Guitar Hero, the game that started it all - and the third time is a charmer. Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock retains the same game play people have come to know and love. Play solo or with another player in either cooperative or battle mode. Work your way up to "Rock Legend" in career mode. Play against the real rock guitarists like Slash and Tom Morello in boss battles. More than 70 songs – 54 of them master tracks – are ready to challenge you as well. Play Santana's "Black Magic Woman," Pearl Jam's "Even Flow" or Tenacious D's "The Metal."

Successfully complete songs by hitting the right fret buttons when the color scrolls on-screen to earn in-game cash. This can be used to unlock new guitars, finishes, bonus songs, videos and characters including "Metalhead" and "Elroy Budvis." Multiple levels of difficulty are available so you can ease your way onto the highway to stardom.

New to Guitar Hero is the wireless guitar controller modeled after the Kramer Striker. Faithfully designed after the original, it feels just like the real thing. It features the five color-coded frets on the neck along with a durable, responsive strum bar, whammy bar, a tilt sensor and the ability to rock out from up to 30 feet away.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Game

Pros: The wireless guitar worked better than I thought it would. I haven't had any issues with the guitar not recognizing that it is raised.

Cons: GH3 is considerably harder than GH2. I have played GH2 at a friends house and bought this one for the guitar and so the girlfriend could try it out. Because it's that much harder, it's got a greater learning curve for beginners.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Game and Guitar Controller!

Pros: I was wary in buying this game for my kid because of so many reports of guitar and / or wireless problems. Eventually, I decided it would be worth the try, and oh was it!! The the wireless Kramer had no wireless connectivity problems, nor did the guitar have any button / neck issues. Given that I bought the game a few months after its release, I am under the impression that some earlier problems have been resolved (also supported by some of my research on the web) in the later generation manufacturing. We have had the game for 1 month now with no problems. The guitar is amazing and the game has the best track list to date. I have had great fun with my kid playing this game. I am totally pleased with my purchase. One final plug is for Newegg, rapid delivery as always...thanks!

Cons: None really, I agree with some posts out there that the graphics are not as great as previous versions, but they are fine. Certainly counterbalanced by having so many songs played by the original artists. I listen to guitar hero, I don't watch it.

Other Thoughts: I do have one final issue. I did weeks of research on this game, I saw so many posts by guitarists saying "It's a game, not a real guitar!!! If you want to play real guitar, buy one and take lessons." I just want to say back, I know it is a game. That's why I bought it, to play a game and have fun. Us guitar hero peeps are not that stupid. I don't think I am playing real guitar. When I play Monopoly (TM) I don't have real estate agents shouting "Are you crazy! You are not really trading real estate!!" I think we all know what the deal is. I would buy a REAL guitar and take lessons, but I have a REAL job instead, and a family, so I don't really have that much time on my hands. So grab your bong, click off some Stairway licks, and chill.

Pros: Fun, with a good selection of songs. Slipknot rocks.

Cons: Newegg slapped a UPS sticker right on the box and shipped it as is. E.g. I had a Guitar Hero box sitting on my doorstep for the world to see. Not to mention my son got a scratched, torn, and smashed xmas present. Should have been put in a box for shipping. Also the wireless controller was a bit finicky about horizontal vs vertical when playing.

Other Thoughts: It might just be the one we got but to get the controller to recognize that the guitar neck was raised, I had to really jerk it upright. probably a break in thing.

5 out of 5 eggsCool Game

Pros: This is a really fun game, and If you like to bang your head like I do, then you will enjoy rocking out to songs like Number of the Beast and Reign in Blood.

Cons: I got it for Christmas, and the wireless didn't work.

Other Thoughts: my girlfriend got me this game for christmas from a store that sounds like "Lame Flop." What a mistake that was. They have a rediculous policy where you only get a week from the day of purchase to return defective merchandise. They wanted me to contact the manufacturer on line. That is rediculous at Christmas time. I had to really pitch a fit to get them to take it back. And they would only give store credit. If you are going to buy this game, buy it from New Egg. I have never had a problem with New Egg taking an item back. They rock. Stay away from "Lame Flop" they stink. Oh and New Egg is like five bucks cheaper, and a the time that I am writing this, shipping is free.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Game. Harder.

Pros: It really does bridge a gap here. I've played this with my nieces and nephews, my wife, brothers and sisters, in-laws, friends, their parents, etc. Everyone loves rock, esp. when they can find that ONE song from their glory days (songs from the 70's to 2007, even). Definitely much more of a challenge than I & II. Comes with wireless guitar (excellent). Big props for mostly original recording (a few were redone).

Cons: No downloadable content, but 'tis to be expected (you gotta buy next-gen for that). Hideous singer animation. ;)

Other Thoughts: If you liked I or II or whatever that 80's filler they came out with, or if you're looking for more of a challenge, pick it up ("Through the Fire and Flames" is ridiculous! I play on expert, and I almost failed this on MEDIUM!!)

5 out of 5 eggsBridge the Generation Gap

Pros: Bought this for my kids, but play almost as much as they do.
Kids are amazed that dad knows the songs. Playing is fun for parents because the guitar controller is easier to learn to use vs. the hand game controller for other games.

Cons: Will quickly kill an evening as the "one more song" mindset kicks in.

Other Thoughts: This is the ideal game for parents and kids to play together.
