- Pros: This is a great game for the psp if not the best game on psp. You can pick this game up and start off right away not knowing anything about the game. Though you can't fully enjoy it unless you have one other friend playing. The early guild quest can be beaten alone but the game gets really really hard. You'll often yell "JUST DIE ALREADY"
This game fixed a lot of issues from the previous game such as space. Items in the box now group to 99. Some monsters have new attacks, there are new weapons, armor, skills, ect.. great game to pick up for new and old players.
- Cons: Guild quest are very hard solo and some impossible to beat solo, you need friends to play guild quest. Though I'm happy with the new monsters I really wish they would've added a few more and added even more new attacks to old monsters, a few new weapon types would have been nice.
- Other Thoughts: I really love this game but it feel like a monster hunter freedom 2.5
Fun alone or with friends
- Pros: There's a nice variety of monsters to see and defeat. I like how you can make armor or weapons from parts you carve from fallen monsters. The music is nice, and the graphics look better (sharper, I think) for some reason over the first two Monster Hunter games for the PSP. You can import your progress from the previous game, which is great if you've built up a great arsenal of swords, guns, and armor. Also, right off the bat, you can play with up to three other people helping each other kill monsters in Guild Hall missions. Finally, this game can be played for hundreds of hours, so it's actually a pretty good deal for how much it costs.
- Cons: Some of the later monsters are difficult for beginners, so it could be tough to play solo (although, single player missions can generally be taken with a little cat henchman you hire in game) until you learn their behaviours. Also, the camera is a little difficult to get the hang of, as the directional buttons move the camera, while the joystick that's right next to it moves the player.
- Other Thoughts: This is the perfect game to play with friends. You don't need prior knowledge of the other games to play. The plot is only that you hunt monsters for your village. The stories are the ones you tell from your experiences. "I saw this tiny velociraptor kill a dragon I'd been fighting for a half hour, hahaha." Also, going back the the music and sounds; the sound effects are helpful in some little places, like cooking meat, or fishing, or playing with your pet... however, there are visual cues as well for each of these to help those who either have difficulty hearing (like me) or who simply like playing with the volume turned down.
