You play Adam Jensen, an ex-SWAT specialist who's been handpicked to oversee the defensive needs of one of America's most experimental biotechnology firms. Your job is to safeguard company secrets, but when a black ops team breaks in and kills the very scientists you were hired to protect, everything you thought you knew about your job changes.

Badly wounded during the attack, you have no choice but to become mechanically augmented and you soon find yourself chasing down leads all over the world, never knowing who you can trust. At a time when scientific advancements are turning athletes, soldiers and spies into super enhanced beings, someone is working very hard to ensure mankind's evolution follows a particular path. You need to discover where that path lies. Because when all is said and done, the decisions you take, and the choices you make, will be the only things that can change it.

  • newegg A Divided Near-Future Discover a time of great technological advancement, but also a time of chaos and conspiracy. 5 out of 5 eggsAmazing storyline, subpar gameplay

Pros: Storyline concept is plausible and possible in the future. The idea that modification could be such a huge issue and the media, the corporation, and the activists are relate-able to today's problems.

Graphics/color scheme is kind of a yellow color overall, but nonetheless, it fits the game well. It's not something that is going to blow you away with the graphics yet it does the job.

The background music throughout the game sets a perfect atmosphere that just pair well with the game's concept and storyline.

Cons: Gameplay switches between first person (90%) and third person when you are executing certain actions. I would have prefer one or the other throughout the game.

The shooting mechanic works just well but you're mainly going to be trying to avoid confrontation by sneaking and hacking your way around things. It's a brilliant idea but the shooting mechanics were lackluster when the situation got rough...

5 out of 5 eggsPlease review the game and not the console

Pros: Just helping balance out the negative review that someone gave the PS3 and not the game. This game is awesome though, well worth the money.

Cons: None yet

5 out of 5 eggsA welcome return after 8 years...

Pros: Just about everything this game has to offer is a pro. Different player-controlled paths you can take in the story, flexible/optional mission objectives, no stupid DRM measures or online passes since the game is ENTIRELY single player, which we hardly have enough of in this generation, so on, and so forth.

Cons: The voice acting could be a little bit better, but it's by no means horrible. And the graphics for PS3/360 generally are pretty limited, in comparison to the PC. But if that's not an issue either, you will be satisfied.

Other Thoughts: The last game in the series, Invisible War, was released in 2003 in North America. After nearly a decade, this is a welcome return. Square-Enix have outdone themselves here, and you are definitely, undeniably getting your moneys worth with this. Buy it.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Story

Pros: Story Line
Game play

Cons: Voice overs not the "Greatest"

Other Thoughts: Girlfriend bought the game for me. Have to say I have waited a VERY long time for a game to keep my interest. I absolutley LOVE the complex story line and investigation techinques the game uses. Having the option of "Choice" is a very rare thing in games now a days and it always makes the game better on how you play it. I tend to beat games in a few days on the hardest setting and I dont think I've scratched the surface of this one yet. Very pleased with the customization of the character and teams.

4 out of 5 eggsA good sequel

Pros: -Gameplay
-Holds your interest
-Isnt too short (I've probably put in over 10 hours on it)
-Difficult (Oh highest difficulty)

Cons: -Graphics (Compared to PC)

Other Thoughts: I've extensively played both PC games and PS3 games. Deus Ex feels like a well done game on the PS3 just as I'm sure it is on the PC. The story (so far, I havnt beat it) coincides well with the first game. The missions are difficult but not too much so (I play on the hardest difficulty). I had my reservations about playing this on the PS3, but it has met my expectations. The only real con is the general limitations of the PS3 for all games compared to PC games.

If you're in doubt, redbox has it so you can try it out. If you have a beefy computer system you can probably buy it and do well on the PC, but my PC is getting older, so I'd rather just play it on PS3, it's just as good if you dont care about future mods, or cranking the graphics all the way up.

5 out of 5 eggsUnfair review skews egg count

Pros: Another review here is from a PC fanboy who just clearly hates console gaming, so I'm putting a 5 egg review to at least reset it to 3 eggs so other people won't be scared away by it.

Cons: See above

1 out of 5 eggsBuy the PC version - please

Pros: It's Deus Ex...
It's available on PC (game has been ordered. Thanks NewEgg).

Cons: - Play Station 3.
- Playing this game on a game console is the worst experience I've ever had.
- Trying to move+aim+duck+fire using the game controller is... the worst experience I've ever had.
- Enemies seem invulnerable. Takes like 100 direct hits to kill them.
- You start out with a weapon that makes a lot of noise, but it doesn't kill ANYTHING.
- HATE the "amber" lighting everwhere. I preferred the "blue" lighting the old games had.
- Cost too much. I'd pay TWICE as much for a PC version over this garbage console version.

Other Thoughts: Nothing really wrong with the game... it's just trying to play it on a Play Station is what is so bad....
I've played the original through 10 times (all the way) and the second one maybe 3 on my PC. Incredible experience there.
I've played this for 2 hours and could not beat the second combat encounter. 30+ reloads.
I guess I'm just lame.
I took my disk out and broke it in half. Worst play station game play ever.
PC version of this game is ordered from NewEgg.
Can't wait for it.
Throw your play station away and buy a PC.
