4 out of 5 eggsAddicting.

Pros: Instantly interesting. Unique game play.

Cons: Somewhat repetitive artwork/graphics.

Other Thoughts: I picked this game up after reading what an instant success it was for the original Japanese audiences and then the buzz it was creating here in the States. I am not at all disappointed. I think I'm around half-way through the game and I haven't scratched the surface of what all is possible within the game for character development and item/persona creation. I swear it is a bizarre game unlike any I've played. I'm not sure what makes it addicting though- maybe it's the combination of the random encounter mechanics, the social-link mechanics, the battle mechanics, combinations and creations, and aesthetics?
Anyway, while game play and concept are so exciting and foreign to me, the biggest positive surprise was the sound. The voice acting is great and the soundtrack steps far beyond the cheesy video game music that I'm used to.
The only real negative is that it seems there will be a definite time that the game ends (aka "time limit") and somewhat repetitive dungeon graphics.

Pros: Persona 3 was a game that made many folks dust off their PS2 to play.

Cons: Grinding. The bosses can require an unholy amount of grinding.

Other Thoughts: Gameplay revolves around fairly standard dungeon crawling but gives you 1 day segmented into morning/day/afternoon/evening with the dungeon crawling taking place at midnight.
The daytime can be used to study, woo girls/boys, play sports, play video games (yea I know game in a game).
All of these are done to level up "Social Links" which can power up your character. Be careful with the links however as when you try to become someone's boyfriend/girlfriend you may end up "friend zoned". And no one likes that.
