3 out of 5 eggsAssassins Creed 3

Pros: -The naval missions are refreshing if you get tired of running through a lively early America. The scenery and gameplay slightly changes for better or worse (running in deep snow is annoying, storms feel authentic, and summer is beautiful) depending on the weather season and time

-A fresh take on history. Some real events, most of which connor provides a welcome twist to are just more things to keep you involved and interested in the events and characters in the story as it unfolds

-Mini games can be fun to play. I personally enjoyed an occasional game of checkers after a successful memory sync

-The fast travel system is a welcome addition when you just want to do missions or go from point a to b

-The fighting system is just as brutal and satisfying as previous installments including double executions and bone crushing ddts

-Hunting will be half of your total playtime

-If you aren't a completionist you can handle most missions in a play style that suits you

Cons: -The item crafting and stockpiling ect feels bland and more of a chore than a feature, navigating the menu alone can make you just want to hunt for the extra money. Some special items are worth crafting but most require far progression in building the homestead

-Side missions are basically collect items, deliver letters, and assassinate an a.i. that provides little to no challenge

-Revealing the whole map and discovering some side missions, and fort takeovers require you to explore almost the whole map as synchronizing only uncovers so much

-Assassin recruit contracts still don't offer much besides xp money and items, although their abilities are worthwhile

-The underground is atmospheric and large but was a good idea wasted. It's a maze that you probably wont fully explore

-You almost have to go out of your way to scale buildings and jump roof to roof (one of the series' trademarks) because fast travel or simply because running or horseback is faster half the time, which leads to......

-The game is too linear when in New York and Boston. The freedom previous installments provided is sadly missed

-You can obtain a nice inventory but switching between your weapons that aren't assigned to a d-pad direction mid-fight can be an annoyance and is a set back to the otherwise engaging combat

Other Thoughts: -Missions could benefit from a multiple scenario system

-I cant comment on multiplayer as I haven't tried it

-Its basically a re-skin of previous assassins creed titles, at times for the better but mostly for the worse. The game takes 2 steps forward and 2 back, one can only hope the next installment runs full speed ahead and doesn't look back

-I like the idea that the dev's are open to change but I think they may be wandering too far from the series' roots.

3 out of 5 eggsIt's Different

Pros: The strengths in my opinion are the new scenery and new things that you can do like the active block and notice of impending strike. The scenery is beautiful at times and a nice change from the European setup. Climbing through trees and using the rope dart are neat. The snowy terrain is interesting but also a pain to run through.

Cons: The story is pretty boring and I can't get into it. It just doesn't flow too well and you aren't too eager to find out what is next. I found myself hitting the "skip cinematic" a lot throughout it. The puzzles are interesting but still don't compare to AC2 or AC Brotherhood. You also can't really call in all of the assassin's at once which I really liked in the last 3 versions. You can just whistle and they will "help you". I also miss the elaborate assassin's shrine adventures that you had to get with AC2 and Brotherhood. Plus you can't really build yourself up in this game with armor or added features, just maps. Also they keep changing Desmond's looks to match the assassin and that is just stupid. In this one he looks like some weird animal with big ears and nose and this lanky awkward posture.

Other Thoughts: I have to strongly disagree with the other reviewer that says this is better than AC2 or Brotherhood. It is still worthy of buying or at least renting because AC is a fun interface. If you have never played the AC series before then definitely buy AC2 and Brotherhood. Brotherhood is by far the best that this series has ever offered.

1 out of 5 eggsBugged controls

Pros: Great storyline

Cons: Controls are not reliable and you can not complete missions until this bug is fixed

Other Thoughts: Be one heck of a game if the control bugs ever get fixed.

3 out of 5 eggsToo Buggy

Pros: The game is good, typical Assassin's Creed game with more sandbox options and side missions. The open world of hunting and naval battles are great as well as the tree climbing.

Cons: However, the game ( even with the update) is still too buggy. There are times where frustrations are more than enjoyment than the game's core purpose of fun and adventure. I would not recommend buying it for 59.99 or even 47.99; wait and buy it used.

5 out of 5 eggsA proper successor to Assassins Creed 2

Pros: 1. Far better combat controls. No longer can you mindlessly execute every combatant without issue. Strong enemies are immune to this and you actually have to strategize how you tackle such enemies.

