Take part in the liberation of France during WW2 at the forefront of the Allied breakout from Normandy. Play through the realistically rendered battlefields as an American, British, Canadian or Polish soldier in four single-player story modes. Utilize the authentically modeled weapons of your nation in addition to the tanks and vehicles of that military. Semi-destructible scenery and battlefield sounds will have you ducking for cover behind rubble and vehicles as the enemy gets your range.

The control system used in Call of Duty 2 returns and you can lay down covering fire or bring your rifle up to use the sights to make a precision shot. The realism extends to the smoke grenades which can be used to cover your advance as well as the ability to pick up enemy grenades and throw them back. "Cook" your own fragmentation grenade to keep the enemy from returning them.

Five team-based modes allow online multi-player action that is the true heart of Call of Duty 3. Up to 24 players can fight on each side. Choose a class of soldier to play – each type has certain benefits – and then choose your team and battle it out as an American or German soldier. Engage in hand-to-hand close-quarters combat where you'll need to shake your Sixaxis controller to defeat your foe or you can simply smash him with the butt of your weapon. Take full control of tanks and jeeps to crush your enemies under your treads or mow them down with the vehicle-mounted weapons.

Features

Features
The Power of Next-Gen – Built from the ground-up for next-gen consoles, Call of Duty 3 brings the battle to life with advanced graphics, a new physics engine, a procedural environment and detailed ensemble animations that deliver the most cinematic war experience ever.

Battle Actions – An all-new close-quarters battle mechanic allows players to fight hand-to-hand, improvise explosive devices, disarm traps and execute a host of other battlefield situations that require cunning and rapid reflexes to survive.

Branching Mission Paths – Next-generation level design provides multiple attack routes that let players decide how to confront the enemy – flank an opponent, or hit him head-on. Each unique mission path requires special tactics, from sniping and demolition to all-out head-on clashes.

Nowhere to Hide – Environmental physics allow players to destroy enemy soft cover hideouts, forcing foes out in the open. But be wary, opponents can eliminate your protective cover as well.

Team-based Multiplayer with Vehicles – Combined arms and team-based combat provides unprecedented depth and variety by allowing up to 24-players to battle it out online with the option of single or split-screen Internet play. Gamers have the choice to play as infantry or commandeer multiple-occupancy vehicles, including tanks, jeeps, and motorcycles with side-cars, leading to unique mobile combat roles for all-out, multiplayer mayhem. Call of Duty 3 also offers soldier classes, each with class specific abilities, and a ranking system for truly diversified squad combat.

3 out of 5 eggso.k. game

Pros: The concept and storyline were good.I mean fighting in France after the St. Lo breakout was original.Feel for the weapons was nice. Missions seemed carefully thought out. They were not really short.

Cons: They added some touches from Big Red one in the game that were ok. The button scheme seemed a little slow and off.The guys ages in the game are a little old.Like one guy was a liutenant and his age was 38 or something like that.A lot of the characters were old goats. Most guys in WW2 were between the ages of 18 and 27 unless you were top brass or you were fundamentally sound for tactics of the battlefield, then age did not matter.

Other Thoughts: I consider myself to be a die hard C.O.D. fan and this was almost as bad as The Big Red One. Controls were the same, grenade toss was the same, just to mention a few. I know most die hards would have rather seen this on multi platforms like the p.c..I just felt let down that this title was only console bound.

4 out of 5 eggs.....360 better.....

Pros: Looks good, fun. good game. WWII shooter, will help you with your history while kapping Nazis.

Cons: 360 VERSION IS BETTER. Same menus, same levels but head to head (and in very subtle ways) the game just plays better on the 360. Lack of rumble noticeable in this game.

Other Thoughts: PS3 will have games that truly take advantage of its potential, but this really seemed to be a 360 game adapted for PS3. Good game worth trying out.

2 out of 5 eggsMutliplayer LACKS!

Pros: This is a fun way to blow some time away.

Cons: 1) There is no split screen multiplayer available.

2) No multiplayer chat support. This makes playing as a team almost impossible. There is NO WAY to communicate with your teammates. Activision knows this and isn't doing anything such as a patch to update this. When talking with them on the phone about this issue they were very rude.

3) The game is glitch. It has paused and frozen on me several time in single and multi player.

4) Poor game programming. Simple things such as running can be inhibited by a small rock. Rather than programming it like most games where you would continue to run over it, you get stuck, look down and realize that your stuck on a 6" rock. They should have held this one back and worked out some of the flaws before they released this half ready product to the public.

Other Thoughts: Considering the limited line-up for the PS3, this game is ok. Once the game developers learn to harness the power of the Cell processor I think that we will see some better products. I don’t recommend that you give Activision your money; wait till the new Brothers in Arms comes out in a few months if you want a WWII game.

4 out of 5 eggsA decent Game

Pros: Call of Duty 3 is a very fun game. Single Player campaign is great. I especially enjoy the intuitive sixaxis features. Single player is only one part. The best part, IMO is the online play. There are so many different games to choose from such as: Deathmatch (FFA), Team Deathmatch, Capture the flag, War, etc. Online connections might have a few glitches to get into a game, but once in, It's great.

Cons: Well, it seems as though I've have seen this before. Oh yeah, Call of Duty 1+2. No Multiplayer with someone on the same playstation 3. Minor Multiplayer bugs.

Other Thoughts: This game is definately a good alternative First Person shooter from resistance. IMO, I enjoyed this one more.

3 out of 5 eggsAverage war game

Pros: really really great graphics, the new motion control sensing really does make the game more fun and overal enjoyable.

Cons: Ive played call of duty 1 and 2. Call of Duty 3 just doesnt stand out at all. It's call of duty 1 & 2 all over again which is really upsetting. I wish activision would have introduced more then just motion control for this game because with a $60 price tag, veterans wont enjoy it IMHO. It would have been nice if we could peek over walls or around corners and shoot at the badguys instead of the old fashioned style that is used where you have to reveal yourself entirly. I figure since my squadmates can peek around corners and shoot, why cant I (3 COD games later i still cant *cough*). Also, the game has no replayability, and everytime you continue the game where you left off you have to watch the same intro video everytime with no options to skip it, and sometimes the videos go on for a long time. Not only that, but the only form of multiplayer is online.

Other Thoughts: If this is the first time you have played call of duty then you would definitly enjoy it and i recomend buying it, but for the call of duty veterans, there's nothing new here except for a little bit of motion control.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Game!!!

Pros: Great Game. Love the way they made use of the SixAxis mmotion sensing technology in the controller. The gameplay is awesome, haven't played online yet.

Cons: None so far. Though it would be cool if they made it to where you could play 2 players through the whole campaign like you can do on Resistance: Fall Of Man.
