4 out of 5 eggsPersona 4 Arena

Pros: Excellent hand drawn models and animations, great soundtrack, fast-paced action, respectable story mode

Cons: Sometimes a little too hectic, fast, and just generally noisy

Other Thoughts: I took a gamble on this game, as I love the Persona/Shin Megami Tensei series, but haven't really been into fighting games since the arcade glory days (i.e. Mortal Kombat I/II/III, Street Fighter 2/Turbo/Alpha.) Very pleased to say that this is an all-around excellent game, and one of the very few fighting games I've been able to get into of the past decade (or two!!)

The game plays very much like its influences, those being the Guilty Gear/BlazBlue franchise, but feels a little more well-rounded and user friendly. Definitely easier to just pick up and learn, in my opinion.

My only complaint is that the game can get downright annoying with extended play sessions. The music is intense and great, but when combined with the fact that the sound effects and character voiceovers are pummeling your speakers nonstop, it can get overwhelming. It certainly adds to the action of the game, but prevents me from ever being able to play this game for more than a half hour at a time.

Would've loved to have seen some older characters from other Persona games, but it IS called Persona 4 Arena, after all. The presence of Teddie makes it all OK.

5 out of 5 eggsPersona meets BlazBlue

Pros: Lovely graphics, amazing gameplay, geekey story, Japanese/English tracks, fast load times, installation option, full-color instruction manual (very rare these days.) If you love BlazBlue and Persona like me, you will certainly love Persona 4 Arena.

Cons: This is really stupid, but the only thing I don't like is the title of the game. The Japanese version is called Persona 4 The Ultimate in Mayonaka Arena, (Mayonaka stands for Midnight.) Should've left it like that or just Persona 4 Midnight Arena. When you change the spoken language to Japanese, you can hear the character say the full Japanese title when you enter the game.

Other Thoughts: Must play for any BlazBlue or Guilty Gear fan, also a great follow-up/side story for Persona 4.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Deep fighting system and loads of content to go through in story mode.

In all this is now one of my favorite fighting games of all time. Definitely worth the full price.

Cons: Multiplayer isn't the greatest, you can't just jump into random matches like you can with Capcom games.
