This review is from: dreamGEAR Shadow 6 Wireless Controller for PS3
Pros: -A bit bigger and bulkier than standard PS3 controller -Handle grips work nicely -Analog sticks move as fluidly as you would expect from first party equipment -Enhanced L2 and R2 triggers are a nice touch -Analog stick placement is identical to 360's controller
Cons: -Sync is required for use every time the system is powered on -Buttons are noisy when pressed (even gently) -Analog stick clicking is LOUD -D-Pad is horrendous (and that's being generous) -Wireless receiver requires use of USB port at all times -Analog stick movement lags on PS3, PSN, and game menus
Other Thoughts: I purchased this controller as a substitute for the standard Sony one simply because I absolutely hate the Playstation controller. It's too lightweight, tends to slip out of my hands, and the analog stick placement has never made sense to me. This controller actually fixes all those problems for me; however, it creates a few new ones in their place.
First off, if you like being able to turn your system on with the PS Home button on the controller, you're out of luck. A sync is required every time the system is powered on, meaning you have to physically press the power button and then sync back up. It's not a big deal to me, but to each his own.
Secondly, while the analog sticks are *FINALLY* moved back to a position which feels normal for me, the craftsmanship on both the sticks and the buttons are lacking. You press the buttons even slightly, and you'll hear it. You click or move the sticks, and there's a good chance you'll wake a neighbor up. A bit of an exaggeration of course, but you cannot fully understand just how LOUD these things are until you hear them for yourself. The reviewers who mentioned it on Dreamgear's other PS3 controllers aren't kidding around, so take that into consideration before buying. The D-pad was obviously an afterthought on their part, which is a shame because it's used in many games that I play for quick access menus and the like.
All in all, this controller is a viable option for those wanting to match their PS3 controller up with the 360's counterpart. Just make sure nobody around you is sleeping when you play a button masher.
