Announced in November of 2004 (and finally announced officially at E3 2005 by Hideo Kojima). The title is a next-generation adventure set in the aftermath of MGS2: Sons of Liberty. Kojima is in charge of as game design, production, and direction (along with additional director Shuyo Murata), with Ken-Ichiro Imaizumi producing the title and Yoji Shinkawa handling character design.

The concept behind the project is "No place to hide", and the new edition of the series will force Solid Snake into unexpected circumstances in an all-new storyline that breaks away in some ways from the previous MGS franchise entries.

Features: Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is the final chapter in the saga of Solid Snake which sends him around the world in pursuit of his arch nemesis, Liquid Ocelot. Armed with new gadgets and abilities, Solid Snake must shift the tides of war into his favor, using the chaos of the battlefield to infiltrate deep into enemy territory. In his globetrotting final mission, Snake must sneak deep into enemy locations in the Middle East, South America, and other corners of the earth to foil Liquid Ocelot’s plans for total world domination.

Several elements from previous titles return in modified forms. Players will also use a new form of camouflage called "Octocamo", which replaces the camouflage system featured in Metal Gear Solid 3. Dark blue when disabled, the Octocamo suit allows the wearer to blend in with any surface within a few seconds. Snake will also be partnered with a robotic drone, the Metal Gear Mk. II, which allows him to communicate with other characters, in addition to the CODEC radio system from previous games. It is also capable of engaging enemies using an electric shock, as well as providing reconnaissance.

The Metal Gear Online Starter Pack, included with Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, is a squad-based, online multiplayer tactical shooter that supports up to 16 players and takes place in the Metal Gear Solid universe.

MGS4 pushes the power of the PLAYSTATION 3 to its limits with cutting edge graphics and surround sound. It also aims to be the hallmark title for the new DUALSHOCK3 controller.

Command Snake in his final mission which spans the entire globe as he attempts to foil Liquid Ocelot and his massive army of PMCs.

Influence the tides of war through both passive and active means. Snake can directly aid local militia who engage invading PMCs soldiers, or encourage more fighting to slip past undetected amidst the commotion.

Gameplay is awesome, Amusing inside jokes (if you're an avid Metal Gear fan). Wraps up the storyline with a tight little bow. I honestly can't think of a question I had before playing that didn't get answered. They even fix the stupidity of Ocelot and Liquid merging together. Cons: The...not smart people... who gave MGS4 a bad review... The end of Solid Snake... Other Thoughts: First of all, I wish I could ask the two... gentlemen... who gave this game a bad review and ask them if they have ever played any Metal Gear game. If you have never played one of them before DO NOT START WITH THIS GAME! The storyline can be confusing enough even if you've played through every game. Also, every other MGS game has about 50% dialogue, 30% Sneaking around, and 20% shooting. This game is all about stealth. It's not Call of Duty, go get a FPS if want to shoot a million people. And let me also explain my comment about it being the closest game thus far to being perfect. This game has no glitches, it's still one of the most beautiful games I've ever seen, the gameplay is amazing, and interaction with the outside world (discounts on Sun and Wed) is great too. This game has too many perks in it to list, but because there is no big fault nor complaints with this game, I really think it's the bar every other game should be compared to. 1 out of 1 people found this review helpful. Cons: Sound effects(mooing robots?), playing a geriatric hero, confusing storyline, more cinematics than gameplay. Too many installs(every act is installed between the acts. Dumb warnings while Snake smokes during installs, except not to smoke. Other Thoughts: Don't understand why this game gets such great reviews.