2. Guns far more realistic. Some may see this as a negative but you greatly appreciate how technology was back in the day when it comes to reloading a single shot. The hidden blade gun felt cheap to me and trivialized how important such a weapon was with its near instant reload in the Renaissance.

3. Getting from point A to point B is much easier. Fast traveling without being at a particular location is a real time saver, and (at least for me) loading times are much faster than in previous games.

4. Lot more replayability and an incredible naval warfare simulator. They could have created an entirely new game solely based on the naval missions. The frustration was due to my abilities and not the perfect mechanics.

5. MONEY ACTUALLY MATTERS. You have to work for the money, primarily through hunting for treasure and animals. Hunting is Connor's forte so it makes sense he uses these skills for selling, trading and upgrading your ship and/or village.

6. RESTART AT CHECKPOINT FOR FULL SYNCHRONIZATION. No longer do you have to start the mission ALL OVER AGAIN just because for the 3rd part of the mission you got hit or bumped into someone or got nicked during a fight or got more than 50 meters from the person you are chasing.

7. Third time is the charm for multiplayer. The previous two were fun, but the interface is faster, cleaner and the abilities are clear-cut and better to understand.

Cons: 1. BUGS. They have gotten better thanks to the patch, but they are prevalent. Having said that, these are minor setbacks and not major.

2. No more jogging. This may seem trivial but there are missions (no spoilers) where jogging and then jumping around obstacles (humans with bayonnets especially) is ideal because sprinting and jumping sometimes pushes you further than you'd like or you jump too late and get knocked down.

3. Sometimes poor conveyance on how things work. Some may argue that that's the fun in the game, discovering what to do, but I just feel that small explanations would be appreciated. It's a minor issue though.

4. Trading interface sucks. I'm sorry but it's not clear or categorized properly and at times I just give up and sell everything I have because its easier than dealing with the clunky interface. In fact, I'm 99% sure the dev team thought people would feel the same way and put the "SELL EVERYTHING" option there to avoid frustration.

Other Thoughts: Despite the flaws, this is a proper successor to Assassins Creed 2. I enjoyed Brotherhood and Revelations, but Assassins Creed 2's story was simply incredible. Assassin's Creed 3's story just felt more significant to me because it shined a very important light in American History, both positive and negative. To me, that's important, to others it may not.

In conclusion, if you have been playing through this series, get this game. It's the conclusion of Desmond's tale and is a great game (much better than Revelations).

If you are new to this series, I would say start with 2 and work your way up. Although the original Assassin's Creed story was amazing, the gameplay was very sub-par and navigation was painful.

5 out of 5 eggsShipping

Pros: Game LOOKS great! Can't wait

Cons: Shipping, I know the free shipping is 4 - 7 Days but since when does the egg go out of its way to make that happen. I could have walked it from the distribution center to my house in about 4 hours, its been 4 days and all the tracking center says is 'Tendered to USPS' well I guess they can manage to get a package 10 miles in 5 or 7 days... Maybe I'll get this next week. Thanks guys

Other Thoughts: Didn't want to dock a game thats getting great reviews for shipping. Also what the #*(!^ I used to order things from newegg and they would show up the next day, One of the benefits of living near a distribution center. helped make up for paying tax of everything. I used to tell all my clients to order from here but if they cant get a dumb game to me in the same week it's released...

5 out of 5 eggsLooks great! Can't wait to get it in several more days...

Pros: Game looks sick, can't wait to play such a well made game.

Cons: Newegg's preording system is an offensive joke. I preordered this game weeks ago. I received an email on the 29th saying that only just that day did Newegg actually process my transaction and start processing my order. Why in the heck would I want to preorder a game only to be charged weeks later and receive the game almost a solid week after it's released? I should have just driven to GameStop and picked it up on the 30th.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesomeness!!!!

Pros: I picked this game thinking that it would be really hard to top the Ezio Auditore story line and I was wrong! This game is WAYYYYY better than any of all other AC games! From visuals, controllers, graphics, sounds, combat, everything is improved on this game!

Cons: Stop reading and buy it !!! New controllers take a little bit to get used to it! But is not a big deal!

Other Thoughts: Buy the PS version even if you have a 360! There are 4 missions that are exclusive for the PS3! Xbox owners get an incomplete product!!!! Not cool!!!
