I found it difficult at times to figure out exactly where to go next. Other Thoughts: Good game, and well worth the price it is now if you have ever enjoyed a Sonic game. The retro sonic levels certainly have the old sonic feel, but feel fresh given the new look, the larger and more intricate levels, and altered speed. The 3D levels are impressive. I was a big fan of SA and SA2. One of the bigger problems of the games after that is that they didn't evolve much after that and maintained the same problems game after game. Here, they have rectified most of the problems with 3D sonic. The levels aren't as open as in the past 3D ventures, but it doesn't feel like the game is on rails. It maintains its sense of speed while retaining control. It's a large improvement and provides a template for future sonic games to follow. The controls are precise which is key when you need you're moving so fast or death awaits below. Surprisingly, even the plot is enjoyable and the voice acting is much improved Cons: Sometimes sonic feels too fast in the retro levels, but it doesn't take away from the enjoyment or result in unnecessary deaths Other Thoughts: I saw the game receive good, but not great reviews so I was hesitant on purchasing this early. You get to play two different styles and it has multiple characters and you can unlock the original Sonic game and other cool stuff. And for those who care, you can play it in Japanese or English audio. Cons: The story is a little simple, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. Other Thoughts: I know SEGA has burned us before with so many bad Sonic games. After Sonic Adventure 2 everything was terrible except Sonic Rush and Colors and now including this game (and Sonic Heroes was fun, but didn't feel like a Sonic game.) 1 out of 1 people found this review helpful. Smooth controls, fun, fast-paced action, and nostalgia by the bucketful for anyone who played the classic games. Cons: The load times are terrible! Compared to the PC version, the load times are atrocious, to the point where I can't play it on the PS3 since I'm spoiled by the PC load times. There is no option to download to hard disk, so no reduction of load times outside of modding or hacking. Other Thoughts: The challenges are a blast, but they can get a bit frustrating.
