Buckle in for some high-octane vehicular carnage with the latest version of Twisted Metal – this time for the PlayStation 2. Take a break from racing games to engage in some friendly road-rage as you smash and blast your way through obstacle courses – and your opponents – with some seriously twisted rides. Crush your opponents with the monster truck Hammerhead, blast past them with the sporty Crimson Fury or give them a sweet treat with the armed ice cream truck Sweet Tooth.
Battle your way through obstacle courses set in an arena, the Egyptian Pyramids or the Los Angeles freeway system. Each course also includes a mini game to challenge your driving skills and to earn rewards for more weapons and upgrades. Launch napalm bombs from the rooftops of Paris, collect stars in the subways of Tokyo or race the wrong way with missile launchers blazing in Monte Carlo.
The game features extra "lost" levels that weren't included in Twisted Metal: Black, along with cinematic and documentary features. Play alone or with others for expanded carmaggedon.

Old School, Twisted Vehicle Combat
- Pros: This is a great game. Made by the same development team that created the first Twisted Metal as well as the second, it brings back the good, old simple vehicular combat we all know and love from the 90's. If you're a fan of the original 2 TM's, Vigilante 8, etc. you'll love this!
- Cons: Not quite as detailed or as fun as its venerable predecessor Twisted Metal Black, in my opinion. Graphics are rather messy and cartoonish, as this was originally designed for the PSP. Control scheme is a little awkward as you cannot use the right analog stick as in Black.
- Other Thoughts: Eh, buy it. It's a fun PS2 game for $20 brand new!
A return to what made it great
- Pros: If you liked Twisted Metal, Twisted Metal 2, or Twisted Metal: Black, there's a good chance you'll like this. It's 2 games in 1. It has a modified version of TM:HO from the PSP which plays like a mixture of TM1 and TM2 with far better graphics. Very fun. And it has TM:Lost, lost levels that resemble TM:Black.
- Cons: They removed some control schemes (like Control Freak) and don't have a customization option. While Twisted Metal Lost has 4 player multiplayer via a multitap, Twisted: Metal Head On is limited to 2 players. No network play.
- Other Thoughts: If you are going to be playing this game with friends, it's amazing. Twisted Metal: Lost is a huge add-on. It isn't spectacular for 1 player since it isn't a completely fleshed out game. But for multiplayer I think it's actually better than TM:HO.
