4 out of 5 eggsGreat product! Easy to setup and use!

This review is from: Sony DualShock 4 Wireless Controller for PlayStation 4 - Jet Black

Pros: Good controller, much better than the PS3 controller, solid quality, awesome thumbsticks. Connects to and works just fine with PC or PS3 via bluetooth

Cons: - Using with the PS3 or PC doesn't incorporate the use of the touch-pad or the built in speaker (obviously).

- Pricey (not as bad as the XBOX One controller though)

Other Thoughts: Would reccomend
Would buy again

5 out of 5 eggsGreat performance and shipping time

This review is from: Sony DualShock 4 Wireless Controller for PlayStation 4 - Jet Black

Pros: Feels nice, no problems with buttons or bumpers
A different feel of the analog textures, i guess their surface depends on who manufactures the controller.

Cons: Nothing

4 out of 5 eggsSmart?

This review is from: Sony DualShock 4 Wireless Controller for PlayStation 4 - Jet Black

Pros: Looks and feel.

Cons: Battery life is a bit low for the price of controller. Price of this controller is also a bit high for my tastes...

Other Thoughts: I bought this controller to pair with my 55" J6300 Samsung Smart-TV- to use with the PlayStation Now game streaming service. This controller works great but I found pairing this controller to the TV was a hassle as there was no real information on how to properly do this. I had to research online and finally got it to pair correctly (pressing two bottons at same time for 10 seconds) using bluetooth technology. The battery life is about half of what I can get out of the Wii U Pro controller. I spend just as much time charging this thing as I do playing with it so -1 egg for that weakness...

1 out of 5 eggsWhere's the quality?

This review is from: Sony DualShock 4 Wireless Controller for PlayStation 4 - Jet Black

Pros: Comfortable doesn't show grime

Cons: Wow... lets see. The thumb stick pads wear off in a month or so. The triggers stick making your guy skate backwards or random pass after a few months. Battery life is a joke get a long usb cord or get used to a smaller screen so you can be close to the ps4. On my 3rd controller since September 2014. Way expensive for how long it lasts.

Other Thoughts: It feels great until you use it. Get a product replacement plan you'll need it

4 out of 5 eggsAlmost perfect

This review is from: Sony DualShock 4 Wireless Controller for PlayStation 4 - Jet Black

Pros: - The most comfortable gamepad ever made, feels natural in-hand
- Great triggers, bumpers, buttons, and d-pad from design to feedback
- Touchpad is a logical step forward in gamepad innovation
- Internal, rechargeable li-ion battery
- Solid construction

Cons: - Analog sticks feel too short and the rubber is too soft
- Material on analog sticks begin to show wear very quickly
- Analog sticks will likely need to be replaced by each user within the device's lifespan

Other Thoughts: I do not feel it is fair the list any PC-specific cons, since this controller is designed for use exclusively on PS4. However, anyone looking to use this with a PC should know of it's shortcomings when compared to an Xbox controller. The DS4 needs to have drivers and additional software installed for it to function on PC, whereas the Xbox gamepad needs only an installed driver. While the additional software installation is not necessarily a drawback, there are inherent flaws in using a device with no native compatibility. Many games will register the DS4 as an Xbox controller, and as long as you don't mind the on-screen prompts showing the Xbox "XYAB" format, you will be able to use this. In my experience, there are a good amount of games that will not register that a controller is connected at all. There are also a good amount of games that will require you to remap your button layout and setup profiles for each game you want to play. For myself, the ease of use that comes with native Xbox controller support on PC made my choice for me. I like the Xbox One gamepad just fine, but the DS4 has an edge in every other department aside from the analog sticks.

Gaming controllers must be difficult to redesign. A lot of the comfort people experience from using them comes from subjective needs, such as hand size and familiarity. The engineers at Sony have done something spectacular with the DS4, and I'm not entirely sure how. They made a handheld device that feels like it fits perfectly in anyone's hands. It's not as aesthetically pleasing as the Xbone controller, but it feels much, much better in-hand...and that's what really matters when playing games. The button feedback is quiet and responsive, the bumpers and triggers are bordering on flawless, the d-pad is functional and comfortable, and the touchpad (though largely underutilized) is a sensible addition. I genuinely hope to see better use of this feature in more games on PS4.

For a device that does so well on so many levels, it is a shame that the tumbsticks are so poorly executed. It is my preference for a bit longer of a shaft (haha) on the analog sticks, but this isn't necessarily a downside for everyone. What is a downside for everyone is the rubber material covering these sticks. It is a very soft rubber-like material that actually wears off way too quickly. Mine began showing signs of wear within the first 3-4 weeks of use, and the ridges on the edge of the left stick was practically flush with the center after one year. Not only do these wear down rapidly, but they also develop a tacky-touch feeling. The dimensional design of the sticks are a huge improvement from the DS3's awkward, convex sticks, but the material used on the DS4 is a serious flaw. Luckily, you can order Xbox One sticks online inexpensively and install them in the DS4 fairly easily. The Xbox One controller's sticks are fantastic. Once installed in the DS4, it makes the experience of using it much more enjoyable.

5 out of 5 eggsDoes the Job

This review is from: Sony DualShock 4 Wireless Controller for PlayStation 4 - Jet Black

Pros: I've had mine for a little over 2 months so far, so good. No complains whatsoever.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: It's basically the same controller that comes with the PS4 console. Nothing crazy.

5 out of 5 eggsMy favorite controller

This review is from: Sony DualShock 4 Wireless Controller for PlayStation 4 - Jet Black

Pros: I absolutely love the PS4 controller. I have 3 now. I use it for the PS4 and for PC. I used to use xbox controllers for PC but not after trying this guy out.

Cons: Battery life seems pretty weak, but if you disable the LED and/or turn off the internal speaker, it helps quite a bit.

This review is from: Sony DualShock 4 Wireless Controller for PlayStation 4 - Jet Black

Pros: Title really says it all, no difference between this one and the one that came with the PS4.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Bought this a LONG time ago before I ever even got the PS4, works fantastically. Works very well, no complaints

5 out of 5 eggsAbsolutely perfect!

This review is from: Sony DualShock 4 Wireless Controller for PlayStation 4 - Jet Black

Pros: Everything! from the design, toggles, triggers and the simplicity of changing the 1000mah battery for a 3000 android phone battery.

Cons: DHL, instead of dropping the package off at the door like FedEx and UPS, DHL instead of driving 6 miles to the door they instead dropped the package off at a post office extending delivery time by a week and a half!

I think you (newegg) need to can DHL if they are not going to fulfill the 2 ship date as promised.

Other Thoughts: Highly recommend you newegg to can DHL!

5 out of 5 eggsIt works on PC

This review is from: Sony DualShock 4 Wireless Controller for PlayStation 4 - Jet Black

Pros: I bought this for use with my PC and it works. Plug and Play on Windows 7 SP1.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: PS3 and PS4 emulators aren't advanced or out as yet, so it's mainly PS2 games that I play with this.
