OverviewCustomer ReviewSpecificationsProduct Tour
Guitar Hero World Tour invites you to put down your guitar – and pick up a pair of drum sticks or a microphone and rock out! World Tour adds the use of percussion and vocals to the rhythmic play.

Gameplay remains true to the original with improved mechanics resulting from the expanded capabilities. A new, "Beginner" difficulty setting lets newcomers get into the game and "Easy Rhythm" allows younger members of the family to join in. Play with local or online players and climb your way to the top with Band Career mode. Take your game online and compete against other players in battle of the band competitions.

All of the songs will be derived from master tracks with bands ranging from the Eagles and Billy Idol to Sublime and Linkin Park. No more strict set lists. Instead, play gigs through your "career" and choose which songs you want to master first. World Tour takes things to the next level by allowing you to create new songs – complete with lead, bass and rhythm guitar and drums – and upload and share your tunes.

Fun, but not perfect

Pros: The Guitar Hero series finally matches Rock Band's "band" status. For the career mode, there are more options for selecting sets (although the sets are fixed). With a created 'rocker', you can use the same character for all instruments (big improvement IMO compared to RockBand 1). Alot of good songs. 'Rocker' creation is more detailed/fun than previous GH titles.
Cons: The interface isn't as 'clean' as RB1. Its also a little harder to track than GH3, but not by much.
Triggering 'Star Power' with the drums has more 'freedom', but during play, it ends up being difficult to trigger (and risky to your score multiplier).
More unknown songs than I would hope for... More than 3 songs are non-English from unknown (to me at least) bands. If they're 'groundbreaking' in their native languages, then I'd object less... but singing along is especially difficult... Past games seem to keep these sort of songs in an 'indie' section. RockBand1 seemed to have a more consistent selection (even the songs I didn't recognize ended up being something I'd heard before in an iPod commerical or something ... or from major artists)
Other Thoughts: My rhythm games are GH3, RB1, and GHWT all for PS3. I have a pair of the GH3 wireless controllers and a RB1 drum set, so I have a little bit of a mixed bag. I haven't played RB2, so some comments against the RB series may have been 'corrected'. In general, it seems that the Guitar Hero series requires more 'skill' at the more difficult levels than RB1. RockBand1 has its issues too, but I tend to prefer that game. I want to give RB2 a try to see how that game plays... GHWT is still a good game :)
