buy it twice makes little sense for the consumer.

Other Thoughts: On an old school 2d action fighting game controlling the up/down/left/right combos feels a lot more natural on a dpad rather than the analog stick. I switched up the controls to allow for that option.

5 out of 5 eggsA beautifully crafted side-scrolling beat-em-up that every PS3 owner should have in their game library

Pros: + Absolutely GORGEOUS hand-drawn art style! High-res character sprites and backgrounds!

+ Up to 4-Player Co-Op play (online or couch co-op)

+ Developed by Vanillaware, Published by Atlus (one of the true gamer's last allies in the multi-billion dollar "business" side of video games)

+ Lengthy campaign, with high replayability due to multiple character classes

+ Easy to pick up, hard to put down

Cons: - When the action gets frantic, with a lot of enemies and characters on screen at once, it can be a little difficult to keep track of the character you are controlling.

- Online co-op play doesn't unlock until a few hours into the game.

- No native voice chat during online play (easily fixed by using Skype/Google Hangouts/Ventrilio/TeamSpeak/whatever on your PC/tablet/phone/magic flying skateboard)

Other Thoughts: If you have a PS3, this game is a must-have! If you grew up in the 1980's or early-mid 1990's and played NES/SNES/Genesis when you were a kid then you will be right at home playing Dragon's Crown. Think of it like Streets of Rage or Final Fight times 1000 (that is a gross over-simplification of Dragon's Crown, but you get the idea).

4 out of 5 eggsScrumpoly game of the ultimatum.

Pros: Gorgeous art (though a bit of an acquired taste, admittedly), fantastic gameplay, and ease of accessibility make this 4 player co-op beat-em up a highly enjoyable experience that anyone can experience on the fly.

Very scrump game, and if you are a PS3 owner you are doing yourself a disservice if you do not buy this right this secondness.

Cons: The online co-op multiplayer sometimes desynchs, potentially losing progress. I have heard rumors in the grapevine that a patch will be forthcoming to fix this, however. There is also some slight lag, at times, but I attribute that to my connection more than anything.

It will also make you hate your friends.

Other Thoughts: I didn't receive the preorder artbook, even though I was lead to believe that Newegg was included in the participating retailers.

Feels bad man. Feels real bad.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Game!

Pros: "Controls are slightly foreign but very easy to get used to. The artwork styled graphics are extremely pleasing as well as the overall retro feel. If you like side scrolling beat em ups with stunning visuals, this is the game for you. Online features are just the cherry on top."

Cons: -I pre-ordered with New Egg so while my friends who bought in store or pre-ordered with Amäzon are already playing, here I am still waiting to play a game that came out on 8/6.

Other Thoughts: Hopefully I'll get the game at least sometime this week but the longer it takes, the more I fall behind my friends who already have it.
