Fun open-world environment, terrible game mechanics
- Pros: Lavishly detailed and very funny rendition of New York City, with more interaction with the environment than ever before. It's fun to explore and has every bit of the humor and attention to detail that the Rockstar crew is known for.
- Cons: The game mechanics are just abysmal. Missions are long and tedious, usually involving driving ridiculous distances and then using some clunky and frustrating aspect of the game interface, like shooting from cover. When you fail, you're forced to start the mission over from the beginning. The vast majority of the optional secondary missions in the game involve playing a series of fairly stupid mini-games, or just driving people around. This is tedious at best.
- Other Thoughts: I hate to say it, as I have been playing these games since GTA 1, but I think this series hit its peak with Vice City. The graphics here are improved tremendously, but the interface controls can't keep up with the more complex environment and feel really clunky at times, and the narrative takes itself a little too seriously-- couching the series in the aesthetics and absurd narrative of Miami Vice made it really fun and funny. Here you have a bunch of homophobic, misogynist, bloodthirsty characters without the fun fictional wrapper, and it starts to become a lot more of the mindless violent game that critics of this series always described it as, and a lot less of the fun and savvy satire that Rockstar is usually so good at making. It strikes me as the kind of game suburban teenagers can probably get really excited about, but adults much less so.
excellent game
- Pros: great story, highly addictive, raunchy xD, gore, language etc graphics r ok but what do u expect for an older, first release game ;)
- Cons: graphics/animation bit dated, like i said raunchy not for everyone or atleast people who cant take a game for a game >_>
THIS GAME IS NOT FOR THE KIDDIES !!!!
- Other Thoughts: The GTA series has come a long ways, been playin since the original PS, cant wait for the next one XD
Amazing Game!
- Pros: This is a quality game with plenty of options and choices to make every avid GTA fan happy.
- Cons: Nothing.
- Other Thoughts: Rockstar keeps improving and revolutionizing the video game industry. It's been a fun ride thus far, and I'm sure that it will continue. Keep up the great work!

What does the American Dream mean today?
For Niko Bellic, fresh off the boat from Europe, it is the hope he can escape his past.
For his cousin, Roman, it is the vision that together they can find fortune in Liberty City, gateway to the land of opportunity.
As they slip into debt and are dragged into a criminal underworld by a series of shysters, thieves and sociopaths, they discover that the reality is very different from the dream in a city that worships money and status, and is heaven for those who have them and a living nightmare for those who don't. |
